    Hornby D16/3

    Hornby website now says 01/08/15.
  2. That's a good photo there. These coaches must have been impressive in the 1930s decked out in blues with polished metal tables and trim. Quite a contrast to the more usual varnished wood I'd imagine.
  3. Nah, completely implausible. Who would paint a coach in those colours?!

    Hornby D16/3

I think everything that can be said for now, has been said, and the release date has been static for a while. No doubt things will errupt again in a few weeks.
  5. Aren't the curtains painted on the inside of the glazing? Could this be replicated? Come to think of it. Could the glazing be replaced on curtained cars? Or is it glued in?
  6. I no longer just hang up but try to gather as much information as I can about who is calling me and then ask them not to call me again and to remove all my details from their system. I then submit a complaint. Telephone Preference Service complaints (assuming you are registered with the TPS): https://complaints.tpsonline.org.uk/consumer/complaint The next step, if necessary: https://ico.org.uk/ This takes a few minutes of my time but I receive fewer calls these days.
  7. Not in the interweb age. Someone once said something along the lines: "It used to be thought that a million monkeys with typewriters would eventually produce the complete works of Shakespeare. Now, thanks to the internet, we know that's not true." It's also not true if the two sources are the Daily Mail and the Daily Express. (And probably suspect even if only one of them is involved.)
  8. That's good then since I pulled this from Antony Ford's Pullman Profile No. 3. (Mind you, that may be where Steve Banks got his information too.)
  9. I think you are correct. There may have been some small detail changes post war though. For example, I think Loraine had the kitchen window modified so that there was a small cream panel at the bottom. I believe this was to hide the view of the back of the cooking range previously visible through the obscured glass, but this is my interpretation rather than somehting I've read. Loraine may also have had running numbers changed when moving from GWR to SR?
  10. Unless someone more knowledgeable can correct me my current understanding is as follows. These notes only relate to the cars in the livery Hornby are doing for this first release. 72 - LNER. 73 - LNER. 79 - LNER. Loraine - Initially GWR. Transferred to SR in 1931. Agatha - LNER.
  11. Yes, a D16. The same LNER liveried one Hornby list as coming in August. Could just be a pre-production locomotive but interesting nevertheless.
  12. The answer to the first part of your question/suggestion Mick is yes. http://shop.cooper-craft.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=16_43&products_id=281 Whether they have any in stock and whether you can actually get your hands on one is another matter.
  13. It certainly is. Housemartins have been around for a while now but not swallows. Although, as mentioned a few days ago, there were dozens in Northumberland. Perhaps there is something unusual going on with wind directions and temperatures?
  14. I bet you're delighted to have Horsetan's support aren't you Tom.
  15. Plenty of info. over on the LNER forum Phil. Here's just one example entry: http://www.lner.info/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2443&p=108365&hilit=railroad+a4#p108365
  16. Hedgehogs and most other animals can swim Dave, so perhaps you won't need to fence a full pool as long as there's something wildlife can cling onto and haul itself out with. Would a log be feasible?
  17. Lesser spotted woodpecker dining on the peanut feeder just now. Incidentally Keith, we have one of those cages on the right protecting our seed feeder too. I put it there to keep off the wood pigeons who would empty the feeder rapidly whilst preventing access for anything smaller. Peanuts are in a stainless steel mesh feeder which, although accessible by squirrels, seems to be too tough for them to bite through so they just nibble what they can whilst hanging upside down.
  18. Just back from a brief holiday in Northumberland (Hadrian's Wall). Now I know where all the swallows went when they bypassed us! Still not seen any here. Oyster catchers and lapwings nesting in the fields near to the cottage we rented. Several goldfinches and wagtails on the cottage garden walls almost constantly. Plenty of other feathered and furry wildlife around too including a great view of a stoat with a vole for dinner.
  19. Oh no! Here we go again. Or is this one of your wind-ups? You're not just assuming you can board the loft and use it are you Quackers? If you haven't read it already, please see Mickey's "Lofts - Don't Do It" thread first. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/99916-lofts-dont-do-it/
  20. Ah,sorry. Faulty memory strikes again. I was paying attention to everything else on LB, honest!
  21. Didn't you have a K's Stirling Single on loan recently Tony?
  22. Don't you mean: if fish are gutted, it is done at sea rather than in port? Or something along those lines. I buy plenty of fish that is still whole and complete with all the guts. It is possible that this varies by species though. Aside from sea bass, none of the white fish is whole.
