  1. On the Saturday morning there were power issues down one of the sections, down by Denton Brook. Seems to be a bit of a reoccurring theme in the last few years. Also, might just be me but it looks like the lighting in Hall 5 has finally been changed, now using white lights rather than yellow. Some great modelling, Liverpool Lime Street was near impossible to get near along with some others during the day. I went to try and get some modelling motivation back, it's been missing for a while. Came home with a few laser cut buildings to do some small dioramas with. Well done to the organisers, I'm sure it's always a huge logistical challenge every year. I could not see any progress on the Dapol Sentinel in O, but the bubble cars looked impressive.
  2. Excellent news! As an N gauge modeller who has the OO version it's very welcome news. IMO even if it doesn't tilt it'll be a cracking model to have.
  3. Excellent, I didn't realise before the video that the layout was actually quite so small. Very effective use of space.
  4. Looks like it's not actually listed on the new site at all. I'm sure it's an oversight as it's still on the normal www.hattons.co.uk website. Wonder if that means the current site and the 'new' site are running from two different stock databases, otherwise congratulations - you've found a bug! (I used to do bits of software testing and always enjoyed finding bugs).
  5. I'll throw my opinions into the ring. - 'Product Index' should be 'Scale' or 'Gauge' as thats what is listed under the menu - it's not an index - Filters should be listed alphabetically, rather than being ordered by number of items - took me a minute to find Peco for some track - Please keep the domain as hattons.co.uk as it's much easier to remember - or add an auto-redirect to the new domain. Pick one. Hattons.co.uk is well known and I'd argue the stronger contender - - - On a sub-note to this it's also less consistent for email addresses to be different. Website is hattonshobbies.com but emails are just hattons.co.uk? - A little pet-peeve of mine. If I add something to my cart please don't take me to the cart, otherwise I just go back and forth constantly. Especially true if I'm adding multiple items from the same category (say track work) - Search seems much faster - I'd also opt for a way to save 'new only' items by default On a positive note I've always found the Hattons website to be much easier to use/navigate than other websites. On mobile (iPhone 6s, iOS 12) the tick box buttons are slightly cut off on the filters.
  6. The blocks of flats are very impressive, great stuff. Does Gaz Robertson have any form of web presence for his laser cut items?
  7. After receiving a replacement blanking plug from Dave my J94 is happier - seems to be a little hesitant when the left hand rods are at the top of the wheel on slow speeds but I'm hoping that will work itself out. Thanks Dave for sending the replacement plug.
  8. Excellent! Amazing what you've managed to do. It's always good to see layouts with that extra bit of 'life' such as your crane actually doing its job. The laser cut / engraved buildings also look very well done indeed.
  9. Whilst I know nothing of the location, the simplicity of the layout works wonders. Your track work in particular is superb - followed very closely by the general landscape. It does look like the landscape was there first.
  10. I'll take a guess that the realistic smoke action is meant to live in here? What is the possibility of securing a replacement blanking chip? The PCB it was connected too looks fine so I'm going to assume this is the culprit.
  11. Hi Dave, It was just a standard Gaugemaster Combi connected to a two lengths of flexi, no fancy gubbins like cleaners. The model itself is the Hatton's limited edition Hurricane. I'll try looking at the board when it's on the rolling road.
  12. So, my first, and only, J94 has released realistic smoke about 3 minutes after coming out of the box. Stalled on a bit of track, wouldn't move and a nice little smoke ring came out of the top. Wasn't even running fast. Just a length of flexi to test it moved before running in. Turned the power off and it sat there steaming away. Dave - I assume a standard DC Gaugemaster Combi unit is fine for these models? Not sure what to do now, don't know if any of the circuitry is damaged as I've not yet chipped it. It still moves - so it's not like I can exactly return it as 'non-working'.
  13. For the storage and return, yes, but surely just helping yourselves to content from the wallet is pushing the line too far. Taxi companies must be making a fortune when drunken people leave wallets, phones and laptops. Just keep them.
  14. After a bit of a social media outcry they’ve changed their policy. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2018/sep/14/train-company-rows-back-on-charge-for-returning-lost-wallets Doesn’t quite say if they won’t still apply a charge - but taking 10% is outrageous.
  15. I’d also like to put my name down for the sheeve wheels, axels and bearings as separate items for both 4mm and 2mm please. There are hardly any options on the market I can see.
  16. I’ll chip in and agree - great customer service. I’d acidentally knocked off one of the hangers from the bunker on my Pannier and lost it. Totally my fault. Quick email later and one was sent out. Such good service definitely makes a difference.
  17. Maybe it’s the scale of the structure around the flywheel that makes it look small - thanks for the Shapeways upload. Other sizes might be useful but I have a feeling I can use the flywheel. Will watch this progress with interest.
  18. Looking good. Do you have any plans to make the flywheel available to the general public to print? I can't find anything as nice on Shapeways? The bent structural beams I'm guessing is made from normal plasticard? It certainly looks like it was designed to withstand any stresses the small engine / flywheel could throw at it.
  19. I was order 4312 - got my invoice request a few days ago. Parcel arrived today. These are hands down the best N gauge wagons I've ever had. I'm not an expert on the prototype but they are nicely free-wheeling and the underframe / top walkway detailing is superb. The printing is very fine and legible. For still a relative newcomer manufacturer to the railway scene this just shows what dedication can do. Thank you for producing a great model, and hopefully many more in the future. (Oh, and the smaller sized packaging they come in is very nice, enough protection whilst reducing excess plastic).

I would keep chat in a single place, and for me that would be here on RMWeb. Otherwise I find it becomes difficult to manage.
  21. Thanks, wouldn't even known what to look for.
  22. Finally got my own Peckett today - only to leave it at work! Quick question on the Lilleshall (black) version. The artwork shows the chimney to be plain, but there is a little valve like assembly on the model, which is no problem to me. Curious - what is it?
  23. Popped down today for my first ever visit. Nice little line, really good to see engines being put to some proper work.
  24. Hornby aside, I went yesterday and had a nice day out - however it did seem that there were a lot fewer people there this year. The tents were much cooler thanks to the cloudy weather, and maybe it was just the lack of footfall but the floorboard bounce didn't seem anywhere near as bad. Some cracking layout, across both a range of gauges and a mixture of British outline and European / American. Had a quick look at the upcoming Dapol 122 in O, which looks like it will soon be added to my roster.
