Yes, you are right. Especially as I have all the birch ply waiting.

Not much modelling done so far this year, but I did get my Cerestar hopper to an almost finished state before Christmas. I still need to make the end ladders, and paint the solebar black and a add few other details. This started life as an EFE clay tiger, and two Accurascale PCAs.

37 373 'Lightning' works its way through Farkham with a steel train. (Video uploaded to my facebook page). DCC wiring is coming along now. Three scenic boards finished now.
-
The first two scenic boards have now been rewired for DCC, and the tortoise motors are now controlled via the Lenz handheld/LS150. The third board is now in place and ready for a clean, before rewiring resumes. Some bits have come loose in the house move, but nothing that can't be glued back in place.

Could a future class 153 be a worthy venture for you? The Hornby one is both dated and has inaccuracies.
-
The first two boards are now operational under dcc control via a Lenz Set100. The first board has four tortoise motors which are now controlled via an LS150. The diodes convert the AC to DC, which is required to run the tortoise motors.

James Makin's Workbench - 1990s dirty diesels & grotty wagons

Those look superb James! 👌 -
I'd take a regi rail 153 in 4mm. I have a Hornby one, but it's never been out of the box because it's just a bit naff.

The layout has been stored since March, while we moved house. Board one has now been cleaned of cobwebs, and some minor damage has been noted. Work will now start on rewiring the layout for DCC control.

We have moved house now, but model railways has taken a back seat while we do some renovation work. However, some driver training has started and I suspect a 'trainset' will be constructed in readiness for Christmas.

Class 37, by Accurascale

As I had to buy the non sound version and retro fit too, could you explain or show a photo of how the speaker is secured on the sound fitted version? -
Are they all going to arrive at the same time? Or will they arrive in batches?

I think we can make it work. At least, that is the plan still. I recon a double track down one side will give enough space to move around, and will allow trains to work through sections as they approach the scenic part.
