In the first photo I notice the tripod legs seem to go through the floor.
is there a large lump of DAS or concrete down there to counteract vibrations?

The Modelu guttering etc is lovely stuff and looks really good assembled.
Be warned though, some of the parts are tiny and the “carpet monster” loves them.

Re coal tar:
I used to work in the steel industry where coal tar was a by product of coke production.
No surprises regarding colour - black
viscosity was variable depending on how much water was entrained.
At it’s best it would be like runny honey.
Thank goodness you don’t model smell though it was like very strong bitumen and it’s chemical composition was foul.
I, for one, am plenty old enough to get the BTO reference.
The tunnel has been cunningly placed too. From either half of the layout the viewer has no clue that it isn’t a scale mile long!

I have always felt that you learn best from your mistakes.
if nobody points out, politely, that this or that is not great then the assumption will be that all is well.
Of course you will also get the rivet counters who are at the other end of the spectrum but I can live without them too.
if I ever saw something that I knew you could do better on here I would feel empowered by your attitude demonstrated throughout the thread to mention it.
On other treads I might choose to keep quiet
