  2. The underbridge at the West end of Dockyard Halt was single track and built on local stone but when doubled it was done on brick. SS

Hi Gordon Just to throw a spanner in the works, instead of a square or rectangle as you have now, have you thought about a triangle which would give a longer straight length on the hypotenuse and tighten the end radii up by hiding them in tunnels, plenty of them on the exit from the 'cross. some thing along the lines of the 'fields by the MRC. SS

  6. Hi Chaz I would try and check it out before you go to a show, as our club layout used a similar idea to create an exhibition sequence only to find a big flaw in it about three quarters of the way through and we had to ad-lib it for the rest of the show. SS

  9. If I remember correctly they were produced under a different name possibly Westwood Models, which I believe were taken over by Pete Waterman. SS
  10. Hi Mark That should be OK in 3" equal angle, the top rail being about 3ft 6" above the walkway with at least one intermediate rail, It's the sort of job I would have banged up unless there was something in the spec that required something fancy. I 'ate doin, more than I hav' to. SS
  11. Andy I think apprentice's these days are on a par with hens teeth, so the tradesman has to do the job himself. SS

Having blown the photo up to as large as it will go using the Ctrl+ keys the angle looks to be about 3ins which has been bent (probably hot) around a former with the inside radius equal to twice the leg length of the angle. The former would probably be a short length of bar l Would guess 6 inch the length would be equal to the flange length, this would be dogged down on a bench with the angle on it and then heated and bent, with the top hammered down as it is bent to take the ripple out of it. Once cooled a gusset plate has been afixed with 4 rivets to strengthen it. SS Edit. PS. A job for an apprentice.

  15. Hi Ron Some very nice S & C you have there. Templot has come a long way since 2008, once you start playing with it again you will find that diamonds and slips are a lot easier to produce. SS

  17. Hi Stubby This may upset you a bit, but when I used angle to manufature handrail stantions we used 3"x3" angle for the stantion and 1" dia tube, which in 4mm is 1mm for the stantion and .33mm or nearest for the handrail. SS
  18. If I were you I'd check first that the books are available where you are. A friend of mine wanted a book for her sisters Christmas present and was going to buy it here in Blighty and send it to New Zealand u, until I pointed out that it might be available there. A quick check on the interweb proved fruitful and saved a shed load in shipping charges.# SS
