  1. Evening All, I'm still putting my lockdown time to good use by adding some old video tapes to my new YouTube channel. The latest addition is a further instalment of my 1992 video shot on the NYMR and this is the link if anyone would like to have a look: Hope it's of interest.
  2. Evening All, The latest video on my YouTube channel includes shots of HSTs at Marazion in 1989. There's also a ride on the St. Ives branch line filmed through the front of a heritage DMU. Here's the link if anyone would like to see it: Hope it's of interest.
  3. Morning All, I recently put another Swiss video on my new YouTube channel. It was taken in 1997 and features the Gotthard line long before most of the trains were routed through the new base tunnel. Here's the link if anyone would like to have a look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8tOJpuz4bo&t=5s Hope it's of interest. Tschau! Ron.
  4. Evening All, Part Three of my 1991 Ffestiniog Railway video is now on YouTube, so come with me for a ride from Porthmadog Harbour Station to Tanybwlch behind Double Fairlie 0-4-4-0T MERDDYN EMRYS: Hope you enjoy the ride.
  5. The circuit in Dorset looks a bit tame compared with the twists and turns, not to mention the gradients, at Dobwalls. Pity it didn't last long though - Dorset's somewhat nearer than Australia!
  6. It certainly was complicated, but no doubt the engine drivers knew where they were going!
  7. Morning All, Part Three of this video is now on YouTube. It takes us from Eisfelder Talmühle to Drei Annen Hohne in a special train hauled by a vintage diesel railcar. From Drei Annen Hohne we take the Brocken line behind one of the 0-4-4-0 Mallet Tanks. This video ends at Goetheweg, but will be continued... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AerJwcXoZSQ Hope you like it.
  8. There was clearly a lot of interest in the Forest Railroad at Dobwalls, so the second part of the video I shot there in 1989 might also be of interest: Further instalments will be published as time permits...
  9. Afternoon All, The second part of this video is now on YouTube; I hope it will be of interest: Ron.
  10. If anyone would like to have a look, Part Two of my 1999 video is now on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUWqnqun490
  11. After 60009 left the NVR it had to run round at Peterborough before setting off on the run south. This gave me time to beat it to Huntingdon:
  12. That looks like the occasion. It ran on both the Saturday and Sunday, so your photos could be from either day.
  13. Evening All, In October, 1994, 60009 UNION OF SOUTH AFRICA made it's first trip out of London's King's Cross station and travelled up the East Coast Main Line to Peterborough where it reversed and ran onto the Nene Valley Railway via the Fletton Loop which links the NVR to the main line. This was the first time that a special train had run onto the Nene Valley from the outside world. The A4 did a further run on the NVR before retuning to King's Cross in the evening. I was there with my video camera and my footage from that day is now on my YouTube channel; as well as
  14. Afternoon All, The latest addition to my YouTube channel is a journey from Sagliains to Ospizio Bernina on the Rhätische Bahn. It was taken in April, 2003 when there was still plenty of snow at the higher altitudes. Here's the link if you'd like to have a look: Hope it's of interest.
  15. Needless to say, I'd never heard of Dobwalls and only went there because I'd heard there was a miniature railway there. The first time I went I said to my wife "I don't suppose there's much there, so we won't be there long." They ended up throwing us out at closing time and we were the last to leave!
