  1. Ha. More bad news. Thanks I wasn’t sure when I wrote it.
  2. Whilst not wishing to jump in two footed I do have a couple of issues with the new Bachmann 37. It’s quite light (not easy to fix) and the sound file for want of a better word is “crap”, at least it is on a V5 decoder though! Bring on my AS 37’s. The new 47 was a much better all round effort for me.
  3. Update. 56081 finished and been running great on Badgers cross. Also took over completed Northern Rail 150205 to play with but the coupling disintegrated and won’t go back together (anyone have a spare powered one?), no pics of the naughty 150. I have also almost finished a war flat with load, just a small amount of airbrush weathering and some buffer grease to go. The 59 has had the yellow on it today, along with 47727 in its current guise. Also started on my TPE Mk5’s. More next week.
  4. Fran, do you know the CV change to make all my lights work? My issue is I only have markers on F0 and no headlights next to them on. They do work on DC though.
  5. Anyone know how many functions a DCC decoder needs for the trailer vehicle of the TPE set? Also does it have day and night settings? I’m asking because I only have marker lights and the top light illuminated. There is another bulb inside the cab that I can’t get to illuminate.
  6. Whilst trying to work out the lighting I fitted a sound chip to aid my detective work. I can confirm a speaker is fitted in the under frame boxes.
  7. They actually did (shocker for TPE and DHL) but completely devoid of passengers! 😂
  8. DHL deliver yet another accurascale stunner. My Transpennine Mk5’s have just turned up. They look truly stunning and the box is a work of art. Looking forward to testing them soon. Great work team accurascale.
  9. I think it was just one of the 66’s was the colour of the Hattons 66623 as above. The rest were darker. I think it was 66413, off the top of my head.
  10. Back on the topic of my workbench. Dapol 59 paint is nearly complete, just yellow to go. Sound is fitted and chassis is ready to receive the repainted body into Freightliner G + W, still 59206. It’s a fun masking job doing this livery, I have previously done a 66 that turned out well. A few pics of the Dapol 59 body compared to a Hattons 66 now both are in the same livery. The orange difference is rather noticeable! The 59 will be completed this coming week and then it can go to work on Badgers Cross. I have (just airbrush weathering) nearly completed a Northern Rail 150206 repaint along with 56081 as it is today in BR Blue. Update early next week. Plenty more in work as well.
  11. From the one picture I have seen (side on) it looks like that is the case. The Wipac clusters appear to have gone.
  12. Absolutely Phil. It’s almost all in the prep. I personally scratch all transfers off with a knife at 90 degrees to the surface (always done it this way). I then smooth over the whole item with micromesh (posh wet and dry). I also never fully paint strip the stuff I am painting. Lloyd if you are mulling over whether to redo it then you have your answer. It will eat away at you later if you leave it.
  13. How do. Initially when I painted some DCR locos in the new scheme I just mixed my own paint (this was as soon as the first 56 was done and no paint was available. Subsequently I have bought ready mixed paint in the correct colour from Rainbow Railways. I buy most my paint from them now. Good colours, easy to spray with an airbrush and the pots are quite big. They come highly recommended from me Lloyd.
  14. I’m after 3x ice cube type boxes for 21 or 22 pin Bachmann class 37’s. Not the early type polystyrene boxes. Anyone with some to sell please PM me. Thanks.
  15. More on the above shortly. Dapol 59206 has arrived and immediately been ripped apart for a repaint. I have also lowered the exhaust which now looks great, removed the NRN aerials (one moulded and one etched) and the plinth the etched one sat on. I have filled the NRN attachment holes and then filed a flat recessed plinth as per real loco. Also the roof grill was sat up horrible but sorted this by bending the attachment tabs with pliers. All in all for a small amount of work it looks really good now. Next is the repaint which starts today. Am I impressed with the new 59? I think so, sort of. Cannot believe the gestation period and to then get bits wrong is quite poor. It does look the part, is heavy and will no doubt turn out to be excellent when complete. The opening doors feel like an after thought on many levels. Not least they don’t really open due to the chassis block behind. Anyway bring on the completed loco with new Legomanbiffo sound (ordered) and using the spare accurathrash speaker from the 92. More soon.
