  1. Totally agree--they were planned /promoted as a set yet become available in dribs and drabs--frustrating for the customer and double postage. regards,Ed However very pleased with what I have so far--2 x BSK.
  2. Phil---thank you for your comprehensive response--much appreciated. Ed
  3. Robert/ RFS ---Your postscript ref. removal of corridor end covers is obviously relevant--I did not appreciate that they could be removed (easily). From early attempts to remove the board it appears as though the corridor connector wants to leave as one with it.I have done as you have done and temporarily inserted a Maunsell CK between the 2 Bulleid BTK,s. I have found that the Maunsell fits in with Roco short couplings at both ends--and with end boards still in place. This too shows very little daylight between the corridor connectors. I,ll look further into this with all Maunsell coach rakes-the key objectives being close coupling and ability to take the layout curves. regards and thank you for your 2 pennoth, Ed
  4. Big James --you will not be disappointed my friend --I picked my two BTK,s up from Rails today--excellent models.I await the Composite coach due by Sept. latest? I am going to run my set 968 + PBV on stopping trains --Soton /Bournemouth /Weymouth, Bournemouth --Salisbury and Bournemouth West to Bath. Well done Hornby. I have fitted the shorter Roco style close couplers (40271) and these seem to be ok on my minimum 3 feet rad. curves-- strangely I had to use Roco and pair with the longer Hornby version on Maunsell coach couplings. regards, Ed
  5. Thank you for the update--do you know if the delivery includes all coaches reqd. to make up the 4 sets? Good news indeed for me.
  6. Very intriguing--Hornby advertise it as being in stock at £169,99--I thought I had a bargain when I received my early placed order at Rails for £129.99--now there for £109 !! It seems very strange that a newly designed model has been so heavily discounted so soon after release. Certainly somebody is not realising the return on their investment--It does not look like good business however attractive the model is for me. regards, Ed
  7. I have short coach set 968 0n order and should arrive fairly soon. This is important to me because as yet I do not have a single bulleid coach on my BRSR layout. Is there anybody else out there who is equally eager to see the 64 feet versions progressing to a conclusion. Given the total lack of update from Bachmann I would not mind putting an upfront deposit on such models providing there is a realistic delivery time and of current quality/detail spec. The Bournemouth 6 car dining sets would be ideal for me. Are there many others with this real interest? regards, Ed ps --this is not part of an ongoing criticism of Bachmann--just reflecting models I would really appreciate.
  8. I always find it very interesting to read the write ups in the model rail mags and find the content helpful when considering a purchase. However on more than one occasion I have seen misleading information--the one I have in mind right now relates to the write up of the Brighton Atlantic 32424 in a mag.(minus title). It highlighted that the model came with 5 pole motor and sprung buffers---neither of which were apparent on purchase. I admit to being disappointed and not best pleased. This needs to be accurately reported for the readership. On another positive note I do like my purchase and it serves to haul the daily Brighton/ Bournemouth train. regards, Ed
  9. I too think that the award is richly deserved--it is railway modelling at its very best, providing both enjoyment and inspiration to all who go to see it. Very well done. I went to view it again at Peterborough and will no doubt be seeing it in the not too distant future Will you please let me know where you will be exhibiting B.W. this year. best regards, Ed Plant
  10. Joseph, I do hope you are right--The Bournemouth 6 car dining rakes would be most useful for me and hopefully others. regards, Ed
  11. It would appear that managing customer expectations and keeping their customer base informed is very low on their priority list. I am just a customer complete with old fashioned standards ,not sniping for the sake of it. I have 5 such coaches on order with this supplier and I expect to be treated as a customer--forget any idea that I should be grateful that they are doing this or that they have manufacturing capacity issues. I find it almost insulting to communicate 2019 releases minus any update on outstanding items. Ed Plant
  12. I agree----why announce new items for the year present and not update last year.s outstanding items. Managing customer expectations comes to mind and dare I say, treating customers as is needed. I am particularly interested in their proposed new bulleid coaches--why is there no update? Yes I am aware of manufacturing capacity issues in the Far East. regards,Ed Plant
  13. Cour Courtesy of SEMGONLINE I can see these make up into sets. set 965--5711/2845/2846 set 973--5719/2861/2862 set 968--5714/2851/2852 set 972--5718/2859/2860 Formed 1946 and lasted well into the 60,s. Listed as Waterloo-Wof E Does this mean they were on the ACE and such trains only or could they be used on the Bournemouth line? regards, Ed
  14. Yes indeed a marked improvement--well done Bachmann

I had such a problem with my 53806---it was a very good runner for at least 2 years and then the rear driving wheels developed a marked wobble. Remedy --returned to Bachmann service and they repaired it promptly and quite cheaply. It again runs very well. I was very impressed with Bachmann.s service. regards, Ed
  16. Gentlemen, Is anybody able to tell me which of the 2 Br models (Bordesley Junc.or Wolverhampton ) is best suited for a 1955--58 layout? Thanks, Ed
  17. Graham----will the open third follow in due course and will that make a better match with the new Hornby Maunsell Kitchen restaurant ? regards,Ed
  18. From further reading it would appear ok to add the new Hornby Maunsell kitchen /diner first in BR green livery + the new Hornby Maunsell open third in cr. and cream to the Bachmann set 847 (in cr. and cream). The new Hornby pair were used as loose coaches and may well have formed a not improbable rake. I know the odd green coach might attract the eye but???. I am trying to form a realistic Lon W. to Bournemouth train circa 1954-7 but with dining facilities--the Bomo 6 car dining sets being outside my creativity. Ed
  19. Thank you for your very useful information Graham. Question---will the open third follow in due course--it is mentioned but not defined. Also is it realistic to add the forthcoming Hornby kitchen diner first to set 847 to make for a Lon W. --Bournemouth rake? (in the absence of a Bournemouth dining set) best regards, Ed
  20. Hi Roger, Will the B.W. layout definitely be at BRM, Peterborough ? It is not listed hence my query. Ed

    Unifrog?

Hi I spoke to the Peco stand person at Swindon rail museum on Saturday last and he told me within 3 weeks. S.P. yet to be determined regards, Ed
  22. Yes a truly magnificent layout with patient staff freely available to field the questions. Well done to all involved and I look forward to further views. ps--a bit late getting there --rerouted trains from Cheltenham to Newport via Gloucester and then connection to Bristol T.M.and finally onward to Swindon--an adventure and well worth the effort!!! Thank you to all involved with the B.W layout best regards, Ed
