  1. Morning Pete, You've confused the club discussion on Finchley Roads weighbridge with this one, Bern had the drawing for B'wade which I've sent. see you in Feb Chris...................Dave.....Chris............Dave..
  2. I knew there be someone out the who would have something. How about this. Its a drawing from MRC inc some dimensions, I have a higher res version but too big to post here so can email it if you PM me. The pic is courtesy of Bern Munday, our one time (well 34 years) chairman of EBMRS who after sniffing Mek Pak for several years while constructing the buildings for Finchley Road has regressed into ....we're not quite sure?
  3. The reason we use Magnolia in New builds is because it is bland and inoffensive, it then will show off any furniture or pictures the owner has which are their own taste. I have been in houses where they have painted rooms Black and others Luminous Lime Green, neither are to be recommended.
  4. I didn't take any measurements, I was only 14 at the time and I had a feeling that all would be swept away so just wandered about taking some pics. The Station and yard were all built at the same time (1851/2) and of the same brick, like most it gained a layer of grime in quite a short time. but in the mid 1980's it was cleaned by acid wash and water back to it's pale yellow colour. This is how it looks today. IIRC Biggleswade was a slightly later building as the whole station was rebuilt from platform level to its present position on the bank, it uses a slightly different brick and again was cleaned in the mid 80's.
  5. I have seen solenoid motors used with handbuilt turnouts where there is an Omega (?) loop fitted, but this only really works where the motor is fitted to one side or some distance from the turnout.
  6. Here is Sandy's weighbridge building, scans were by a previous naff machine but show enough detail. Biggleswades was a later building and built to a different design, Sandy is original GN with bricks being used 'sparingly'.
  7. Ken Page has a pic on his page (scroll down) http://www.biggleswadehistory.org.uk/Roads/station_road.htm
  8. I don't have anything but I'll ask around the club. I do have Sandy's from all sides taken in 1977 but B'wades was bigger IIRC
  9. I never claimed to be an expert but I posed the question as my experience of BH turnouts is that they are not as robust as FB and it's not recommended to use solenoid motors. The unsolved mystery for me is why some have to criticise others for having a discussion.
  10. Assuming that the current solenoid motors are too powerful for the proposed BH turnouts, wouldn't having to do as you suggest be at odds with the assumption that the turnouts are 'ready to lay' the same as the current range. Also there are quite a few in the hobby who are either not comfortable with or don't understand electrics. It could be that the new BH range is robust enough to cope. My own experience is of handbuilt turnouts which have quite an element of play until fixed, as the BH rail does not have the same strength as FB.
  11. With the comment that some of the manufacture of the turnouts might be hand assembly would that possibly lead to a little "fragility" ? If so, what turnout motors would Peco expect to work with the new product as the current solenoid motors have a bit too much 'snap/crash/bang' ......didn't they start selling servo motors?
  12. Your original comment. When you get an answer that doesn't fit your question you change the location If you wanted locations specific to Kent/Sussex then you should have asked in your original comment, I then wouldn't have wasted my time replying.
  13. I've found it goes in 3 year cycles.... 3 years for track etc, so having started on the control panel expect something moving in 2020
  14. KS Models in Stevenage sell C&L flexi plus other in Stevenage. Being a decent model shop they also give discount to local club members.
  15. Spilsby, Think I've mentioned before that the station building is the same design as Sandy, even thought some time ago about an exhibition layout of Spilsby as Sandy can't go out on the road........as if a huge layout, helping out a friends 2mm layout of Little Salkeld and club layouts weren't enough..........
  16. One has sandwiches made with organic bread and the finest of ingredients, the butler does have to tell cook to cut the crusts off occasionally......
  17. Was it at this point that I towed it to the garage.......or was that the previous car
  18. As someone that lets others in I can't stand it when drivers do that. half the time they carry on up the road with either the left or right indicator on completely oblivious to their dashboard. Indicators....it's all in the name.
  19. Looking forward to seeing how you get on with the Coronation kit, I was speaking to Andrew (Wizard) at Warley about the the other GN coach kits in the range but ought to clear the bench before adding yet more. I also have the J3 as well as a J6 and a C1 in the "to do" pile but I've done enough locomotives for a while so they can wait.
  20. Thanks Ian. How did you make the moulds for the coach sides etc ? I only have a limited experience of resin casting and so just make one master to cast from.
  21. My local shop stocks C&L and I know of a few others. No offence, but are you in any way (other than a customer) linked to Peco?
  22. I guess the answer to that is that they are at present planning and building East West rail, and the business case so far has proved its worth. There is also the point that in the early 60's when BR looked at quadrupling through Sandy, the amount of traffic on the Oxford to Cambridge precluded it, only after it was closed was the ECML quadrupled. The present day up platform to London is about 4 feet forward of the old down platform on the Ox-Cam.
  23. That's higher than I thought it might be, although what it actually retails for might be very different to the RRP
  24. You'll have to excuse me but I've never seen such a thing.....well.....not in this house. We've some activity in the garden on the feeders with lots of the smaller birds stuffing themselves. Went to Welney yesterday to see the Swans, an enjoyable day out. Also saw plenty of Duck (Mallard, Pochard), Widgeon Snipe, Stonechat, Sparrowhawk and Barn Owl + other.
