  1. Because all of those had headlights. Ours hasn't..In a nutshell! So we're using the suitable nose. There are at least 4 different 37/0 split box nose ends. Yes we could have made it with a headlight using the slimmer nose from EW&S 37114/057 but then that definitely wouldn't have been accurate because 114 didn't have a headlight in large logo, and they're not easy to remove/fill in. 035, 068 had plated doors with headlights so that's another tool. Plus the rarity value of this nose end because it's only been produced once before on 37049 a good few years back, now very scarce and it was mated to a body with the fictitious trench under the cantrail grilles amongst other errors, so for many modellers 37049 is only good for the nose ends. As to the why, who what when or where of the Bachmann nose end department several years ago I haven't a clue, we're just making the best use of existing tooling combinations. Alex
  2. Hi John, The nose ends pictured are the ones that will be used, as they are the only versions that suit 37114 in this guise. Split box, no skirts, doors in situ and no high intensity headlight. The earlier 2007 37/0 versions with the smaller gap between the body and sandbox filler all had different nose styles, the EW&S 37114 version had a high intensity headlight so that was different. I've measured the gap across several locos, and it's an extra 0.6mm which is actually less than I thought. Not perfect I know, but it's something we have no control over I'm afraid so it's a very small compromise. The older models have a gap of around 1.1mm to the 1.6mm on the later noses. So on 37114 this distance is 1.6mm. I'd like to take this opportunity to say thank you to everyone who has helped support Mickleover Model Railway Group in this venture. The future of our club and indeed the Derby Roundhouse show is being secured by your support, so a genuine thanks. And btw we are now down to 32 models..maybe we should have ordered more..lol Alex
  3. Thanks Wayne, funnily enough YES!! I've updated to instagram and Facebook (abc workshops) so if anyone wants to follow me on those feel free. So here we are, the 37114 factory pre production sample has landed from China. And I think you'll agree it looks awesome. Whilst there are a few quality control issues to sort out, which is usually the case with first samples, these will be ironed out on the production run. So if there is anything that looks a bit off, don't worry we're on it. We currently have 36 models left, once they're gone they're gone. So if you want one please visit mmrg.org.uk and fill out a form, or drop me a message via social media or on here. They will be sold out when they arrive in a few months time, so don't miss out. No money payable until they have landed in the UK, so a good old fashioned pre order. Anyway, hope you like! But please bear in mind this is a PRE PRODUCTION model, and has some rough areas. And sorry about the picture quality, the iphone 8 doesn't like doing close ups. Alex Carpenter
  4. Tornado, built in 1960, renovation began in 1991, completed in 2007. Thats quality! LOL etc.. On a positive note, a swallow HST, fantastic. And a triple grey 60..good and I'll buy one (lets hope the triple grey colours are right, not like the previous two grey 60s). NSE 50033, great, just get the correct blue. Modern stuff, colas 67, good. Lets just hope they get the colas colours right third time lucky. I could go on and moan about all the HUGE gaps on re-liveries that aren't in there again in class 08, 31, 56, 60 form etc but theres no point. I'm really pleased they're doing a swallow HST, just PLEEAASE Mr Hornby if you're reading this..get the colours right. And you will sell them all very quickly. (Ps, the buffet car shouldn't have a yellow stripe along the whole thing) Sorry if that sounded a bit moany, but I really want the diesel releases to be good in the paint department! I can live with increased prices, just as long as I haven't got to do a partial repaint. Alex
  5. Quick update on 37114 for everyone. We're currently awaiting a revised ETA from Bachmann, due to Chinese new year and associated things. So I'll know more before the month is out and have a new date pencilled in, which I will put up on here. Just to let everyone know you haven't been forgotten etc etc, and the waiting list is alive and well, and very nearly full. It's safe to say 37114 will be sold out on pre-order, so if you want one please please get in and reserve now or it will be too late by the time they actually arrive, I'd hate anyone to miss out waiting until they actually arrive. We are down to the last 40 something locos as of today. As usual, no cash up front, just full contact details. We will be in touch when the models arrive to take payment and ship out to you. Once again thanks for your support and orders, both from the UK and internationally. Genuinely brilliant, thank you. I will keep you guys posted, follow this thread for updates and keep checking back. Alex
  6. Yes! The sample will be entering the ABC workbench this week for correction so hopefully will have some pics of that within 1-2 weeks now. The production model will be spot on, as you would expect
  7. Yes, the pre production sample was received back in early October. However the factory had made the same error as on 37099 (all black headcode boxes) which looked awful, so I took the decision not to show anyone as folks would think the model was going to be wrong when in fact it was a pre production very random error. Those of you who went to Warley will have noticed that the pre production Colas 37099 was on display..because I've corrected the headcodes for them on the sample. I haven't had time to do this on our 37114 yet, but when I do I'll share it on here. Probably over christmas when I have some free time! Rest assured this error will be fixed on the production locos, obviously. Thanks for everyone that came to say hi at warley, and those who ordered locos. They're still going at a fair rate, almost down to the last 50 now. Alex
  8. Just a reminder, if anyone wants to come and say hello, I'll be at Warley this weekend with the display model.. Rail Express stand next door to Farkham. Stand A045A Alex
