Disused and Misused

 

This blog is a collation of all the serialised track plans and descriptions of real (but disused) railways originally posted randomly in various forum posts here on RMWeb. Along with some (mostly) light-hearted and descriptions of (mostly) imaginary railways that might have been, but never were. Usually because they were bonkers (not viable) schemes. With the addition of some semi-fictional accounts of correspondence from the guilty parties at the original times. Along with an (in)famous scheme that actually was started, but (literally) never went anywhere - the Dawlish Avoiding Line (DAL).  As it will take me a while to collate all the bits scattered across the forum posts, the first thing I'll do is put links to the original forum posts in the Sidebar. To remind myself what was where. Then create blog posts, expanding the stories, and add them to the Sidebar as well.

The Totnes to Dartmouth Extension

Based on a “what-if” scenario, if the GWR had built a line to Dartmouth, putting the GWR “station” building in Dartmouth on a real platform.   Starting in Totnes and proceeding south…   Totnes Station   As was, c.1910. Bottom right is the start of the branch to Totnes Riverside, and the route to Dartmouth.
