  1. The tree in today’s first picture is superb. It would make a great winter specimen. Now don’t go changing the whole layout season because of my suggestion………… David
  2. The loss of the photo archive was a big disappointment but your “greatest hits” have been enjoyable and serves to show the quantity and quality of work you’ve got through in a relatively short time. many thanks David
  3. Superb upgrade to the walling there, Jeff. I’ve been catching up post Glasgow and haven’t been helped by the current state of the site. Winslow Boy has certainly thrown down the gauntlet regarding the barbed wire. I look forward to seeing scratchbuilt true scale barbed wire making an appearance.
  4. You’re welcome, Jason As an exhibitor it is amazing what you miss at a show. Your videos are a great way to catch up. keep up the good work David and all at Clyde MRC
  5. This video clip comes from DCC125. As I’ve said on another thread I have no idea who he/she is but I always enjoy their videos from all the major UK shows. So thank you, whoever you are! .we’re flattered to act as warm up for the fabulous Arun Quay too
  6. So that’s what a model railway exhibition feels like! I’d almost forgotten how sore your feet get after only one day. I never cease to be amazed at the number and variety of gremlins that can appear during a 30 mile Van trip. The layout was not on it’s best behaviour in the first hour or so but gradually settled down nicely. Some shots from today
  7. WWW is now safely in position at stand C8 ready to run for the weekend.
  8. We will be on stand C8 this weekend. Be there or be somewhere else!
  9. Backscenes! Second only to loco colours on my list of bettes noire. I hadn’t really noticed the one on the diorama so in my mind that makes it a success. Since you’re going to experiment can I suggest investing in some tester pots. Three (not 50!) shades of grey. Cover the test area in the mid shade, allow to dry. With a small piece of sponge or rag dab patches of the other two shades over the surface. Hopefully you end up with a typical British sky!
  10. I hesitated to, temporarily, hijack your thread but the treemendous madness was worth it.
  11. Glasgow 2020 was just about the last major exhibition before Lockdown 1. The video gives an idea of the number of trees we made. Not as many as there should be. Be aware there are things in the video not suitable for those of a nervous disposition!
  12. Not popped in for some time Jeff, busy getting ready for the SEC at the end of the month and making slow progress on my own plank. I really like the trees! I sickened myself making trees for the club’s last layout which has loads made from different materials. Was it deliberate to “borrow the landscape” as gardeners have it in the last photo you posted yesterday? If so, it works brilliantly.
  13. Well it’s all go for the SEC! The layout is ready and so are we (I think!) Works shunter Abigail has been spotted in the yard. A repainted Hornby Hunslet with added lead lined concrete blocks for ballast. A cute little loco but nowhere near as cute as her namesake! (that last bit was a burst of grandfatherly pride) Only two weeks to go, hope to see lots of RMWebbers that weekend
  14. Just arrived in Motherwell still in poly bag!
  15. You turn your back for a few days to start work on your own shunting plank and get some work in on the club layout before the Glasgow show and when you pop back another mini masterpiece has materialised! As mentioned above your last picture is very convincing.
  16. The Scottish government’s latest statements seem to suggest that the show will go on. Meanwhile our preparations are going well with only a few niggles to be addressed. Hope to see you in Glasgow next month. D
  17. And now some more photos including a nightimeone.
  18. As promised a track plan. The line marking the limit of the fiddleyard is not very clear but the two long and one short tracks at the bottom are the fiddle yard accessed via the sector plate on the left. Hope this makes sense!
  19. Assuming the SEC gig gets the all clear I’ll post stand No.etc ASAP. Meantime a couple of mobile phone shots from last night…..
  20. Thanks for the tip about Steele’s I’ll have a look.
  21. I had always admired the groundwork under the viaduct, but now that I see what you’ve done in the cutting it does seem a bit “undernourished”. Nothing that can’t be easily remedied eh Jeff Enjoy…..
  22. Twosday is also palindrome day 22/02/2022
  23. Great photos, Jeff. Gold medal to No.3! The vegetation + reverse curve wins it D
  24. Sometimes you’ve just got to walk away and take break or do something different. I speak from bitter experience. I kept working away on a building I knew was getting away from me. In the end I had to break it over my knee to make me stop and revisit square one. D
