  1. Nice pics of the Hawksworths and the B vans on now.
  2. Have we considered wagons on this thread? I know Dave is concentrating on locos at first but there are 2 wagons which I think would be popular in N:-- the PGA 4-wheel stone hopper (the Farish one badly needs updating) and the JYA bogie tippler, which is available in kit form from TPM, but without NEM pockets. As the latter wagon was used on iron-ore and stone traffic, there would be several livery options; plenty of liveries too for the PGA.. Both types have run behind 59s and 66s plus the PGA has been hauled by Westerns, 47s,37s and 33s. Pretty relevant to current requirements I'd say.
  3. Hasn't the factory weathering improved? I've always gone for pristine versions before but may be tempted by dirty ones in future!
  4. Do you have any definite evidence of RUs in choc/cream? If so, I suggest you send to Bachmann.

    Ask Dave

Hi Dave As some retailers are already showing prices for your models, will you soon be doing the same for items you supply direct? I've already 'expressed an interest' on your site.
  7. Yes the buffer stop is still there. Some interesting shots here--thanks guys.

    Dapol HST

Just sprayed the roofs of my ''extra'' blue/grey coaches to match those in the set; Humbrol satin black 85 gives a close enough finish. The roofs come off easily with the aid of a fingernail and are easily put back to fit perfectly. Take time to admire the interiors, especially the buffet car.
  9. Hi Steven or any 56 experts out there, Can you confirm whether 56006 (Dapol's first Romanian 56) is correctly liveried? I'm hoping to use this as a pattern to correct my 56070. Side-on views seem to be rare. TIA.
  10. Are you brave enough to do a 28 in N?
  11. Good morning Padishar; I hope you had a good Christmas. I'd like to order some of the short NEM couplings from Werner but I'm not sure of the code; I've found SP9 but not 0608 as shown in your photo. Can you clarify for me please. Regards, John.

  14. I'm sure Dave wouldn't have allowed any really unacceptable details to go through on the Doncaster version--he's a modeller too. I think most people will be satisfied with it. In my view we're jolly lucky to have the choice of both versions. Can't wait for the blue one!
  15. So have I. Wonder what the 'branding' will be; hopefully not just 'Buffet' like the old Farish ones. I always thought 'Buffet Bar 125' had a certain 'je ne sais quoi' about it!
  16. Hi Alan, I've failed at the first hurdle with lubricating my A3; I can't shift the keeper-plate screw; my smallest cross-head screwdriver is a 0-2; I've applied some oil round the screw to hopefully loosen it. Does your Dapol Pacific knowledge enable you to help me please? Regards, John.

  17. Do mark 3s have a noticeable tint? Surely it's nothing like that on the air-conditioned mark 2s which is definitely worth modelling.
  18. My most vivid memory is standing on the platform at KX with Deltics either side of me waiting to take out the 1205 and 1220. Deltics in stereo--wonderful!
  19. I can't understand why '' electrics don't sell''. I've got an 86 and a 4CEP and have installed just token Dapol ohle in some places on my layout and have no intention of fitting third rail. The 92 is out of my era but I'd buy it if it was pre-1982. The 86 looks great with the Faiveley panto raised hauling a long freightliner.
  20. Some expert advice from Class 86 experts would be appreciated; which of the 2 Dapol 'scale' pantographs should I fit to my blue CM Models 86204? There are no instructions in the pack. TIA.

    class 33

Where in Teesside did they work to Les? My sources say they worked to York but occasionally further. I wonder if any pairs got all the way to Uddingston! Now there's an idea for Dave and Co--the notorious Lambton Worm cement wagons!
  22. Wasn't there an issue with balance weights on the driving wheels some while back? Shouldn't the rebuilds have them?
  23. Top stuff Colin.Look forward to seeing it in the flesh (and the layout!)
  24. My weathered blue 20 arrived from Hattons today--first impression of the weathering is pleasingly subtle (thought I'd have to get the airbrush out to make it acceptable!). Well done Bachmann!
  25. Are you referring to the current 47 or the previous Poole original?
