RMweb Premium t-b-g Posted December 15, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 15, 2015 Excellent news and best wishes for the venture. The O gauge world would be a much poorer place without this range.
Poggy1165
Excellent news! Best of luck with the business.
RMweb Premium Mike Bellamy Posted December 15, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 15, 2015 I had the pleasure of meeting Trisha at the Mickleover show in October - happy to put our Club layout at your disposal as a test track once you get yourself relocated and settled back in the UK. Best wishes for the success of your new business venture. Mike .
RMweb Gold Argos Posted December 15, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 15, 2015 Great news, I've nearly completed my backlog of kits..... I wish you every success in the new venture!
RMweb Premium jjb1970 Posted December 15, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 15, 2015 Best of luck with this new endeavour, I hope everything goes well in the years ahead and the business prospers!
The Nth Degree
Good luck to you David, and I hope Geoff enjoys his time off.
JeffP
Will Tower remain as stockists? Their website is urging people to buy as Gladiator is closing down.
Horsetan
Does it matter now?
The Nth Degree
The retail deal will be up to David to negotiate separately. This was one of the questions I asked when negotiating with Geoff. If I remember correctly, Tower made up about 25%+ of Gladiator's sales. I'm a bit envious of David, it must be really exciting for him!
david.hill64
We will talk to Tower to see if they wish to continue stocking the range. Very happy if they do.
Grasshopper John
After I posted on your build thread David I wondered if you may have made a separate announcement bit of searching and I found it. Congratulations and very best wishes for the future.
JeffP
Does it matter now? Only that if people see that Gladiator is closing, via Tower, yet DON'T know it's continuing, David might lose sales.
Rob Pulham
Hi David, Have you taken over the range of rolling stock too from Geoff? He had some nice wagons in the range (I have one or two ) and it would be nice to know that they are not lost.
david.hill64
Yes we have the rolling stock range as well. There is likely to be a good deal on LNW 1 plank wagons! I have been in touch with Tower to see if they wish to continue stocking the range: we'll sort that out in the New Year.
RMweb Gold Argos Posted December 17, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 17, 2015 "There is likely to be a good deal on LNW 1 plank wagons!" ooh... I've just finished on of them, they were nice kits, I could probably justify another........
RMweb Gold Argos Posted January 1, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 1, 2016 In answer to the Tower - Gladiator question the following appeared on Tower's news page:-"Good news from the new owner of Gladiator kits. They will be gradually reintroducing the range of Gladiator kits during 2016. Obviously the kits will be brought back based upon popularity and demand." There is also a list of the initial kits to be introduced around March time and prices.http://www.tower-models.com/ I'd best get saving my pennies......... JeffP
Agreed....but will buy direct if I can.
david.hill64
Just to confirm that we will be ordering the etches and castings this week for the following kits. S15 King Arthur Coal Tank Director B1 Princess Patriot (unrebuilt) Royal Scot and LNER Beyer Garrett These were selected on the basis of information received at shows about what people wanted to see/buy. Others will follow, but to be honest we need some sales to finance stock! In that regard we are thankful to Tower's interest. There are still some issues concerning the Gladiator website, but now the holiday season is over I hope they can be resolved quickly. In particular we cannot access any email sent to the website and the payment system has to be updated. As soon as we get these up and running I will update the website and post here. There are still a few kits that Geoff has in stock which we can sell on: watch this space! Thank you. Dave and Trisha.
Kev_Lewis
I would be interested in a GWR Super Saloon, and possibly a Centenary Brake to run with it. My layout may only be a smallish BLT, but it would be nice to have something grand to run
JeffP
Will you still be doing the add-ons, like the bogie side control unit? I have one for a kit in (very slow) progress, and would be interested in more. Also I believe Gladiator did some quite nice hornguides/blocks? Or am I remembering wrong? No horn blocks though. Are you thinking of Martin Finney?
JeffP
Could be, or Laurie.
Rob Pulham
I suspect that you might be thinking of the Meteor cast hornguides perhaps?
david.hill64
We are interested in acquiring good quality photos of completed models of Gladiator products to be used as box labels. If you would like your model to be used, please email me at railwaycitytrains@btinternet.com with the image. Thanks! David
