  1. That mill is certainly impressive, not sure I'd have the patience to deal with all of those windows though. It does sit nicely within the landscape rather than overpowering it.
  2. I think the bridge looks better with the addition of the higher pillars. The ballasting is superb. Can I ask how you've crafted the coping stones for the bridge walls? Looks like they are carved from a single strip of plasticard? Martin
  3. I've just stumbled across this thread and had no knowledge of the NER 1903 Autocar other than the information presented here, that said a big well done to everyone - it'll be fantastic when it is finished. I'm sure others might not agree but to me there is a certain beauty in just the running chassis. A lot of hard work and dedication has gone into something that will ultimately be covered over. Would love to see it completed and back at the GCR for a visit. Quick edit: The rail level video is excellent, a view very rarely captured
  4. Mine arrived today, DCC Ready. Haven't fully taken it out of the box (but what a large box it is!). Very nicely presented. A big thank you to everyone involved in making this, Locomotion, NRM, Rapido and not forgetting everyone in-between from the folks doing the laser scanning to people the other side of the world on the assembly line. Now... where did I put that shrink-ray? (N gauge APT-E please)

    Dapol 08

I saw the list you'd posted above (very helpful btw), the clarification I've sought from the retailer is that the version I'd pre-ordered back in March 2012 is now listed as a pre-TOPS loco number (not what I wanted). Wouldn't want others opening their parcels to find something in green when they'd originally ordered black etc. Edit: Just confirmed by the retailer the version I had pre-ordered had changed. Martin

I cannot wait to see this in Blue, however I've noticed that the version I'd pre-ordered 7D-008-002 is now listed as D3045, not 08xxx as expected. Wouldn't want anyone else getting tripped up by the change. Have contacted the retailer in question for clarification.
  7. Nice work, to echo others you've done a grand job on the ballasting and colouring of the track work so far. When operating are you going to use auto-uncouplers for the loco hauled stock or will it be a 'hand of god' arrangement?
  8. Wow... those grasses look fantastic. Could you name where you purchased the MiniNatur grasses?
  9. Just echoing the other comments, your work shows how good N gauge can be. I may have missed it in the thread but what did you use for the stone walling (in the garden picture above) and what static grasses/applicator did you use?
  10. Love the view underneath the screens in post #195, lots of character around the layout. Thanks for the explanation of how the coal loading works - it is nice to see how things operate 'behind the scenes'. Martin
  11. Looking good, nice to see it 'in action' on a layout to give a better feel for its size. I'll wait to see pictures of the light industrial green before I decide between that or plain black. (If only the wallet could stretch for a pair!)
  12. To echo other comments this is a really nice layout - busy enough in the space you've used but not 'too busy'. When operating do you stick to set timetable / plan for movements? Martin

    Ask Dave

Hi Dave, Thanks for the open 'letter' as it were explaining how things are. You said that after the J94 was completed you'd move onto tooling the N gauge 23 and 17, is that for when the OO J94 is done, or when both the OO and N J94 are done? (I only ask as there was no other mention of the N J94 timeframe). Martin
  14. Sorry if this sounds daft, but from your photos today where would the DCC decoder live? Martin
  15. Nice to see some shots of Leicester seeing as it's my local station. Is anything happening with the units in the depot or are they just being stored there?
  16. My only O gauge loco is the Hudswell Clarke (for the moment) and I thought that was large. 'Half'-sister is a fitting description. Looking forward to seeing them in their final colours.
  17. Great work Dave, I'm sure the results will be worth the extra wait and the recent updates indicate that it will. It's a shame I no longer model in OO but these are very tempting for a small industrial layout. I hope the N and O gauge versions get the same amount of attention, those two will make cracking models as well (those are the ones I'm looking forward to!)
  18. Looks great and coming along nicely, would it be possible when they are ready to have some short videos of them being run?
  19. This is one to put on the wish list, it's good to see another well priced RTR small O gauge loco for those of us who have still to master the craft of brass kit-making. All the best with the venture and I look forward to seeing it progress.
  20. The off-side shot of the double-heading 37s on the viaduct on the clayhoods looks great. The scenery around the tunnel and viaduct really does make an impressive view in the space you have used.
  21. Quick question, from some of the photos you've posted it looks like the wagon tippler building at the top of the incline actually tips the wagons? Could you describe how that works and what happens to the 'coal' load. Other than that, brilliant stuff.
  22. There are some photos on Flickr of such a livery combination, not my pictures but here are two examples. Does seem to be quite rare so an interesting choice by Farish. https://www.flickr.com/photos/davidwf2009/5643477463/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/rgadsdon/4852453297 Personally cannot wait to get hands on the new 31.
  23. Great stuff. The viaduct is impressive along with the track work. 10ft in N looks huge. Are the china clay wagons the ones from Kernow?
  24. Brilliant stuff here, I particularly like the way the powders have created depth in the panel edges on the mineral wagons. I apologise if this has been answered before but when you are applying the powders do you apply them straight on the rolling stock 'as new from box' or do you put of thin layer of adhesive down first (paints, glues etc)? Martin
  25. O gauge industrials - 0-4-0, 0-6-0 steam and diesels. Maybe an LMS/BR 3F. Randall,
