  1. You have to wonder! It would actually be a lot cheaper to buy one in another livery for twenty quid or so and have it professionally repainted!
  2. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/301056791700?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Bloody hell! That's the second one to go for over 200 quid this week (one went for 200.99 a few days ago).
  3. I sold one a few months ago and it went for about fifty quid. Looks like I should have waited before having a clear out!
  4. Have to say I think the reviews of the Lima 67 were a bit harsh - the main issue was that they had over-hyped it and it didn't live up to the lofty claims! However, it's actually not a bad model overall, and better than some which Hornby still haven't retooled (notably the 87 and 90).
  5. Yes, I would have said so - descriptions ought to be accurate whatever the starting price.
  6. Rare (it says so in the description)! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LIMA-Class-67-EWS-WITH-LIGHTS-detailed-RARE-Boxed-Track-Tested-67003-/231125661753?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item35d029b839 They only come up on ebay at a rate of about one or more a week!
  7. Some fine description here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-R2984-CLASS-43-HST-NETWORK-RAIL-NEW-MEASUREMENT-TRAIN-PACK-FOR-REPAIR-/141152440966?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item20dd575286 "Externally they are both in very good condition and apart from the missing buffers, light units and power car roof fans - they are ready to run." "THIS IS A VERY RARE OPPORTUNITY TO PURCHASE THIS HST SET UNBOXED AND WITH COSMETIC DAMAGE." Very good condition apart from having a number of very obvious bits missing! And remember, it's a 'rare opportunity' to get them in a trashed state like this! And from the same seller: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-BR-CLASS-43-SUPER-DETAILED-HST-BODY-43300-EAST-COAST-LIVERY-SPARES-REPAIR-/370974217650?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item565fc955b2 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-BR-CLASS-43-SUPER-DETAILED-HST-BODY-43055-EAST-MIDLANDS-SPARES-REPAIR-/141152438264?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item20dd5747f8 Both of which are in 'Excellent Condition' - well, apart from the fact that both of them have a large and very obvious dent in the exhaust deflector! I wonder what 'poor condition' would look like?
  8. Has Gostude changed his username and moved house?
  9. In the minds of a fair number of ebay sellers, something which is not currently in production / available new is automatically 'rare', even when there are thousands of them around!
  10. People have never bothered to read listings properly! I've not actually had this problem much selling model railway stuff, but when selling computers and parts of it's a regular on - no matter how prominently you put that you won't post out of the UK, you get someone asking how much to post to Nigeria, or Australia, or wherever!
  11. Wouldn't it have made more sense to use a standard 6-pin decoder (as in the Bachmann 03, as I recall)?
  12. Don't all rush at once... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-Virgin-HST-Power-Car-Maiden-Voyager-No-43063-OO-Gauge-Mint-/251403632459?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item3a88d2ff4b
  13. Doesn't look like that's included in the sale! Along those lines, there was some woman who auctioned her virginity on ebay a few years go.
  14. Look at the price they sold for!
  15. If you look at their other items, it looks like this is just a mistake and it's probably meant to be £2.50.
  16. It would be much cheaper to buy even a new Hornby 67 (the Wrexham & Shropshire one can be got for under a hundred quid). Say 50 quid for a repaint, so 150 quid max and you've got the latest style model in that livery!
  17. How much this time... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-R3216-Diamond-Jubilee-class-67-67026-limited-edition-of-500-/321256039549?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item4acc5a247d
  18. Class 185, on the basis that I probably travel on them more than any other type of train! Only one livery so far but they will be around quite a while yet, and are seen over a large part of the north of England and up into Scotland.
  19. And 180s could be done as part of the same project - intermediate vehicles are the same; just different nose ends on the driving cars.
  20. Yes, they did have buffers - but how will you do the power cars? No kits available and it would be tricky to scratch-build the front accurately.
  21. I suspect some bidders didn't read the description carefully enough!
  22. Someone with the skills to mend it! Same reason as people buy broken laptops on there. I've bought some of these in the past, but there's not much point looking now - anything which can be economically repaired tends to go for more than I'd be prepared to spend.
  23. If it's being painted pink, perhaps a peak would be more appropriate...
  24. Does Gostude ever advertise anything which isn't (according to him) 'kit-built'?
  25. Went for £360.63. Bloody hell!
