Hi all

 Thanks for the comments.

A bit more time spent out in the shed on the layout its been snowing and windy but the shed is 15 c and damp free :sungum: .

Finished off laying the track for the yard, just the join ares to tiddy up. The line off to the left of the crossover will be to the depot and right will pass under the main line to the works and a single track loop line with access to the fiddle yard.

Thanks for the interest.

Jez

Hi Jez,

 - very impressed by the progress!

Do you have a track plan? Sorry if I missed in in an earlier post. I'm trying to link the photos in my head and see how you'll get the nose of the 125 (closest to camera) back around and underneath.

Cheers, Steve.

Hi Steve

Sorry the track plan is in my head its a work in progress with changes and adjustments. Its a basic two track oval, with one part raised along the centre and the other hidden too the rear running through a fiddle yard.

Following photos show the HST running along the raised sectaion towards the camera (on 1st photo) which go around and down back behind the camera position to the left lower down area for the fiddle yard and retun line toward the window which will link back upto the raised line. :scratchhead:

Hpoe this helps ....Jez

Thanks for the explanation Jez, that makes sense.

Should be a lot of fun to operate, lots of scope for mainline running and plenty of shunting.

Does your time period overlap with the molten steel 'torpedo' wagons? I know there's an old 'euro-style' Lima one in OO/HO, not sure about in N.

Cheers,

Steve.

Hi Steve

Not planing on torpedo wagons or any internal works rolling stock, will be BR only. BAA ,BDA,SPA and telescopic hood wagons  with finished products ( steel coils, slabs ect) and raw materials coming in (coal, coke and ore) HAA,HEA and Tipplers.

Will use an 08 or 20 for shunting and locos will unload block trains through discharge facilties.

Well thats the plan at the moment!

Hi all

Not much progress with the layout but other projects on the go.

Here is my attempt at an British steel artic from the 90s. Its a Tomytec container trailer 3 axle chassis with a plastic card trailer top with cut outs for the coils to sit in and a trailer head board added to give the cab some protection. The tractor unit is a Tomytec Hino which i think could pass for a 90s Sedden Atkinson and the blue is not too far off either, just need some British Steel transfers to finish it off.

Thanks for looking.

Hi all

Finished off making sure locos and rolling stock run without any problems on the north end inclines, just enough clearence as can be seen in the first two photos.

Next fastern the base for where some of works buildings will go which will form the northen end of the layout which will cover over the three lines which go down to the fiddle yard.

Placed some works building and track just to get an idea of how it looks. Next is to get the buildings lined up and fastern down along with the track which has been recycled from another project. I will get on with a road bridge  that goes across to the works and hides the lines down to the fiddle yard.

Thanks for looking.

Jez.

Hi all

Thanks for the kind comments guys.

A bit more work on the works buildings and strutures.

The structure in the first photo is made up of left overs from walthers kits, odds and sods...not sure what its purpose is but i think it looks ok. I will add more pipe work and walkways.

Thanks for looking.

Hi all

Not much progress.....track laid and tested  in front of works buidings with a class 20 and a couple of hood waggons, will be using a mixture of ballast and tea leaves for the works area.

A road bridge is under construction which will come in from the right of on 1st photo and cover the three lines which run along the side of works, the previous girder bridge was to much and over powered the works building.

Hi all

 Thanks for the great comments.

A bit of progress with the road bridge to the works, and started on the embankment too.

Kept the bridge simple so it will not take any focus away from the main works buildings.

  Thanks for looking.

Hi all

A bit of experimenting with the main line embankment and yard area.

Wanted it to have ballast cascading down the top third of the the embankment rather then greeneria from top to bottom.

Used dried tea leaves for the areas alongside the track in the yard with ballast between the sleepers with a touch of brown aerosol spray and rails  rusted by hand. Not sure if i am happy with the result .... i find these large areas hard to get to my liking.

A few photos of a 37 with a short metals trip working passing the yard on the main line.

Thank for looking.
