I bet you all thought I was never going to get back to this.

I have made a start on the cab. First job was to add the beading to the side lookouts these fitted nicely. I did not like the idea of soldering the sides to the edge of the spectacle plate, so I added a brass angle down each side as per the prototype. You will also see I have decided to go for a half cab, I will most probably go for No 1905 1907 with a dean bunker with Great Western on the tank sides. I may make up both bunkers and see what I think.

The firebox front and sides fitted well but I needed to shorten the tabs so I could assemble on the board. I then found out the cut outs in the splashers in the spectacle plate needed enlarging, better than being to big.

Once the firebox and spectacle were tacked in place it was time to add the cab sides, the use of the angle worked very well it not only gave a strong joint, but made lining up easy.

Next the cab roof was rolled and fitted with the rear support, which need a little work as it had been bent.

Maybe more tomorrow. Getting pestered to look for hotels etc for holiday. So hoping I will have some me time.

Good to see some more progress. Is 1905 a typo? The first pannier tanks on 850s were fitted in 1910.

Thanks. No it is not a typo. I probably should of wrote number 1905 1907. Which I have a photo of with panniers and a dean bunker with coal rail.

Nice to see this one moving along. Glad you chose a half cab variant, a little piece of the "old" Great Western in Brazil then! :-)
