is the figure on the left meant to be dad?
-
Stephen, spring removed so that there is less stress on the wire in tube, seemed a good idea at the time, hoping it continues to be so.
Rich, thanks for that, might still be out on saturday morning, just in a tidier state.
won't be out on saturday afternoon.

I need to learn to make chassis in order to make myself a pug!
-
The older type of road signs were used in the 50's / 60's and often seemed to be a bit of a botch potch mix of ways of signing things.
I think the oncoming vehicles thing is fairly new, however I speak only from casual research of my own, not experience.
-
so this method is similar to using point motors in that you drill the hole the same?
been struggling for a way of doing rod in tube (and this might allow me to fit my point on my viaduct!) due to distance between point and back of layout.
I'll have to have another play now!
-
Update: the motor has arrived an is on the modeling desk waiting to be fitted.
Have to resist the temptation to try and fit it before work tomorrow as I don't want to rush it.
-
I did see a beautifully photoshopped LNER HST done in both the garter blue and the green liveries
can't remember if they are on ficticious liveries or not.
-
i'm sorry to say that I personally have had issues with Dapol locos and their customer service.
while working in a model shop, locos sent back most often with issues were Hornby and Dapol

Ah, junction 6 but with less of a hill for me to cycle up!
can completely see central six (old goods yard now shopping centre)
don't forget the rabbits warren of pedestrian subways!
-
Rich,
Like missy I'm inspired by the posibility of waggon loads that this offers,
any chance of an LMS tarp?
-
but you have been a few years ahead of me on it.
I accept that you scratch build most things but that is your choice, besides, you actually have a plan of what you're doing.
-
And this is the secret reason that I have insisted on an estate as the new car - the wife has insisted on a small car - so small estate it is.
my previous layout (which never got finished) had baseboards that were different sizes in order to fit between the wheel arches of a fiesta's boot.
-
You've got to beat your little bro, you've been building your layout longer!
-
thanks, they just clamp on with G clamps at the moment
however, I just realised that I could use bolts with wing nuts to do the same job leaving me with G clamps for building stuff.
-
@Mr.S.corn78 - Was it you that out bid me for a set of six of them on ebay a few weeks back?
@devondynosoar118 - I've not come across the overlays for peco kits, are they available in N gauge?
-
The correct meccano parts have been aquired - just need a baseboard to put it in.
-
Really liking it,
any more details of how the point 'motors' are made and fitted?
thinking that might be the way to go with mine.
-
Looks well enough made to sell as knocked down kits for people to then apply detail to!
I shall not know the pleasure of chunky building for some years as I'm in the starting stages of an N gauge layout.
00 or perhaps even an 0 garden railway one day perhaps

Rich,
Photos will be posted when i've sorted one or two problems out with them.

Thanks Donw
I'm planning on getting a set of waggons that work has had in stock for a while that haven't shifted making the coal exchange whaf effectively owned for that company, I also plan on weathering them to the point of looking decrepid - I'm happy doing this to buildings and trucks, but not so much to coaching stock or locos, as such my locos will look rather new!
-
and here I was planning on using cereal boxes as underlay!
-
Looking good! wish I had that amount of space!
Was wondering what turntable you were using and how you were planning on powering it?

Nationalisation was in 1948?
The first morris minor (the MM) emerged in 1948 so it is possible to have a couple on a 1948 layout as it could be a brand new car, a little thin line of paint on the windscreen to make it a split screen would make it look like a MM instead of a minor.
To get away with a few 'brand new' cars, you could have a dealership on the layout - I only have space for the station and thats about it!
unfortunately my 'brittish railways' Minor van has to be a 1952 series 2 since the MM only came in 2 door, 4 door and convertable.
all other variants were 1952 or later.
As you say, It's probably easier to distract from the small detail of dates for car's being launched by having rolling stock being correct - no question in mind, nothing else to question kind of thing instead of questioning the year due to a mix of liveries may cause questions of something else.
I'm thinking that, given my black five, ivatt and 4F are all LMS livery I could get away with one or two larger locos, such as a royal scott in early BR claiming that the LMS locos are more local in the remote part of the Dales and so haven't been re-liveried yet but the longer distance locos from out of the locality have been.
although some DMU's in an LMS livery would be both interesting and amusing to watch purists get up in arms about - Similar to my friend Jamie running a US big boy round Long Preston while I ran Bill and Ben on the narrow gauge

Ok, the viaduct is built and going to be set slightly lower into the layout than first planned (basically, sit the legs of the viaduct under water instead of on the tow path) and have curved the canal the other way making a longer siding giving both a longer distance to set the gradient on but also slightly less vertical distance to cope with.
Rolling stock storage...

Hi Pete,
How robust has the cardboard case proven to be?
I'm debating cardboard, transport bag (appears to include cardboard case) or aluminium
