As an aside I thought I would do one of my own models. I have here a Beattie 0298 class better known as the Beattie well tank.

This is an older Shedmaster kit. I bought it with the chassis built but nothing done to the body. The chassis is not the one supplied with the kit. I think the kit is a blown up Jidenco kit, it has the the feel of them.

I built the basic body a few years ago, but never finished it or did any more with the chassis. I do not know if the chassis ran but I have decided to change the way the compensation was done and sort out the cylinders and get the thing to work before finishing the body.

The compensation is on the front and leading driver pivoted to give more weight on the driver. It was on a centre beam but I have made two side plates to which I have reattached the top springs for the leading wheel, and the well tank outlines.

The original chassis

The striped down chassis.

The rebuilt front end. Just need to add some ties across the cutouts.

The body, which as you can see needs a good scrub up. Work will continue on this once the chassis is running nicely.

Could you show us the underside of the body, please?

Hi Ivan

Sorry for the delay I have not had the camera, laptop or model in the right places at the right time. Just added underside shot to the blog.

Aha, thanks for that. The footplate underside with the half-etched bend lines is as near as dammit identical to the Jidenco one I've got, so there looks to have been a blow-up from one to the other.....

Thanks for confirming that, for me it was the half etching on the cab and spashers. Very flimsy on the fret but not too bad when soldered together.
