  1. Hi Chris I have charged up the batteries in my small pocket sized camera, just in case although the results may become a bit blurred as the day wears on. SS
  2. Many Thanks Dave, I have done a few at the Brum end, so will be looking to do a few in the black Country. It looks as if I will need to hollow me legs out to get all that beer in. Cheers SS
  3. Hi Dave Will be using a West Mids rover ticket, so anywhere in the area, preferably without to much bus travel as that is the day job. Cheers SS
  4. Hi Does anyone have any pointers on Liquid refreshment venues close to (say a 10 minute stagger) railway stations (open) or tram stops as I a will be in the area to partake of a few bevies of the local kind on Saturday. Cheers SS
  5. Where I worked all empty gas bottles were always marked MT in chalk, Acetylene bottles don't like any other angle than upright because of the Acetone in them. If you get one that has been laid down it has to be stood upright for at least 24hrs before use. BOC don't like getting them back laid down either. SS
  6. Used it on more than one occassion. It led to a few neck breaking minutes on discovering it had been closed, as many in Plymouth have been since then. SS
  7. My Dad used to work at a builders merchants until about '62 or '63 and the main part of the yard was concrete where the lorries and vans were, but the more distant parts where there was little or no vehicular traffic were compacted earth or possibly ash. Cheers SS

  13. Hi Gordon Which bit is the fiddle & storage yard please? Have a good Christmas. SS
  14. It will require some severe weathering before it's fit for BCB use, or should that be abuse? SS
  15. A bloke got on me bus this afternoon and pulled two packets of Senior Service out of his pocket before he could get his ticket out, I hadn't seen them for over twenty years. SS
  16. Does this mean a large number of ethnic takeaways appearing on the layout? As per the '70s
  17. (Entering the minefield) If it's an all airbraked train you might get away with applying the hand brakes to a number of vehicles to stop them running away should the air leak off whilst detached from the loco. Where as if a brake van is used the brake on that should hold whatever vehicles are left on the main. I don't know what the rule book and local appendix says on this point. Hopefully someone with local knowledge will help with this point. (exit minefield) SS
  18. I don't think that it was a good and proper load test as I was unable to count the number of tinnies used and later emptied, unlike a Ron Heggs bridge load test. SS
  19. Hi Chaz Some sort of jig might help to hold the turnout whilst setting about making the changes. Cheers SS
  20. Any wagons left on the main will need to be attached to a brake van. SS
  21. Wasn't Linda Lusardi one of the Sun page 3 girles back then? Of course if it had been a garage or tyre fitters it would have been the Pirrelli calender. :sungum: SS
