I think I'll go with 2834. Lines up nicely with justifying Talavera. Reminds me, I need to renumber my 812. I plan to renumber it to be 'Donald' in about '32.

I'll give a block a try. What material do you use? My thoughts are plasticard.

A nice variety of interests!
I like the "E machine", as we say in Denmark. That's the Märklin version, I think?
Trix, but yes, the same tooling. I don't need any of that silly third rail.
Also, an addendum, I think I had my Dean Goods on the T-Trak in that shot, not the 5600.

Sorry to display my ignorance, but where/when was this show?
This show was at Lyons Township High School in LaGrange, IL, the third weekend of March.

Thanks, @Wheatley. I'll have to look into finding a stock of the Bachman bogies. Problem I have here, stateside, is I get slapped with some serious shipping. Occasionally takes me out of competition on otherwise good pricing.
Good to know I have at least three items out of this that will be functional. Bogie swaps are a lot more manageable right now than whole kits. Somehow 20+ years of 'static' kit building leaves me when I touch rolling stock.

Thought you were talking about a model there at first! You'll be in need of some soothing uncomplicated modelling sessions then
Haven't bought the model yet. I lucked out, there's a kit that really only needs a scratchbuilt grill to be correct.

They do, and contribute somewhat to my distaste for the kit. Looking at pictures, there is similar detail on the real thing, but this kit is greatly exaggerated.

Would you say that your 5:1 mix of 70.850 & black is more appropriate to the pre-grouping era? Would it have changed much by the 1930s?

Joys of modern injection-molded plastic. Yes, they are about 1/56, though figures for the sake of being figures don't always hold to scale.

Marklin do, too. At least two such are present in my local club.

There'll be more up tonight.

I'd imagine so. Comes down to when did Hornby start including 8-pin sockets.

@Mikkel I've not really tried, yet. Not really a high priority project. I just really didn't feel like painting, so I had pulled out this one to build something.

@Mikkel These are the same scooters I was working on before. 1/24 scale.

@Gordon A Iron is a 40w iron. The solder I was using melts at 188 C. I also have 183 C and 217 C solder.
@PenrithBeacon I will try the tacking method.
-
Last two questions I can't answer. I don't remember the wattage off of the top of my head. Solder I've found here stateside isn't sold by temp - only by composition. I was trying with 60/40 rosin core. I have some that is high silver, some I think is high tin, and some of what my plumber friend called 50/50. By some, I mean a one pound reel.
-
I've got a variable stick set at about 350 C. Flux is Radio Shack rosin flux paste. I don't know if flux can go 'off,' but I've had luck with smaller jobs with the flux. I'll try at 400-450 next time I pick up the iron.
Stupid question, though. Will the iron need to sit a bit between joints?

When I bought the engine, it had an open-armature two-pole motor with a worm, but no spur for the axle. The motor-mount was collared very close to the axle, so I could never suss out what gear I needed.

Good grief, that looks like quite an exercise. The vehicle is great though, a real beast.
Theses are thankfully not nearly as bad as Sherman tracks. If I'm careful, I should be able to leave these workable once assembled.

@Mikkel If you sign up to twitch, then subscribe to my channel, twitch will send a notification when I go live. I think it would be the wee hours of the morning for you, though.

I said gold, not dreamsicle!

1/24. The common Auto scale.

I can most assuredly guarantee you I would not have. Piles of other kits confirm this.

As promised, more. I dropped $300 on three used Imperial Knights. That is actually a savings of $170(before tax) over buying them new. Wow.
I've already performed repairs where needed. I simply forgot to photograph such things. Such is life. These are low priority, though. I need to find someplace to stash them. Like everything else.

"Lead" casting has advanced a lot, even in my lifetime. The Spaniards seem to have a knack for it, too. The best I've seen all are from Iberian companies.

IIRC Rev. Awdry listed one of their numbers, but not both. One or the other may have been real!
