  1. Production samples looking fantastic and minutes away now, excited. Can someone please tell me what the layout they are pictured on? Looks very nice indeed.
  2. Not experienced those exact couplings myself but have other hunt couplings. In my opinion they are a good idea but poorly executed. Cheap brittle material (no doubt someone will say that is what 3d printed material is like, well in this instance it is not fit for purpose), poor tolerances and also very little R and D. I get the impression they have not tested the couplings very much on a layout. I also passed on my impressions to them at Warley and they told me that things have improved since I last bought some. I didn’t really believe them and your post seems to confirm my thoughts.
  3. Mosquito? Total guess based on the props looking so close to the cockpit and very forward.
  4. Just spent 2 mins checking on Flickr and it definitely has them still on both ends. It pays to do your research, like accurascale clearly have!
  5. Thanks Chris. As you have added a link I’m sure it will be useful for others.
  6. Can someone tell me where this project is at please. I have looked on the website and not found the detail about when Caroline is due. If someone from Revolution is thinking of replying “it’s on the website” don’t bother as I can’t find it.
  7. Swap the wipers over (left to right and vice versa)! 1 min job.
  8. I’m going for: Argument with a container.
  9. This beast is crying out to be modelled in its current state. 66199 sat in Hinksey yard this afternoon.
  10. Phone pic taken by me this afternoon. Purely added to force the accurascale hands!
  11. Last comment by Mark of Rainbow Railways hits a note that I must mention. Whilst some people procrastinate about which model is best (I’m certain I have backed the right horse) and fuss over a windscreen join that can easily be filled and painted if it’s the last detail to make your loco/train/layout perfect in every way, the batch is very rapidly selling out. Waiting to see if I’m the flash it’s what you want will definitely be the downfall of many a hopeful purchaser. I cannot wait for the six I have on order which has been exacerbated by seeing 3x real 37’s today in the flesh. Top of the pile was 37800 thrashing out of a loop it had waited in for an hour, inspirational stuff. When are accurascale announcing 37800 in its current livery? A given I’m sure (or at least hope).
  12. Sorry to see you and the layout leave these pages but I will follow on Facebook. For those without Facebook, (that was me as well, I hate it) but last year I set up the most basic of profiles purely to look at Model railway stuff. You give away no details but get to follow the things that really interest you. I also have no friends on there as my only reason for it is to see some modelling content. Just a thought for those not down with the horror show that is Facebook in general.
  13. I need to keep up. Thanks for correcting me. I worked at Culdrose for 2 years (2006-2008) and they were part of the furniture (FRADU) back then.
  14. The Navy use the Hawks to simulate missiles or enemy aircraft to target ships that are in workup. Every Thursday the Navy have a war (known as the Thursday war) where the Hawks are very busy.
  15. I agree all round, but, if they dump the price of the old/current one then that rather smacks of taking the proverbial with its current price. Admittedly I don’t think they have released any recently and I think they do take the aforementioned.
  16. Just fitted depot plaques, blinds, the accurascale Lokpilot chip and crew (painted) to my 92038. Honestly this is one super detailed model and the functionality with the Lokpilot is amazing. So many light configs, auto off cab lights and individually controlled pantos or switching ones depending on travel direction. Really a comprehensive set of features. I don’t even need a 92 but it’s a keeper for sure (also have an 89 coming and can’t wait for that). Hats off to the Accurascale team on the 92, now get to work and deliver me my 37’s please. 🙂
  17. I’m 16 months into temporary retirement (I finished 23 years at my previous employer and have been drawing my pension since the day I left). Now is the time to try and find some work that suits. I’m not too fussed about chasing the beat paid job and as above it’s a job not a career. I am only doing it to enable me to do what I want and need in life. It will be work to live not live to work. I can entertain myself without work (2 kids, 3 cars, motorbike, house to run/diy, walking with the odd trip to the pub and of course model trains). What job I do is up in the air but hopefully I can find something I enjoy that pays enough.
  18. Fitted my replacement TPE MK5 trailer with a decoder today and tested it. All lights working perfectly (top, markers, head, cab and destination), obviously interior as well. Of note is when the top light is turned on the marker lights also illuminate. When you turn on the headlights it also turns the markers on. So you can have: Top light and markers only Headlights and markers only Top light/headlights and markers all on This is the decoder I used that does it all.
  19. Everything in the military has a use by date, including toilet roll, washing up liquid and bars of soap. It’s good training for them at the very least. I’m sure that a heat seeking missile has other options after heat to ensure it hits its target.
  20. Thanks. Mine is basically finished apart from paint. It just slipped down the priority list when 59/TPE Mk5’s/warflats/various other stuff jumped the queue. I will re-commence work on it and the runners soon. Looking forward to having it completed as I do love engineering wagons. Is yours on a thread?
  21. 59206 is nearly finished in Freightliner G+W livery. Just requires some hand weathering followed by the airbrush (I have already painted out the pickups and painted the wheels, they make a massive difference). The nameplates fitting and possibly a driver in the end not yet populated. It is fully modded up and detailed and fitted with Legomanbiffo sounds. I may in the future modify the lights to get the correct config but only if I can still have the yard light mode. Really happy with this loco, it looks great with the mods/repaint and it runs superbly. Will add more pics when finally complete.

    Class 59 in 00

Today I have given my new 59 an extended run on the layout. Fair play to Dapol, it’s very quiet, powerful and smooth. It definitely took way too long to arrive but at least it runs great. I have modified the bits that were wrong and it has had a full repaint. Just some details to sort and weathering. A very nice loco overall.
