  1. More landfill: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Heljan-Stripped-Class-57-/161108269950?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item2582cd1b7e
  2. They are going for quite a bit at the moment, but I think this might be taking it a bit too far... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/300959737425?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2648
  3. The HSTs are painted plain blue with just the coloured lines stuck on as vinyls. I've not seen a 166 for ages, but it sounds like they are the same as the TPX 185s, where the whole train is covered in vinyl, with the shade of blue getting lighter from bottom to top. I can quite believe that this would be very difficult to reproduce on a model. EDIT: Just had a look on Flickr and the 166s do indeed appear to have the same graded blue livery as the 185s.
  4. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261287346433?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 And this is one of the least-sought-after types (each train only needs one TGS)!
  5. Selling boxes is not entirely ridiculous - I've done it before! But they do need to be in pretty much perfect condition - don't think there will be too much competition for a battered Lima one. But perhaps I'd better keep an eye on it - I have a selection of similar ones if people are daft enough to buy them,...
  6. In the case of the A4s, part of it is going to be the fact that you will have trouble finding any new ones available at all at the moment - if you look at how much they are going for on ebay generally it's quite high.
  7. Hmm, well if it's realistic I'd say it might be worth about 50 quid? Some damage to one of the power cars, but it is a rare set (probably worth somewhere around 70-100 if perfect). Certainly, it's not worth anywhere near the buy it now price!
  8. People who put 'L@@k', 'great item', 'super item' and the like in titles should be banned from Ebay! Does it add anything to the description? No!
  9. GNER kept their trains in better condition than that - no scrapes left on their trains!
  10. Another optimist: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lima-L149624-Great-North-Eastern-Railway-GNER-The-Highland-Chieftan-Ltd-Edn-/161101619732?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item258267a214
  11. Possibly rather optimistic for an old short-length Mk3... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-RAILWAYS-MODEL-X3553-GNER-No-42192-Mk-3-STANDARD-OPEN-FLYING-SCOTSMAN-/400429778876?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item5d3b7987bc
  12. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bachmann-32-755-KIT-BUILT-NETWORK-RAIL-CLASS-57-3-LOCO-57312-MINT-DCC-my-/360706035812?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item53fbc15064 A tad optimistic, I feel! A repaint, even a decent one, is not likely to sell for anything like this, especially when it's now available in this livery from the manufacturer anyway. And why does this seller advertise all his repaints as 'kit built'? It really is not an accurate description of a repainted commercial model!
  13. @ Dapol Dave - any chance of a TF in Grand Central livery at some point in the future? The only one so far produced is the one in the set with the power cars, and the most usual composition of the real sets is PC-TF-TRSB-TS-TS-TS-TF(declassified)-PC.
  14. No mention of the DVT though

    Dapol Class 22

Thanks. Would you be able to suggest a suitable number which Dapol have produced (ideally a blue one).

    Dapol Class 22

Which variation / livery would be appropriate for the final years of BR operation on the West Somerset branch line? My Dad, who grew up in Watchet, tells me that they appeared regularly.
  17. I believe the canrail stripe is a requirement for mainline running. It also needs to have a headlight - the central headlight on the 50s was a later modification, so D444 has the headlight in place of one of the marker lights.
  18. My understanding was that after use with Scotrail they were converted back into FOs. Is this correct? Was it done as soon as they were withdrawn from that route?
  19. My understanding from the postings is FO in blue/grey set, CO in Scotrail version of Intercity set. The COs were converted from (and subsequently back into) FOs - it's effectively just changing some of the interior.
  20. Err, didn't he explain in the post you quoted that this wasn't financially viable? Sometimes we have to accept compromises due to tooling costs (.e.g the wrong cooler groups on some of the Dapol HST power cars, wrong roof vents on loco-hauled Mk3s, incorrect Window arrangement in WSMR buffet). At the end of the day, we can't expect the manufacturer / person who commissions the model to make it at a loss!
  21. Oban - 23rd August 1981, and 55021 as you say. The stock details from the six bells junction website are: 12018+12007+12051+12015+1857+12025+11008+9703 i.e. a push-pull set with a Mk1 buffet inserted in the middle
  22. From the description posted earlier in the thread, it sounds like it will be the same as with the TCC in the Crosscountry HST - i.e. the livery and numbering correct (yellow stripe along the top of only the first-class part of the coach), but with a standard first-class interior. With a spare standard-class interior, it will be possible to shorten both interior parts to the correct lengths in order to give the correct composite interior.
  23. Isn't that a six-coach set, including the DBSO (i.e. five Mk3s)? My understanding is that the formation of most sets was five carriages - the DBSO, 3xMk3a TSO and 1xMk3a CO (not sure which end of the set the CO usually was). Is this not correct? If this is right, then the 4-coach set as proposed, plus the DBSO and 47, is the correct formation for most of the trains and an additional TSO is not required.
  24. Didn't they often run as 5-coach sets, including the DBSO, when in this livery?
  25. That's it - and it really isn't blue when you see it: it's very much purple!
