RMweb Gold JustinDean Posted June 17, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted June 17, 2022 In between work and the pub I managed to find some time to hack up some Celotex last night. It’s horrible stuff but I have loads of left over from the last building project and always try and recycle materials. I’m hoping next week to slap a load of filler over this. MrWolf
I had similar fun and games. I found it pays to rope in a helper who can hold a vacuum cleaner hose as near to the action as possible.

No helpers available so it’s cut at arms length, down wind in the garden, then given a good shake before entering the house where it still deposits about a million tiny particles everywhere. 1
RMweb Gold JustinDean Posted June 19, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted June 19, 2022 Made a start on the enginehouse tonight. Using Wills sheets this time as it seems to be a better match for this particular building. Jay

Jay I will be intrigued to see how you end up making the boiler faces - something I thought about when considering modelling the Sheeps Pasture winding house. Popular Post Middlepeak
Answer = plasticard + wire + lots of individually placed rivets. Great fun! Must get round to restoring this model some day! G 8 8

Middlepeak
Yes, lots if individual bricks laid in a herringbone pattern onto a plasticard base covered with 1mm graph paper. Took me a long time and probably accounts for my fragile mental state for a good while afterwards! G 6

I’ve got some herringbone brick paper but it may end up looking too flat. I’ll test it out and see before embarking on something like yours. I think getting past the boiler door challenge is a priority. PS apologies for not answering your text yet. I have an equally busy summer schedule so have been holding back until everything is firmed up. Seems like the engine house will be back in action July onwards. RMweb Gold JustinDean Posted June 29, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted June 29, 2022 While currently avoiding the boiler doors I decided to form up the shell of the larger, stone built part of the engine house using 3mm Palight PVC board. RMweb Gold Alister_G Posted June 29, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 29, 2022 (edited) Don't forget the big slot under the front window where the cable came out. EDIT: Hmm, not sure if that's the same, just looking. This is Middleton: And this is Sheeps Pasture: I think they're pretty much the same architecture, but the pulley at Middleton hides the detail. RMweb Gold JustinDean Posted July 26, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 26, 2022 A whole three weeks since posting! The enginehouse has been covered in DAS since the last post but busy times at work have stalled progress. Now I’m on holiday just up the road from @NHY 581 and trying to work out how I can sneak off for a trip to Lord & Butler. The youngest has proclaimed this is the last holiday she’s coming on with us and is attempting to cement the deal in this delightful holiday snap. Normal service shall resume in a few weeks, in the meantime have an excellent summer folks. Jay 1 2
RMweb Gold JustinDean Posted August 2, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted August 2, 2022 Managed to grab a little time this evening to start weathering the DAS trackbed using various pastels and a soft brush. It’s starting to look a little like this…. Jay 7
