  1. Hi Kris Are the piers stuck down to the deck? If not, and asssuming that you built the viaduct with trackbed flat along it's full length, you could sand down the tops of the viaduct side walls so that they are flush with the track bed and using some straight timber longer than the overall length of the viaduct clamp it at various spots along the viaduct between piers and then pack under each pier to make it all flat. Hth. SS
  2. Yes I've been down the Brighton line once or twice with no lighting on in the various tunnels, us older kids use to frighten the life out of the littluns given half a chance. SS
  3. We only had a 120 ton/sq inch double acting press (real Hydraulic, it used water and a set of weights). It had two main tasks, swaging boiler tubes, and pressing new tyres on to Mercury (small forward cab pick up) wheel hubs. SS
  4. When I was in the 'yard as a boilermaker we used to use a punch and die on steel plate up to 3/8 inch thick. The thicker it was the rougher the finish got. They were either square holes with round corners up to an inch square or inch dia. The machine I believe disappeared under elf an safety, as it could also cut steel bar up to 3/4 inch dia and some idiot stuck his finger in one of the holes 1/2 or 5/8 and chopped the end of his finger off . Obviously there was no guard otherwise you couldn't get the plate or bar in it. SS
  5. I hope they have'nt spoilt it by moving the brewing from Horsham. SS
  6. Hi Colin You certainly have the abilities to move up to either EM or S4, S4 would allow some interworking on SMH with Old Lugger. I look forward to a new trainset build. SS
  7. Tooth paste is also useful for bedding in recalcitrant gears. SS

  10. If the beer mat is anything to go by, it looks like a pint of K & B bitter, a pity it's no longer brewed in Horsham. The Old Sussex is a very nice pint, if a bit intoxicating, hic! SS
  11. The 'ead on that be almost off a pint poured norf of the M4. I would certainly ask for a top up. SS.
  12. A turntable failure in Plymouth would not be a problem with a triangle at Laira and another one at North Road. SS
  13. Hi Colin Looks like the dogs proverbial's to me, a light weathering and the job will be done, I don't expect that most of us will notice the slight imperfections from normal viewing distances. Cheers SS.
  14. To score the inside of a bend use an old stanley knife blade, after folding run a fillet of solder along the inside. For other tips on brass bashing read some of Ozzy O threads. SS
  15. Hi Colin It appears that you have managed the worst of the mods without to much rivet attrition. I look forward to seeing the repaint. SS
  16. If it were a replica there would be loads of Cornish sunshine to wash it down. Hence the reference to Swamps.
