RMweb Premium Nile Posted October 26, 2017 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted October 26, 2017 Nearly there now, here's a small update. The exhibition guide can be downloaded from the website, scroll down to the bottom of the page to find it. (link in first post) In it is a list of the Dave Brewer Challenge entries, 8 in total. The 009 society sales stand occupies its usual place in the first squash court. In the next one will be a seating area where people can take a break from all the excitement. For those arriving Friday night to set-up there should be an urn in there for hot drinks. Well that's the plan.
RMweb Premium Nile Posted October 27, 2017 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted October 27, 2017 Just back from setting up, only about half done so far, so plenty still to do tomorrow morning. Here are some preview pics. Mers Les Bains, a large 1:32 layout. Underhill Town, a 009 layout. Sand Point, 009. I may be operating this at some point. The new look Dundas Models stand. Note the new light blue packaging.
decauville1126
Many thanks to the Greenwich team for another well-run event, which as ever had an excellent mix of quality layouts and trade. Reckon the jobs theirs again for next year!
ianp
It was an enjoyable exhibition. Quite a few rucksacks and backpacks in evidence, but thankfully not being worn in such a way as to be an offensive weapon i.e. not being worn on the back so as to take up three times a person's normal body space. PenrithBeacon
Usually found on the back of the flyer, this might help some find their way there. expong_2017_1.jpg 'The walk takes about 10 minutes'. You might want to re-think that, it's the best part of a mile and it took me 30 minutes but then I'm 73. 20 years ago it would have taken 20 or so. This year was my severalth visit to the show but it will be my last. In the past I have driven but the M25 jams have taken the pleasure out of driving to the east from Harrow (jams at Heathrow, M3 and M23 are pretty common at the weekends) so I thought I'd go by train. It took two hours with two changes and then a 30 minute walk. I won't be doing it again , sorry. The show was pretty good, not a vintage event but pretty good. I particularly enjoyed 'Mers les Bains' and 'Aerial and Pickles' but I thought the supporting cast was variable. All very well done but hopelessly romantic, not so much for a world that has passed as for world which has never and will never exist: #AltNGRailways@La-La Land. RMweb Premium ELTEL Posted October 29, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 29, 2017 Likewise I gave traveling by car down from Stafford You are quite correct it is a good 30 minute wak, I have on a couple of occasions grabbed a taxi (as it was raining) which from memory was about a fiver but probably 5 years ago Eltel

Fair comment, but looking at Paul's excellent pics I see some delicious modelling, and actually the idea that NG might be more widespread than it is in real-world 2017 is in no way offensive to me. We model to recreate, be it now, then, or fantasy. And in recent weeks I have paid my NG dues in both the metre-gauge Harz and Woody Bay.

RMweb Premium cnw6847 Posted October 30, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 30, 2017 It was an enjoyable exhibition. Quite a few rucksacks and backpacks in evidence, but thankfully not being worn in such a way as to be an offensive weapon i.e. not being worn on the back so as to take up three times a person's normal body space. considering there was more space between layouts I was amazed how many people tried to walk through, on, over me or clobber me with bag. Fortunately I spent a couple of hours helping on the 009 sales stand for safety! It was a very enjoyable show and there were some great layouts. As usual I was inspired to get cracking with some new projects I had purchased on the day.

kirtleypete
We thouroughly enjoyed that day - well organised and friendly and happily the catering was sorted out. Many thanks, Peter (Mers les Bains).