  9. Will do paul, when I get chance. We're offering Legomanbiffo sound fitting for an extra £140 if required, thats where I'd go for sound anyway. The best IMHO
  10. Just a quick post to say thanks again to everyone who has pre-ordered a model, and if you want to come and see me at Warley for a chat or to view the handpainted model..and hopefully pre production sample..then feel free. I'll be on the Rail Express stand or thereabouts. I'll bring some order forms and put them out with 114, and a heads up they are now nearly 90% sold. Fantastic result, my prediction of them being sold out on delivery is looking like it will be the case. So once again, thanks everyone for supporting Mickleover Model Railway group and getting a decent 37 in the process! Heres another pic of my handpainted model, exactly how it will be. Alex
  11. Me too! I'll hopefully have a pre production model for display by Warley at the latest..and of course I'll show you guys on here too. It'll be on the Rail Express stand anyway along with me. Alex
  12. Haha, yes just wait until late December/mid January when they arrive, we'll contact you for payment as per details issued. if you've filled out an online form you've definitely got one. You should have had a confirmation email. if you haven't for some reason then feel free to message me and I'll check. Alex
  13. Should hopefully have something to show you in the next week or so..stay tuned
  14. Another little update, just to give you an idea of the redrawn nameplates. Brian at Shawplan has done a great job, and they're now 100% accurate. Thinner border, and slightly shorter in length, and taller. The whole plate is crisper. I've fitted the new plates to my handpainted sample, new ones are at the top! The lighting has made the paint finish look rough somehow but never mind it's a heavily zoomed in pic. Alex
  15. Layout is good, and will be undergoing some changes..namely fitting a proper inspection pit which has taken far too long. Meadow Lane will be attending the Bombardier family day this Sunday in Derby..but that probably won't be a great deal of use to 99% of folks on here! More shows will be pencilled in after a quick refurb of a few bits, and an exterior repaint as after a few shows there are some marks and wear..and the colour scheme will have a 'theme' shall we say!
  16. So another little update today, the nameplates are fresh off the Shawplan production line and will be on their long journey to China in the next week or so. These have been redrawn to ensure 100% accuracy, I think you'll agree Brian has done a great job. Once again thanks for your continuing support! Alex
  17. Hi Paul, I suppose I could do a greater gloss finish yes..not mirror finish but I can defo add some shine. Drop me a PM and I'll add you to my private work order book! Cheers, Alex
  18. Pre production samples are now expected to be with us in mid to late September, so I'll post up on here when they arrive. Any alterations will be sorted at this stage if needed, the process is very strict and involves quite a few people at Bachmann and the club, so rest assured it'll be top notch. Once again, thanks for the continuing orders! Alex
  19. Just a reminder to anyone who's already ordered a loco or is thinking of doing so, we are still offering weathering and/or Legomanbiffo DCC sound fitting for 37114, at discounted prices. The work will be done by myself to the usual high standard and if anyone wants to go down this route please drop me a private message on here or through my website abcworkshops.co.uk If you already know me just get in touch by whatever means you like. Sales are still going really well so once again many thanks! The new clubroom is starting to appear on the horizon. Option 1. Weathering, an extra £25. Done by myself to your spec, a proper job. Option 2. DCC sound fitting, an extra £140. Done by myself, using the latest Legomanbiffo Loksound V4 decoder and standard 20 x 40mm speaker. Option 3. Renumbering/renaming, £ price depends on which one, drop me a line and I'll quote you. If you require any one or a combination of these three options, get in touch with me directly, and I will sort it out for you once the locos have arrived with us in January. All the best, Alex
  20. Unfortunately as a club in our current status we can't take cash or payment by any means up front for accounts/financial reasons, otherwise we would've followed the current trend to take payment in full upon reservation/pre order. Annoying but true at this moment in time, although it will be addressed for future releases so we can do this! Sales are very strong btw, we're two thirds sold out in this little time, so anyone waiting until they arrive may be disappointed. Just a heads up.. because I'm guilty myself of not reserving things on pre order, I just wait until they're in stock! But at this rate they'll be spoken for. Thanks for your support, getting nearer to a replacement building! Alex
  21. Definitely, many thanks to everyone once again. Some of you may well approve of our second choice, but for now it'll remain a secret, with a likely launch at the Derby show in May again but we'll see. We need to sell out of this one first before doing it all over again!! As it's an expensive business. I genuinely believe they'll all be reserved by the delivery date, but even so we'll continue to take reservations beyond the 512 because they'll inevitably be a few folks that'll drop out. So any over 512 will be kept in a reserve waiting list for that purpose. Alex
  22. Good show today at DEMU in Burton on Trent, quite a few more ordered! So thanks to those of you who stopped by to say hello. Alex
  23. Received the artwork this morning, just in time for the DEMU show! So heres the finished product in digital format, all approved and the model will be as you see here. Hope you like.. I'll be at the DEMU show in Burton on Trent this weekend at my stand ABC Workshops with the display model, reservation forms, and the artwork printout. So feel free to come along and say hi or see it for yourself. Alex
