RMweb Gold TravisM Posted October 15, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 15, 2017 I'm trying to find the identities of any Class 40's that had been painted into BR Blue from about 1967 onward's. I'm modelling Ais Gill in the late steam era and I really fancy one of the new Graham Farish Class 40's, one (or more) in green but a single one in blue. Any help would be great. RMweb Gold Phil Bullock Posted October 15, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 15, 2017 216 and 233 were the LMR Royal train locos in the late 60s and were usually well bulled up - and blue See Brush veteran's excellent photostream for images of them (admittedly dirty!) - and a few others https://www.flickr.com/photos/59835095@N02/albums/72157627818981963 Phil

RMweb Gold stovepipe Posted October 15, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 15, 2017 (edited) D248 and D240 were early into blue in mid/late 1967. https://flic.kr/p/dfPRGy https://flic.kr/p/9vyJLZ and slightly later was D250, no link yet. Edit: D245, an LMR machine, was I think second into blue in July 1967, https://www.flickr.com/photos/phill_dvsn/7614539402/ and D270 slightly earlier sometime before 4 June 1967, which makes is pretty likely contender for the Pelaw photo. https://flic.kr/p/avFfJW D270 York Summer 1967 by Burleyonian, on Flickr Edited October 15, 2017 by stovepipe

RMweb Gold DaveF Posted October 15, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 15, 2017 You must have an excellent indexing system Dave! Brilliant.... Phil A bit off topic but the catalogue and indexes, all handwritten straight after the slides came back after processing, take up over 3 feet of shelf space. Also each image prepared for the web has a caption as part of the file name which can then be searched on the PC - much more quickly than using the paper records. Russell Saxton
I did publish the full list or repaints of 40s green to blue some while back in Railways Illustrated, happy to send it to anyone who needs it. Or just print it here, prob easier.
