  1. My order is on the way! This will, hopefully, give a mojo refresher and the layout they are intended for will get restarted! David
  2. Subscription copies will likely be affected my the current postal disputes I suppose.
  3. I was serious about the concrete, less so about the DAS. Vibrations would play havoc with imaging. D
  4. In the first photo I notice the tripod legs seem to go through the floor. is there a large lump of DAS or concrete down there to counteract vibrations? D
  5. Thanks for these photos. The difference in the last two is amazing. Meanwhile courtesy of the BBC &Mr Webb…..
  6. Fewer pedants on the site would result in its closure due to lack of site visits David
  7. I look forward to more Jovian images. Your technique will improve with practice too a la wall building! D
  8. Lovely pics, Jeff. I just knew that the rear views would be stunning, especially photo three. D
  9. The Modelu guttering etc is lovely stuff and looks really good assembled. Be warned though, some of the parts are tiny and the “carpet monster” loves them. D
  10. Re coal tar: I used to work in the steel industry where coal tar was a by product of coke production. No surprises regarding colour - black viscosity was variable depending on how much water was entrained. At it’s best it would be like runny honey. Thank goodness you don’t model smell though it was like very strong bitumen and it’s chemical composition was foul.
  11. So no Blood on the Tracks then! (Gratuitous Dylan pun). would your blood not pass for Midland Red and therefore save some paint? David
  12. You’d only be sad if you papered the bunker wall with them! D
  13. I look forward to seeing picture two replicated when the roof is on. It’s a lovely shot. D
  14. I, for one, am plenty old enough to get the BTO reference. The tunnel has been cunningly placed too. From either half of the layout the viewer has no clue that it isn’t a scale mile long! Great stuff, Jeff. D
  15. Of course there are those of us who take (at least) three weeks to do a day’s work………..
  16. Phones are smart. Users less so……..
  17. Surely the Coastguard or RAF could make an airdrop (digestives included) After all what do we taxes for. D
  18. Replacement vehicles arrived in Motherwell today. lovely surprise! David
  19. Even relatively humble railway bridges have a fair degree of heft to them. Captured wonderfully here. D
  20. By changing Physicist for Railway Modeller you get your approach to your layout, I think. David (fellow believer in the scientific method but from a viewpoint of chemistry)
  21. Glorious shot of Copernicus, Jeff. Regarding it’s age - Is the lack of impact sites within the main crater a clue? Sorry but you piqued by inner geek.
  22. I have always felt that you learn best from your mistakes. if nobody points out, politely, that this or that is not great then the assumption will be that all is well. Of course you will also get the rivet counters who are at the other end of the spectrum but I can live without them too. if I ever saw something that I knew you could do better on here I would feel empowered by your attitude demonstrated throughout the thread to mention it. On other treads I might choose to keep quiet
