It's an Astra - 4' sections will fit very nicely.
The joins themselves will hopefully be disguised well enough not to be an issue, and there is only the one on the track, so everything else will just be scenic. I'll see how it goes - if the worst comes to the worst, I'll have lost two pieces of ply for a tenner each, and I'm sure I can recycle those.
If you do try the 6 pieces first and it doesn't work, you wouldn't need to waste the ply. Just screw the sections together and scenic over the lot. Problem solved!

dseagull, With so many joins I think you are asking for trouble.
Single joins in themselves are always a pain .......like the necessary one through your tracks but unless your car is that small that the rest of the layout needs to be in such small pieces, I would personally try to avoid them.
Just my opinion.

Do you have a link to the ebook?

I can smell the saloon from here!
Phew.........
question Mikel,
What did you use on the clear plastic for the toilet window to give the frosted glass effect?
-
Jan, I wouldn't feel down. It's taken me over 2 1/2 years to get this far.
Now, when you look at what Coachman has been doing AND the rate of knots he has been going.....that , puts me to shame.
In the end it is a hobby so it gets done when it gets done.

Dave,
This entry needs to be linked to from the Forums How to section.

Hi Frank,
Could I also impose on the info for the way around the bits are connected.
All being well I shall be picking up the parts this week.

Will do. The top is the main concern. Once the strip is glue there it will help.
I use Tetra, which is basically an MEK that also us suitable for ABS plastics as well.
Would never have thought to use superglue. I am assuming the sodium bicarbonate would also give a bit of gap filling quality as well....am I right?

They're not the B set ones. Composites I would say.
to me the hardest part to get right is the Toplight section. There is little enough room as it is and with the joins it weakens the area.
I know I should be building the controllers for the layout to double check the wiring, but hey....this is fun!

Congratulations.
The images I have seen on the net, indicate to me that I would have more than enough to look at without a train!

Thanks Jim,
There were other little things nagging at me as well, and I can now say after a few hours out there, it was time well spent and I am now happy with the way it is travelling.

Ian,
Have you thought about building a small mockup in either styrenne or brass, to practice on??

Looks good.
As for the dirt colour, it looks like a reddy clay to me so if that is what it is supposed to be it's great

do you know what issue of Model Rail??

Personally I like it.
46444 hit it on the head with adding a bit of colour to the wire....but not to much.
I would think that greys and browns.....browns to represent a bit of rust.

Mikkel,
Before denigrating your work, stop and consider "what the ?

Hey Rovex,
The only problem I see with them is that they are Crimson and Cream and not cream and brown.
That said, they have come up very well indeed
