RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted December 19, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 19, 2017 The only issue with Duncan is the tv version looks quite a bit bigger boilered than the real loco so may not make an easy conversion to either the original loco or book version. Peter Sam's tv model is also afflicted with a much less refined front end than the real loco, it will be interesting to see what they do.
knitpick
I'm hoping they do 'Duncan' after Rusty (i too can't wait for him but hope they manage to deliver in 2018). As you say, I think Duke would be incredibly popular! On a separate note I'd be intrigued to see if, with the growing popularity of RTT OO9 one of the retailers such as Hattons or Rails or someone like Model Rail takes the plunge to develop their own OO9 models. Greg Duncan? Duke?? Oh no - that's 2 more models where my kits have been overtaken by RTR [GEM Douglas & Prince for the uninitiated]. And I thought it was only 00 standard gauge where that was a risk. Ho hum.
Kerr Stuart 2451
I also have a Bachmann 'Rheneas'. Thus far it has run well on my test board so I'm now considering a conversion to DCC. Has anyone solved the problem of size wise fitting a decoder within the model? Chris
Edge
Hey guys; for those who are interested, I've designed a kit to convert 'Rheneas' into 'Dolgoch' and I've put it on general sale in my shapeways store https://www.shapeways.com/shops/blue-models
PenrithBeacon
Hi Guys, Rheneas is now on sale, and for a decent price right here: http://www.advantagehobby.com/307823/BAC58602/58602-Narrow-Gauge-Rheneas-Diecast-Construction/?pcat=1322 I've ordered one and it works out to about £86 for the engine and delivery This now sold out. Are there any British suppliers?

Edge
Tootally Thomas are the Uk importer, he may sill have supplies from the first batch. Fraid not. Tootally thomas now out of stock as well. there will be some kicking about - after all theyre hardly going to stop making Thomas & Friends models anytime soon, and some will make their way over from the USA to the UK
PenrithBeacon
There are some on eBay at a reasonable price but the cost of posting from the USA rules them out.
Hobby
If you are an OO9 Society member they may have one... I'm sure someone will import some more, that's what happened with Skarloey... BTW there's no "official" importer...
RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted January 3, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 3, 2018 I'd suggest dropping a line to Tootally via the contact page on his site as Steve is very helpful and probably has another batch on order when available as he imported a huge pallet of them and they've obviously gone. Edge
Moderately priced example here: https://www.trainz.com/products/Bachmann-58602-hon3-diecast-narrow-gauge-rheneas-thomas-locomotive I've checked and they do ship internationally, so about £100 - £110 depending on shipping charges and possible import tax
Edge
And another here: https://www.shopstarhobby.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1071_258_259_972&products_id=5898
JimF51
The dealer I have mine pre-ordered with, Blue Ridge Hobbies, has them listed at $87.39. Not sure what his shipping charges would be to the UK, but I paid approx $6.00 for my Skarloey. Jim F
Guest Midland Mole @ Footplate
I have done a quick review of it here. Alex
Hobby
Nice review, it would be handy for people if you compared the model's dimensions with Dolgoch so people can see how accurate it is for conversion? Stevelewis
Not sure how accurate this info is, as I don't have any interest in Rheneas, but I found myself on Kent Garden rails website tonight and they seem to be listing the loco as IN stock on their narrow gauge section
alfsboy
Tootally has more coming according to his Facebook page today .
RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted January 3, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 3, 2018 handy for people if you compared the model's dimensions with DOLGOCH so people can see how accurate it is for conversion?I'm seriously considering backdating mine to the book versions with a smaller face as in the books only the smokebox door was the face not the whole smokebox. I've got some faces from the tomix N models somewhere I might try taking casts from. Then I can have a proper TR pair or the SR versions
Hobby
Yes, Paul! Have changed the post!! My excuse is that I don't model British stuff!

Chameleon
Could do with a little extra plumbing round the boiler and an injector? On top.
knitpick
For what it's worth, my order for Rheneas arrived from 009 society yesterday - having been posted Thursday. Now to look at the conversion job; and it's looking more complex than Tal-y-Llyn was. Bah Humbug!
RMweb Premium Nile Posted January 6, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 6, 2018 Narrow Planet will soon be producing conversion kits that will cover different eras, as its appearance changed over the years.
RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted January 6, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 6, 2018 (edited) Edit: posted simultaneously with Neil Not to knock Edge's offered parts but for info Narrow Planet are about to release another conversion kit too with a few different options. Personally I prefer a brass chimney and platework so will go for their option which will no doubt be a tad more too.
