Modeling uses of LFT items

As a health care professional I and many others are using lateral flow test kits. They consist of a box of ten self test items. A swab on the end of a 1.5/2mm diameter plastic tube, a plastic container of test solution, a cap for said container, a rectangular test unit, a silica bag and a self seal bag for disposal. 

I'm looking at the plastic tube and seeing a LMS n gauge signal post and the the solution and cap as a wagon load.  

 

Had anyone else used such items (duly sanitised of course) for modelling?

One or more upside down test units might make a good wagon load too?  

 

I suspect the swabs are the kind of plastic that's impervious to any sort of glue, paint or solvent.

I've been putting the little silica gel packets in the tool drawer I store metal squares etc in.

Someone has used the swab tubes as car park bollards.

I've repurposed the packs they come in as the card is quite good for building purposes 

I have just almost completed a small lineside store to hide a surface mounted point motor

i use the test units as mini sanding blocks , a source of styrene , etc

I use the swab tubes for applying diluted PVA for scenery work, particularly when adding to an already 'wetted' area a small top up of scenic scatter, leaves, rubbish etc
