      [In response to Harlequin] Oh yes, done all that. An object lesson in overcomplication that succeeds in doing nothing, and it is particularly bad for searching removable drives. XP did it all, and 10 times faster.

       

      I'm aware of alternatives, and I will probably be pursuing that route. Total Commander is well spoken of.

      It can't find files with [text-string] in the filename.

      It can't find files with [text-string] in the file.

       

      XP did these 2 fundamental tasks excellently. They are the basis of any file explorer system. Apparently, MS has been promising a new file explorer for years.

      None. I merely referenced the colour applied to the Bachmann wagon, the colour applied to the Cambrian wagon, and compound made a reference to his thread.

    From WWI it looks like they were grey.

    The trouble was due to the large lap and increased travel of valve. It had come about through the increased throw and the angularity of the quadrant link. In the Walschaert gear the more lap obtained, the more work the combining lever had to do, and only a small percentage of the work was taken by the quadrant.
