It's fair to say Model Rail, is still the largest of the Scottish shows however reducing Perth to "Provincial" status does it no favours at all. It is a great show large enough surely to be a "National" if adding tags these nonsense willy waving tags is really appropriate.  It's well worth seeing and (to me and the many that go) by far the equal of Model Rail.

Given that the traders are usually more interesting I agree fully with that. My chief excitement about Glasgow these days centres round the social aspect. There's little in the way of traders that interests me that much and not much I really require either. It was where I stocked up with wheels etc from Parkside Dundas, Gibsons etc before, but the only people who get much money from me today are the Societies and Book Law! :-)

HI All

I don't think you will be stocking up from either those traders at either Glasgow or Perth "but im willing to be corrected" although Parkside now owned by Peco can surely point you in the right direction.

Hold on to your Model Rail Scotland tickets!

Your Model Rail Scotland ticket to a great day out is not the only thing that's on offer at our event next week.
Each day of the event around 13:00 a free prize draw will be made using your ticket stubs that we collect as you enter the event. The type of ticket (ie Adult / Adult / Child / Family) and the ticket number will be announced over the PA - if its your ticket you have 1 hour to collect your special prize from stand 1. Should no one claim the prize a further ticket will be drawn until we get a winner.
All purchased tickets (advance or door day tickets) are valid for the draw, but please listen carefully to which type of ticket and the number that has been drawn.

Good Luck and have a fabulous day at the event.

I wonder what buses they're using?

Details on post 31 Dave but here it is again.

A beautifully preserved AEC Regent V with an Alexander body..just like the ones you might have ridden on when you were a bairn!

Put yourself forward for driver training and it could be you ferrying the faithful to the show next year.

The Scottish Region Study Groups demo stand will as usual cover many aspects of modelling including this year samples of work from two of our members one who is building a finescale (EM) layout of Edinburgh Princes St and the other an equally finescale S&C based layout.

Ian Norman will be on hand to offer advice regarding Silhouette Cutters which will be used in the reproduction of the accurate trainshed on his superb Princes St.

Hanbuilt finescale track with an equally impressive station taking shape.

Another of our members an extremenly well known finescale modeller will be on hand to offer his expert help with all things EM and especially the finer details like compensation and 'buffers!'..(correct answers of who this may be on a postcard please).

He also has a layout almost complete and ready hopefully for the 2020 show.

Based on an S&C location like Princes St it features finescale handbuilt track thats probably the best you will ever see.

If the telegraph poles were present you would hear the wind in the wires!

Classic S&C scene with a fine kit built Clan leaning to the elevation on the curve.

More images showing progress on these two incredible layouts will be on the demo stand B62.

The groups new main exhibition layout Larbert which is the follow up to the successful Alloa is also taking shape but still at an early stage.

These three quality AMRSS layouts are being built to the very highest standards and will without doubt in turn debut first at 'Modelrail' at Glasgow.

Enjoy the show and come and have a chat.

TMC (The Model Centre) Plan to make an announcement from their stand at Model Rail Scotland – it’s currently a well-kept secret, but we are informed it will be new tooling for the model and various liveries – keep an eye on social media for further updates

"Frissant: A hybrid pastry invented and named by Swiss Bakery (“artisan bread specialist”) in Vancouver, British Columbia. Frissant is a portmanteau of fritter (a small cake that’s sautéed or deep-fried) and croissant (a buttery, crescent-shaped baked pastry)."

Your in Glasgow Mark, I think you can assume deep fried. That's how we all take our Mars Bars after all
