  1. I put in an address change to 7810 with further changes to CV,s 2--6 and had a similar result. I therefore changed back to factory settings and very good performance resumed. Next step just change the address to from 03 to 7810???
  2. Have just listened to the Hornby mag. sound file project and on this the pump sound is plainly evident. Do I need to adjust something? --it is on factory setting
  3. Does anyone know if the sound file includes the very audible air pump "slap sound" when the loco is in drifting/coasting mode? I have not been able to find this.
  4. The data I have is-- CV1---003 2------ 003 3------035 4------031 5------255 6------088 Not sure about chuff values 3------
  5. Having time on my hands I decided to really check out the crawl ability of my DCC sound fitted 7810. Using my normal Prodigy advance 2 set up I checked the loco performance over a 21.5 feet siding (incorporating 7 electrofrog points).I am still on factory settings for the decoder and operating on 14 speed steps on throttle setting 1. The loco took 24 minutes and 40 seconds to complete the course minus any stuttering or stalling. I do not have any other loco to compete with that. I believe that translates to a 1: 76.2 speed of 0.75 mph. I am what you might call a very happy and satisfied customer. I hope my arithmetic is correct!!
  6. Finally I received my ACS 7810 with sound and I am delighted with its looks and performance. It is indeed an exquisitely designed and assembled model. It crawls well, it smoothly accelerates and decelerates. The model was received with NO loose bits and all extras were present. Well done ACS and I am sure you will have learned from the experience--Thank you. I would also like to comment on my chosen retailer,s input on this purchase--the QC check card signed by the proprietor--the thank you provided for customer patience--voucher against future purchase and maybe more important two small biscuit packs. To me this graphically shows Derails view of the customer .Well done Derails for this and your want to keep customers informed. I look forward to doing more business with you both. Ed Plant
  7. Questions I do not have the answers for-- Who QC checks purchases via a retailer--Does ACS apply this for all or does the retailer? What is covered in any UK applied QC check or is this reliably carried out in China? Thinking here of the tricky unboxing routine ,repacking and delicate detail issues. Finally with respect to my outstanding order for 7810--are indirect orders forwarded to retailers at the same time as direct orders?
  8. Waiting patiently is one thing; customers not being kept informed with long pregnant pauses is quite another. I am sure my retailer knows no more than their customers- so there is no need to hassle in that direction. Accurascale please update even if there is more bad news. Ed P
  9. Agree with S.R U CLASS idea--50 strong--never done before. On numbers built alone, it must warrant serious thought.
  10. Thank you for that --reassuring as I await my Draycott Manor order. Can you comment on the air pump sound?
  11. Reference the manor running on speed step 2 video by McC --is that the factory fitted arrangement--if so sounds very good . I ask because the following inputs talk about a bigger speaker replacement. Also the only video I have seen/listened to that identifies the characteristic air pump "slap" when coasting is the Hornby mag/Key publishing video??
  12. Apologies for my cock up on the mushrooms--I stand very definitely corrected. However I do not understand the reversed image because the 2 pics show the smokebox facing different ways? Maybe my age/reasoning is letting me down?
  13. Now in overdrive!--The pics of 7805 taken on both sides show air pumps and reversing gear on both sides--Have never seen this before? Am I reading this correctly?
  14. Reading the many and various comments on the AS Manor my mind turns to the out of fashion phrase-- Common Sense-- -Quite apart from the many direct and indirect customers eagerly awaiting their model (and presumably paid for) --if periodic updates are not forthcoming a vacuum will result which in itself invites repeated questions as to when. Customers unlike mushrooms are best not kept in the dark. AFAIK the last update has been well exceeded. For me the update is as important as the actual delivery date. I too eagerly anticipate delivery. -I have no doubt this model exceeds all that have gone before it. However when trying to design, manufacture and assemble such a high fidelity and complex model in high volume there will be some failures. AS have clearly stated there position of offering positive help to those genuinely affected Raising the "fidelity bar" in itself must place greater demands on design, manufacture and assembly Not criticism--maybe common sense? REGARDS, Ed Plant
  15. Very happy to answer my own query reference the slap sound of the air pump--watched and listened to the Hornby mag .video and it is clearly there on the menu.
  16. I do not have to go back to my trainspotting days on Wolves Low Level in the mid 50,s to recall the Manor sound accompanied by the very distinctive bark as it got the train moving. In the late 80,s I watched and heard a Manor set off from Porthmadog and this refreshed my memory. Delight ,nostalgia and emotion flooded back. Also having heard the sound reproduction quality on the various reviews I find these very acceptable and realistic. As for adhesive weight and pulling power these same reviews show the loco easily hauling 4/5 coaches up 1 in 53 inclines via 30 inch radius curves--I doubt whether the real Manor would cope with that. If however you operate on analogue and want more weight in the tender remove the electronic gadgetry and-----. There are many variations of Manor class locos available and because we all have our own preferences you can choose from a wide range of options I eagerly await my order and I can maybe add more afterwards. I do think that the beautifully detailed model will require minimal/careful handling and being of an age where my dexterity and sight are not as they used to be , I foresee a growing need to find the expertise to maintain my loco. This is not that well catered for as things stand?? Will there be help in this direction? Finally on the sound reviews I do not recall hearing the characteristic air pump slap--is this on the menu? Ed 80 P
  17. It is surely surprising that the S R U class has yet to surface--no RTR as far as I know and 50 locos strong?
  18. Accurascale stated earlier 7810 was going into the second shipment --My supplier has indicated that this shipment will be with AS late next week. I would guess that I will receive my manor the week after. Hope this offers reassurance . regards Ed P
  19. Not being sure of the answer I googled the question--were Kings ever allowed north of Wolves and the answer given was yes--but only from April 1959--hence me seeing the loco change for a Manor at Wolves earlier in the 50,s. Were Kings more regularly used on the CCE than Castles prior to 1959?--and was Shrewsbury not a scheduled stop for passengers? Either way it shows that Manors did work on this train joining at Wolves or Shrewsbury so plenty of reasons for using the model headboard.. Most interesting and thanks for your reply Ian
  20. I think the Cambrian Coast loco change at Wolverhampton meant that a bigger loco like a King/Castle that had brought the train up from Paddington was taken off and replaced with a Manor because of axle loading /weight restrictions beyond . I remember seeing this at Low Level ,Wolves in the mid 50,s.
  21. As much as Accutrascale and its customers are disappointed with this news--well done for choosing to keep your customers updated--as you rightly point out the quality issue far outweighs a week or so late. I think it used to be called "managing customer expectations" regards, Ed P
  22. Ho folks--enlisted help to post pics of my imitation of the Bom yard coal crane. Thanks for your help. regards, Ed