  16. Rail carrying wagons are progressing nicely. More soon on these. Yet another item has jumped the queue. Take one butchered 66 (god only knows what someone had done to the big cab end), it was super cheap though. Anyway I’m turning it into a dummy GBRF loco to double head or top and tail. Due to the damage I needed to graft a spare cab end on. Had a chopped up 66 body I had used for another project (class 69) lying around, and voila. Will prime and paint next.
  17. So I rang today and basically they cancelled the original order as they couldn’t accept the pre-order price I paid. The above point is fair enough. What they failed to do was send me an email to explain why and another to offer a revised price for me to take up. Acknowledged it was a failing on their behalf. Anyway, resolved, model inbound, me appeased and case closed.
  18. I guess I will have to call to sort it out. An email is much easier for me (after all the option of email is there to use). I understand it is a busy time of year. Unfortunately no contact was made by KMRC to say they couldn’t progress my order for any reason. Poor form on the communication front. I will call tomorrow and hope to get a decent reply as to why my order was cancelled and no contact was made prior.
  19. Pre-ordered a Dapol OO 59206 with KMRC in 2018, now they are finally in the UK, KMRC cancel my pre-order without reason. Has this happened to anyone else? Did you get any explanation as to why? Off the back of the above I emailed them over a week ago to find out what was happening. No reply, hence starting this topic. Poor form with really bad communication from them. I personally think they didn’t like my pre-order price but they haven’t bothered to tell me such.
  20. Well 92038 has arrived with me and one word sort of covers it, Wow. It’s the full package as with any accurascale item but on a loco (my first) it is another level. Stunning packaging, detailed and interesting paperwork, hefty model weight, quality of finish all over the entire thing, no loose parts, incredible detail etc. It absolutely feels completely worth the very reasonable cost to purchase it. I haven’t run it yet but am certain it will be everything I expect. All round a very high quality all encompassing package that has every T crossed and I dotted. Well done team accurascale.
  21. Meanwhile in the “Modern classic cars thread”! Maybe someone (not me) could start a, “Not interesting chat about modern cars thread”.

    Class 59 in 00

Spoke to the guys on the Dapol stand at Warley today and they are in the country. They are due to be shipped to shops from early next week.
  23. Well done accurascale on another great announcement the Hornby item in standard form is expensive and fairly crap. Also some of the stuff said above is just utter tosh. I’m pretty certain accurascale is being run as a business so releases are based on sound business plans where they expect to make money. Obviously the class 50 fits the bill and will appeal to enough people to sell the quantities required to make a profit. Smile and wave boys, smile and wave.
  24. Off the back of @big jim putting some pics on his thread of some switch carrying wagons I decided to start making my own set. The pair of barriers (RRA) at each end of the main wagon (FZA) were not going to be too hard. They are OCA chassis so I’m using the Bachmann model as the base. The main wagon looked to be trickier. After doing some research I decided to start with an unlikely candidate, a Bachmann JGA! It was a good choice for many reasons. Anyway below is the progress. I have taken apart the JGA, chopped it up, modified the buffers, made the deck and sides from scratch, added lead to the chassis and started to add the details. I have added the strengthening angles to the side members and the handbrake wheels. Next is all the details down the sides and the deck to hold the extra long rail sections (which will be added). I’m very happy with the result so far and can’t wait to get it complete and weathered. Then I will crack on with the barriers. @Phil Mc progress already.
  25. With respect, if you just like to run model trains (as do I), the details don’t sound to be of that much importance to you as they are to me. Not meant as a slight on you but horses for courses and all that. If you renumbered 402 to 418 most wouldn’t notice it wasn’t 100% accurate or indeed be that bothered. Anyway I’m looking forward to an accurascale exclusive of 37800 in its new livery.
