Popular Post alant
I thought I would start this topic after following the Allan Downes - Iain Robinson debate with much interest. Hopefully this will give us lesser mortals a place to show our own efforts. I've started off with a few 7mm examples I have built over the last few years. 39

allan downes
Alant, Going by your profile, I see you're also a guitarist. Also, I see you come from Bucks, so may I ask what part ? Cheers. Allan.
alant
The pub was actually based on a model building in the Railway Modeller years ago, I think by Mike Gill (?) and the garage was again based on a model in MRJ. The shop and cottage though were both based on real buildings, not sure I have the original photos now though will have a look later. The woman who owned the cottage was quite bemused when I knocked on her door to ask if I could take some photographs in order to make a model. She was fine with it (I took along some model photographs to show I was not casing the joint). When I eventually finished the model I gave her some photos of the finished model. I'm a bass player Allan (failed guitarist!), play in a blues/rock covers band in and around the Oxford area mainly. I live in north Bucks but originally from Nottingham many years ago. Alan. RMweb Gold Popular Post Alister_G Posted July 18, 2013 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted July 18, 2013 Well, I feel a little overwhelmed by the quality of the models posted so far, but, as they say, nothing ventured, nothing gained, so here's my attempts. These are all 4mm scale, and are for my layout based on Bakewell in the Peak District. Although I have scratch built the structures, there are no scenics applied to the layout yet, so please excuse the unfinished look. Firstly, here's a road bridge: It's a plywood base with Slater's card and various thicknesses of plasticard applied for detail. Secondly, here's a couple of shots of the goods shed, and adjoining office (built as separate structures): These are both built out of a shell of 80thou (2mm) plasticard, and faced with Slater's sheets. Finally, here is the Up platform building, It's basically a wall with a small waiting room behind. This has yet to have various details added to finish it, including electrical conduits, a cast iron Gents toilet behind the open doorway (Where's Stubby when you need him?) and lots of posters on the wall. Again, built out of layers of plasticard with Slater's sheet on top. Thanks for looking, Al 19
