Was in Eastleigh today so popped in to have a look at this shop.

Well-stocked in r-t-r (mostly at srp) with plenty of accessories. There is a good bargain box at the rear of the shop with a lot of Hornby carriages at about 50% of retail. Staniers, GW autocoaches, Hawksworth, Maunsells, Mk3s.... and a good selection of s/h.

And next door, they have an r/c models shop, so lots of servos and accessories available.

Only a short walk from the station.

Excellant source of spare parts as well, Indeed so vast, you can pick up almost anything.

its especially worth watching their ebay shop.

Though I'm not 100% sure, some stuff coming through the ebay shop often looks like Hornby factory returns / faulty stock is sold off via ACModels too.

That would explain the bargain bin. But the only faults that I could spot was a bit of damage to the boxes.

They started out by selling returns when the shop was over the railway bridge along Bishopstoke Road.

Fantastic service today! Some rather good prices (If you want a Hornby Schools in SR Black, BR Black or BR Green they have them at £60 apiece - I nabbed the SR Green one) and very considerately tested the locos I'd bought about 45 minutes after I first bought them!

Thanks to you all!

Also, as is well known, a great supplier of spares, bodies and chassis.

Does anyone know what is happening to this shop. I just googled to check the address, and found the premises listed as for sale. Is it winding up? A really wonderful shop for both new and extensive Hornby spares, and would be a shame to loose it.

They had two shops, one next-door specialising in wargaming and the like.

This one has closed down and undoubtedly is the one listed for sale. The very well stocked, friendly staffed model shop is very much thriving and dare I say one of the best ones in the south of England, very fortunate to have it as my local.

Are you sure about that, the imagery shows the closed store next door, but the pictures are firmly on the open store including the interior.

Maybe they get more custom from their online presence and are selling up the physical store.

It was very much up and running during my two visits in the last two weeks, the latest being last Thursday…also they seemed to be alive and well when I rang them yesterday. If they are closing the model shop I’ve had no indication or conversations about that during my visits.

If indeed it is about to close then it would be a great loss to local modellers.

Bit difficult to do that and still reliably stock Bachmann (who insist on physical presence) and I think Hornby tier system also favours physical shops

I was in there back in July and the adjoining shop was closed and looked empty. Great service though - I bought a Bulleid coach from their eBay shop and they sent me the wrong one, rather than go through the hassle of posting it back, I rang explained the problem and said I can be with you in twenty minutes - the correct coach was waiting by the till when I walked in. A well lit and well stocked shop.

This must be my nearest model shop, but on the only 3 occasions I’ve had to go into Eastleigh, over the last few years, they were closed (e.g. during early post Covid limited opening hours and a couple of weeks ago on a Monday).

I’ve had good reports, so really should make the effort to get over there again.

That's unusual, they are closed on Sundays and Wednesdays. Obviously they're also shut on bank holidays but be aware their opening times are 10 am to 4 pm.

Sorry Phil, yes it was a Wednesday now you’ve pointed that out and not Monday.

Fuzzy brain… and it was only 2 weeks ago ….Mmmmm?
