  1. Whilst we are talking decoder settings, I have a question. Will the flashed over decoders come with the ability to turn off headlights leaving only tail lights illuminated? For me this is currently a bit of an oversight (especially on a class 37 which spends a lot of time in top and tail or pushing mode). I am also assuming the circuit board is clever enough for this to be a mere software mod at the factory. To antagonise slightly the latest Bachmann 37 and 47 have this ability (their 37 isn’t a match on yours in any other respect though). @Accurascale
  2. I had wondered along the same lines as you and also went to look. A quick peruse on Flickr confirms plenty of workings attached to the Mk5’s. Not sure what the comment is about.
  3. Whilst the sound file is absolutely brilliant it definitely doesn’t alter the acceleration settings when it goes into wheel slip. So your problem is mismatched consist, not the wheel slip, which is only sound only and not motion.
  4. Another thing I really like is the doors. Whilst they don’t open they are clearly a separate part which means there is a gap all around the outside just like a door in reality.
  5. Exactly the same as the others, tweezers. There are tiny little holes below the buffers for them, tricky to see but they are there.
  6. It won’t sort it as the file is rather basic. It’s on full power by about a quarter to a third of the power selected. Also only seems to have about 3 notches. On the whole it’s crap.
  7. There are a few more pipes that you haven’t fitted. I left one off myself as not fitted on the real 37423.
  8. I have really quite easy and looks super when done. I have started to weather 37423 as well.
  9. The Bachmann speakers in the new 37 are a bit crap tbh. What I would like to see is the accurascale 37 sound file available to flash onto the Bachmann Plux 22 chip!
  10. Great photos as always. That DB train did have some interesting wagons on it, SSA scrap wagons and pig pens without the pen bit (amongst others of interest). Also your train, I couldn’t identify the bogie wagons you were pulling.
  11. Yellow car is an Ultima Can-am, massive V8.
  12. FYI - The wheel slip occurs even when F8 is not pressed/latched. Only with judicious applications of power though.
  13. ……and it weighs a lot more and it looks a lot better and the sound it miles ahead of Bachmanns poor effort and the details everywhere are better and it costs less and it has stay alive, etc, etc. Anyway I was only posting to say you don’t need to take 3mm off the pocket, just remove it by gently pulling it down. Nice and easy.
  14. Sat on the track (doing nothing) for 30 secs prior to pressing F1 is more than adequate. Tested it earlier on 37419 and was fine after 20 seconds.
  15. Only on an accurascale thread would the some of the above guff be tolerated. The boys produce the best sounding off the shelf loco ever and still people moan about details. Smile and wave boys, smile and wave. Anyway after me banging on about getting 37800 in its current livery announced by accurascale I would now rather have 37611 in the same livery. Chop, chop, money waiting. 😉
  16. Get it bought at £600 then. They are reliable cars and certainly an amazing first car. Rear drive is so pure, he will be a proper petrolhead before you know it.
  17. Top work. The above were my observations after extensive testing (playing because it sounds so good). Thanks for adding the above, I will do some CV changing.
  18. That MX5 is certainly cheap and I would guess pretty rusty underneath. Have a decent look Jim (with a tapping hammer!). Also what would the insurance be like? Shockingly expensive would be my guess (assuming it’s an 1800, even a 1600 will be monies).
  19. No problems with my sound fitted ones. I have just uploaded a fairly crap video to YouTube but gives a good idea of the sound. It’s very good indeed. Enjoy. .
  20. Well I have tested 419 on the dyno! Sounds are so good with growl everywhere. When you think full power is already applied at about half throttle there is still more to go, very good indeed. For me the Bachmann model is not in the same league. The whole model is a positive all round but highlights are: Red LED type lights seen on many current 37’s look amazing. Kickplates are works of art and very fine. Nose aerials are metal (strong). Backs of buffers are super detailed. Can steps and chassis detail are fantastic. lLit dials are very nice and easily seen from distance but not overly bright. Fan, fan cowling mesh and horns are very fine. Bogie chains are super fine. Runs perfectly smoothly. It’s very heavy. No doubt loads more to say on the super positive side. A truly stunning rendition of my favourite class of loco.
  21. 419 and 423 have arrived with me (already, very fast delivery). Only had a brief look at 423 and popped it on the scales (it feels very heavy in the hand). The details, paint, finish and overall quality are all outstanding. Big well done to accurascale. On the scales 423 weighed in at 683g, I’m sure that will lead to excellent running characteristics and is perfect for my helixes. Anyway must go, I NEED to hear the sound and test the comprehensive light package. Be back soon.
  22. I wasn’t doing a red pen homework correction but merely pointing out your mistake. The fact that both ends have changed is mere details. I’m pretty sure I read in an article that leaks were a problem. As such that mod seems to fit for that issue.
  23. Your pictures above are of different ends?
