MORE GOODIES

Finally I have some good news to report.

Work is going to be starting again soon. I had my wheels turn up from the UK. They finally arrived after almost a life time in Brazil. I had sent something like 30 emails to the post office here.

There is enough here to keep me going for a while.

Here is what I got. Something nice for you GW fans. Looking at the photo, at the top we have the loco wheels for the 63 mogul. In the middle are a set for an 850 pannier tank, and at the bottom is a pair of pony wheels for an Ivatt 2mt tank. The drivers I got from flea bay at a good price, but they are at my mums in the UK.

Hopefully in about a week I will have a bottle of phosphoric acid here, which means construction can recomence.

Meanwhile, the World Cup infrastructure still isn't ready. And don't mention the Olympics....

The only good thing about the world cup is that the roads will be empty everytime Brasil plays. So 90 minutes of piece then the roads will be full of drunks.

It amazes me that in the 1850's it took 9 months to make and build the Crystal Palace, now they can't build a football stadium in 8 years. And the most important part is flat and grows by it's self.

I don't think FIFA or the IOC has ever come up against anything quite as, er, laid-back as the Brazilian approach to projects....

Trouble here Ivan you have the guy doing his job on the site, earning a little more than minimum wage $350 USD a month. Then you have the bosses on thier $4000 + USD a month is not enough and take bribes from the suppliers so they can supply, skim the workers wages so they have a job, etc etc. I know I would not put much effort into my work. Then for the workers to cap it all the area get better and you cant afford to live there so you end up have a 2 hour plus bus journey each way after a 12 hour shift. Where we live you would not be able to pay the estate charges on a minimum wage let alone the rent, and it is not even a posh estate. It gets worse as you go into the government. They want to pay themselves 15 monthly wages a year. The presedent wants to hide her overseas expenses . As she says it is nothing to do with the people, it is government business.

Yipee, a Mogul on the way :-)

Imagina na Copa!

Yep Mikkel.

The flux is wending its way to me. The new cupboard is on its way too. The work bench is getting cleared ready for lots to go into the cupboard. Soon be full steam ahead!!!
