Will say to follow, friend was able to get in contact with him and Dan, thankfully, was able to piece me together a 4mm Wisbech kit, which was sent off to another friend who's stockpiling stuff to ship to me eventually lol.

There's a fair few resin printed kit and part sellers around now, Should in theory be able to find one that's available. I'll talk to a few friends who are in the line of 3D modeling and printing kits and parts about it. I do know that Shapeways is...really not great, price, quality, etc went down the drain a while ago.

Small update, Bachmann US have confirmed they'll be addressing the issues with the red and green liveries in particular after a fair amount of feedback.

Mmm, suppose I'll have to inquire to a few UK friends again, if he isnt big on phone calls based on what, well, didnt happen last year.

Has there been anything in regards to contacting D&S in the last year or so? A number of people, myself included, are curious if he has anything in regards to his 4mm W&U Tram coach kits still. A friend called him up a year ago and i believe he was told that he'd be contacted again in a couple weeks and be informed if they could find anything but nothing ever came from that.

Got my Britomart in Friday. Given it's a Christmas present, figured it would be wise to inspect it and give it a test just in case. Sadly, Noticed a glue stain on the tank, the funnel was loose and not seated fully in the base so sat at a noticeable angle and with a noticeable gap between the base and funnel. And the left hand cylinder was glued slightly wonky, so it pointed inward and this then brought the crosshead awfully close to the crankpin. Running was a bit lumpy and there was definitely a sort of rubbing-friction noise that while not horrible, was, again, noticeable. I mean as far as quality control slips, it could be far far worse lol. But I have decided to return the model and ship it back for a replacement Britomart, as I do still want the engine. In spite of the example I got, I still think it is a lovely little model and I'm looking forward to my replacement one, even if I probably won't get it in time for Christmas at this rate.

You'd be surprised given it's Bach US doing this lol, so there's still a decent chance of those changes. Let me have hope :P

I mean, the thing is Skarloey is a solid 90% accurate to Talyllyn anyway? I'm hoping they at minimum replace the cylinders and crosshead etc parts with new tooled components and that it has proper handrails.

That's cause, again, it's Bachmann US ;). So they just said it in a way that US modelers will understand. At the absolute bare minimum, and I am hoping they go at least a little beyond the bare minimum, this will be a recolored Skarloey or at least it'll be a modified Skarloey tooling using the base Skar as a strong base. Either way, Skarloey is scaled 009, as with the rest of the NG range and indeed the entire main "HO" range all being actually scaled OO.

1:76, they just copied the Bachmann US description, which mentions both HO and OO as the vast majority of US modelers have no idea what OO is, let alone that it shares the same gauge(s) as HO and 009.

Oh I tried everything, literally everything. 99% isoporpyl, acetone, un-cure, freezing, freezing and then one of the previously mentioned methods.

Fair few people have also been modifying the Chivers/Five79 ET kit to fit the chassis as well.

Looking for people's thoughts on what their preferred liquid mask to use on glazing for dmus, emus and coach bodies in general to protect them during priming and painting? Personally I got both mr hobby mask sol R and Vallejo liquid mask, but wanted to see what other people's thoughts and choices are first. Have to use either one on a Hornby (ex-Lima) Class 101 I'm repainting as Hornby used a super glue that is nigh-indestructible, given my testing to soften or dissolve it, on the one i picked up for this project.

Out of curiosity, any other spray paint recommendations? Mr Hobby etc? I figure halfords probably has a good one but sadly can't get that lol.

It does a bit yeah, I don't really even need to match early dmu green, don't know why i said early, as what I'm modeling was built 1960-ish and even then its not a deal breaker, but I think I meant the more lighter BR greens seen on the Bachmann and Graham farish class 101 models. Which is why I'm considering TS-43 over TS-9, as TS-9 looks to be quite dark, but i may pick up both and test them out on a scrap coach body. Much thanks

I'm repainting a Hornby 101 DMU, and I'm looking for a suitable spray paint color that's available in the US to match BR DMU green/Brunswick. I've taken a look at Tamiya, and I was wondering if anyone knows how close TS-9 British racing green and/or TS-43 Racing green is/are to the aforementioned BR green(s)?

Hi, I need to remove the glazing from the bodies of my Hornby 101, and I don't know what glue they used, but they used A LOT and I just can't get them off without breaking or cracking the glazing, and i don't just mean at the joins. I've tried 99% isopropyl, hot soapy water, even acetone to a degree, but nothing's worked? Anyone have any suggestions or know how to break down or soften what ever glue they used? Cause I really dont want to have to mask every single window and then deal with any potential clean up if paint leaks onto them

It is rather well built, but still, would rather like to have all the paper work that's missing anyway lol. Especially given she almost certainly needs to have her chassis taken apart and rebuilt with a more modern drivetrain, the bulldog she has now is...well it's showing its age, and given the gearing is ridiculously low, might as well put in a new gearbox anyway.

Out of curiosity, any progress in this regard?

Hello Ian, I've recently acquired an ABS V4 as well, though fully built. Could you send me a copy (or even just pictures of) the instructions and paperwork for the kit? And how have you got on with building it, if you have been able to that is?

I've recently acquired a fairly well built and beautifully painted ABS models class V4 kit, but I think I may need to update it's drivetrain. Don't know if it's a matter of a motor swap, swapping in a coarser gear(cause it runs VERY slow), or just a new gearbox and motor. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has a copy of the instructions and paperwork that came with the kit? Don't need them physically, but if anyone has a copy scanned or even just pictures of the pages? I'm also looking to find out a bit more info on them, like when and how long they were produced? Near as I can tell they were made briefly in the 70s? And if any one knows if the toolings etc were still with ABS? At least until his passing a couple years ago.
