  1. Music To Watch Girls By - Bob Crewe Generation
  2. I'll hazard a guess at "To Carry 20 Tons", with the Tare at the RH end. Atkins, Beard & Tourret's "Big Book of All Wagons & That" has a photo of 37040 in WD livery (plate 268, p 223) that reads "To Carry 20 Tons. Tare 10-10" at the right hand end.
  3. A Fool For Your Stockings - ZZ Top
  4. Country Mile -Rory Gallagher
  5. Sorry, it's shorthand for J.H. Russell GW Coaches Appendix Vol. 2. (OPC) I've mis-typed that; my source was actually RCA Vol 1 which covers Diags. A to E - Firsts, Thirds, Brake Thirds & Composites (including Brake Compos). Couldn't really decide exactly where the handrails were on a C.46 owing to the angle of the photo, but plenty of other diagrams that show the feature. RCA 2 covers Slips, Posh Saloons, Diners, Newspaper Vans, TPOs & a good smattering of others, including NPCCS/'Brown' Vehicles.
  6. A quick trawl through RCA 2 suggests that they span the two roof hoops either side of the destination board brackets - so two (maybe four - two pairs) per roof.
  7. No it isn't, it's of a Dean vehicle. There's an outward-facing flange on the top & a reinforcing 'bulb' on the bottom. If you look at the pipe from the gauge you'll see that it closely follows the curve of the bulb before disappearing from view. If there was a flange there the pipe would have to bend outwards by around 3-1/2". @corneliuslundie The gauge face is around 3.5" diameter - say 4" overall allowing for the casing. I've had a hunt through the sprues & castings for the 7mm V.5 & T.34 4-wheelers and there's no sign of anything gauge-like, so it looks as though Slater's overlooked them. Pete S.
  8. It is a bit on the thin side, & the "G" is wrong too. The presence of an "&" and "S" however...
  9. If you have access to a K & S Metals stockist, you could easily make a bespoke hole punch. The vertical dimension is 5" for the vast majority of GW coaches, so in 4mm that equates to 1.67mm, and in 7mm 2.91mm Nearest K & S tube to those are: 8125 = 1/16" OD 9821 = 3mm OD To make the mouldings, put a bevel on the inside of the tube & punch out two holes in 5 thou plastikard then connect them with a couple of scalpel cuts. Expect a lot of scrap mouldings Pete S.
  10. Pretty sure that the left hand shop was a fairly notorious after hours drinking hole called "Scribbles" during the late 1980s & into the 1990s - No 731 OKR according to Google.
  11. The Jet station is now a BP & it's further down the OKR, opposite what was Toys 'R' Us and Asylum Road. https://www.google.com/maps/@51.4806502,-0.0595177,3a,75y,87.1h,80.59t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1sW61iYWyljEAb5hk3EiFn0w!2e0!5s20080701T000000!7i13312!8i6656?hl=en-US Managed to snaffle this frame from some 70s footage on YouTube: There's a blurry sign just to the left of the tree... Texaco?
  12. That's CrowsSprig & OctoFoot again. It's unlikely that a 1937 pattern cloth would still be in use by 1963, let alone be fitted to a vehicle built new in 1951. If you went for a red oxide with perhaps a touch more red, I don't think you'd be far out. See also: — And, from a mere five years ago in this very thread:— We've done this before, haven't we? P.
  13. First photo has replica late-1930s GWR "Fan" pattern cloth on the bench seats (as used in A.30 No. 190 at Didcot) and something that approximates BR "Crowsfoot" (or "Sprig & Octopus") on the 2+2 seats. Second photo is too dark as is, but some cruel treatment in Photoshop suggests that it's the same arrangement as photo 1 - mislabelled? Pete S.
  14. Yes it does... the 'G' is just behind the first column of rivets. The transfers don't always show up under certain lighting conditions: https://warwickshirerailways.com/gwr/gwrt332.htm

  19. Bob Holness played the saxophone intro on Gerry Rafferty's 'Baker Street'.
  20. SD could sing a bit too: RIP Spencer.
