Most of my friends didn't smoke as it would mean less money for other things. So most liked a drink, some bought records - lots, some of us ran bikes, me model railways. Lots of us gigs.

Lost two grandparents to smoking induced cancer. I am totally amazed that anyone under 50 actually starts. When I was at school smokers were generally treated like pariahs. I refused to do as a prefect requested once so she reported me, so I dropped her in it for school bus smoking. I eventually at the age of 16 went to motorised transport and gave up the school bus as my moped probably did it for about 10p a week.

The Lima is nearest to 119, checked Hornby, Lima, DC, and pictures of Trix. I sliced one side off, carved off the top edge and put a piece of plastic card along the top. Then covered in rubber, twice, now got about 20 frames before the moulds started to wear out.

I abused one a couple of months ago, calling them a dirty b***ard, he looked sheepish and I was near enough to security to have backup.

Folding up and fitting handrails today, having to drill some holes where there was an error in the etch. I am leaving the guards area until Lowrider fitted. To buy 3 x sets MJT frames 12 axles (asking for 20 on axles 4 loose) DMU disc Job list Gangways Exhausts Inner end details Paint interior Glazing Assemble motor bogie Assemble other 5 Bogie sideframes (find 12 good ones) The 119 will have cost me nearly £200 to have built with roughly 50 to 100 hours of work. Underframes - had spare centre from conversions. motor bough cheap from a remotorer, could not find my unpower underframe (Evil* body used for B430 DMS conversion, cabs were missing, my TCL had BR1s on it, still no idea where I put it). Had to buy a Ebay evil DMBS. Bodies, Worseley etches, Triang roofs (bought a few random Mk 1s for parts), MJI roof dome (mould taken from a 116 conversion), plastic card bow ends on top of brass. Interior, lots of plastic card and resin seats Bogies So far Lowrider ordered, frames will be resin. Planning Gibson wheels. * Evil DMBS, the unpowered Lima DMBS which should have been a DMS, I have converted 5 of the bu**ers!

I used to have a car assembled in Germany, gearbox from France, engine from Merseyside, but British badged. Actually a European car is the more exact sense. Current British built car has a German gearbox made by Zepplin.

I started my detailing up on Lima and Hornby Diesels, adding metal handrails and rebuilding a tatty S/H Hornby 47 into a WR pet loco (one of the river named ones). Wagons, Airfix of course, lots of minerals and cements. Ratio were a good basis for learning coaches.

My problem has always been painting and lining. Slowly getting better. And now I think just about acceptable. Decent surface, many primers are too coarse, I am currently trialling a Tamaya product. Applying paint, only been getting good results since I gave up on cheap airbrushes and bought an Iwata. Lining aghhhh!!!!! Still the worse bit. Tend to use ModelMasters mainly now as Pressfix is difficult to see through. Ok though on choc cream, but blue grey, pass the ModelMasters, but that one thin white line transforms the livery from toy to model like nothing else. I did try a lining pen, ended up strioping and repainting, I think I need lessons on them, Now only use for window frames.

Getting quite good now. More NCC1701D people as well.

Due to the way I have got hold of bits not enough Lima, then I used one to beef up to cast more frames from.

Got a Low Rider on the way, will order some MJT frames for the other 5 later.

I am in mid to late 50s and I am getting worried that my pension will be too small. I will probably be working past retirement to make sure I will be OK. One of my bosses is part time (3 day a week) at 71. I reckon I will work full time to 68 then play it by ear. And I was told when in my 20s, retire at 60.

I am planning on a few more DMUs 1 x Swindon 120 - from what, still to be decided. 1 x MetCam 101 - need to find some cheap Limas to modify. 1 x 103 DMBS - will use old Hornby 110 shells For another idea 1 x GRCW single car (122) from a Lima shell with DC cab fronts and MJI cast domes. 1 x GWR twin car 33 & 38 I think it is, no idea on source yet 1 x 3 car Swindon pre 126s WR version, again no idea but I could see brass being used. Still have a 116, 117, 119 in the shops, the 117 is a revisit as the DMS dismantled itself 8 x 3 car DMUs for one layout so far. 6 decided carriage rakes (so far).

Tamaya tape is excellent.

Grinding for Saviour at the moment, thought I had it last night, but found a second level, and got 8 days! 650 solar weapon kills* and 1,000,000 points in Nightfall Done 480,000 (as 400,000 was end of first level and 50 odd kills). So will grind out about 15 Nightfalls then spam strikes with lots of enemies with full solar builds. Titan has a good Solar HMG, Warlock a trace rifle. * Flaming hammers, golden guns and blade barrage do not count.

OK As to Brian, I will write to him AGAIN Phone always rings out. Since my 2ABCDEFs are stalled (2C BSO, 2A & 2D BFK 2DEF TSOs pls some Limas) working on my Mark 1s 2x TSO and 1x BSK from Triang, currently working on lining and running numbers, the loco chosen also needs some detailing work, not shiny enough plus tender axle boxes need painting. HMRS lining is difficult to use!

Been working on the lining today, hopefully now complete, currently sitting under a coat of Klear

View from my team mate, all Meta weapons were banned as was heavy, most of this stream is sitting in orbit. I am better at Iron Banana but the other players were so much better, but I was probably the oldest competitior.

Took part in a Destiny tournament today Knocked out after 2 games. I cannot play super fast movement and I am too old to keep up! Was not a wipe but we lost.
