  1. Hi All Thought putting this list together may be of interest. Just to compare hoe the Real Life APT-P ran in 1980, 1981 and 1983 according to the stated Books (Verses) Hornby's 2020 Available to Order... Seem, the 1980 APT-P Sets is the closest to running Prototypical 370 003 (can run in Full Prototypical) & 370 004 Yellow Ends, (Using R3873 5-Car Set) just missing the TU 48305 as a Prototypical but still out of the Full 14-Car Set, only the TU 48305 let's the side down. Come on Hornby... RELEASE the other remaining (Four) Twin Packs (Ending in 05's & 06's). AND / OR ... Release another 5-Car Set (R3873A...!?! with Black Front Ends) 370 005 (48105) & 370 006 (48106) with TBF 48605 & TBF 48606 with N-DM 49005... If Hornby Released the above... Then, the 1980 (Book) APT-P Set with 370 006 can run as a Full Prototypical and... also the 1981/83 (Book) APT-P Set with 370 005 can also run as a Full Prototypical. In the words of 'DEL BOY'... Lovely Jubbly... You know it makes sense... (haha) Regards Jamie
  2. Hi Lee Those Photos look superb, Class 56 nicely weathered Jamie
  3. That makes sense... I thought you were going to say, whoever drew smallest straw, go in to touch it first... of Rock, Paper, Scissors, or who just draw a pack of cards and whoever is the lowest goes to the line and beyond... (like Buzz Light year...lol) Jamie
  4. Yes, I bought the Hornby R543 Advanced Passenger Train Set with Black Fronted off eBay and when I questioned him before hand, he said he bought it originally with Yellow Ends from the shop back in 1982 he said, it was the Yellow Ends version and he liked most over the Black Ends version APT, and he wasn't really in to keeping the box any longer and wanted to sell it as a Full train Set, so he said I have put two Black Front End Cars in there place as he had from the Hornby R794 APT Train Pack, he liked the Yellow Ends over the Black Ends, and said I'm selling it as original box with track, Tunnel and controller, the only thing he had swapped was that he as kept his original Yellow Ends and replaced them with Black Ends, which was a bonus as it was Black Ends I was after and I had 6 full Yellow Ends, which enabled me to swap it back to it's original box condition with Yellow Ends, just as it was when the guy would have bought it back in 1982. What Hornby Price Lists say... Hornby R.543 Advanced Passenger Train Set had the Yellow Front Ends, with Track, Tunnel and Controller. Hornby R.794 Advanced Passenger Train Pack had the Black Front Ends, 5-Car Set ONLY. (Sorry for that side track.... no pun intended) lol Regards Jamie
  5. Hi stovepipe I totally agrees on that one, I prefer 370 005 & 370 006 OR 370 006 & 370 007 by choice personally in the Black Fronted variants of the APT-P, neither are available sadly, so I hope it is in the Hornby pipeline for a future release, maybe. (fingers crossed hey) 370 004 I think... when we last brushed passed this issues a few pages ago, I had a looked in all my APT-P Books I have including the Internet Photos that were visible to see the number for Yellow Ends and Black Ends Etc,. I think every number I came across (370 001 to 370 007) for the Full Yellow Ends, but in the Black Fronted variants, ONLY 370 004 was the only APT-P that I cannot find with Black Ends and as you have said, only 370 004 had the Full Yellow End, unless anyone can share a Photo of 370 004 with Black Ends, then, yes... 370 004 was only ever in Yellow Ends from what I can see to. Regards Jamie
  6. Hi Anthony I forgot to say at the end of my last post, I hope you get better soon... from licking your wounds... as you put it lol Well, I hope you are feeling much better now... mate...! Regarding the Viaduct. That's good we are looking at the right area on the MAP, its a shame that on Earth Google when you go down to street view, that there is no view of the Viaduct either, I tried several times and as its out to sea on the outer edge, you can't even look back at it, so to speak which is quite annoying lol Plus, to enable to Drone, I had wanted to see how far in MILES from my nearest airport, as I can't be with in 5 Miles of any Small Airport, (10 Miles on Bigger or Major Airports) and we have Caernarfon Airport (Over 10 Miles) and on (Isle of) Anglesey there is Mona Airport (Over 15 Miles) but I'm good on the Millage, and a lot further than I thought to, but I just needed to check that out. Regards Jamie
  7. Hi Pete the Elaner Yes I agree Pete, I just wanted to make sure I hadn't read it wrong myself... lol It's great they are doing 48204 in both Bogie Types as Prototypical... and an excellent wish for... unexpectedly. Have Hornby missed something for any particular reason, I wonder...! I don't understand why Hornby didn't release the remaining 8 Coach Running Numbers in another (Four) Twin Packs, unless this is a future announcement in Hornby 2021 Catalogue maybe.... Yay and all with the Articulated Bogie Sets just like in the other Twin Packs already announced in R40011+A, R40012+A, R40013 +A and R40014 +A. R40011B, 48205 & 48206 TS R40012B, 48405 & 48406 TRBS R40013B, 48305 & 48306 TU R40014B, 48505 & 48506 TF With a Twin Pack 370 005 & 370 006 (Black Fronted) With a Single Item Pack of 370 007 (Built as a Spare Coach) With a Single Item Pack of 49005 (Powered N-DM) With a Single Item Pack of 49006 (Dummy N-DM) With a Single Item Pack of 48607 TBF (Built as a Spare Coach) If Hornby just produced the above remaining numbers, then every coach formation along with every running number will have been produced and would enable us to run any possibility APT-P Formation... on our own layouts. Three, 14-Car Lengths and all with different Running Numbers... Would be nice to see in the future... (Hornby Take Note...) Regards Jamie
  8. Hi Hampshire Hog Excellent Layout with Brilliant Photo's, I used to follow you before then with all the changes on the RMWeb and I had a bit of a break from the RMWeb but returned with a new look and I was a bit lost as to where everything had gone lol Glad I have found this Thread... as it's a great layout and what you have on it whether that Loco's or Rolling stock on your layout all of it looks superb. Regards Jamie
  9. Hi All I have noticed that APT-P Coach Running Number 48204 must be available in two variances...!!! As any one else noticed this...? R3970 APT-U Ex-TS (48204 / 977527) which as a Twin Bogie Set at each end of the same coach. whereas the... R40011 Twin Pack as the coach running numbers as 48203 & 48204 as an Articulated Bogie set Is that Correct I wonder...(Hmmm), as I take it... that All the Hornby Twin Packs from... R40011, R40011A, R40012, R40012A, R40013, R40013A, R40014, R40014A I'm taking it that all these will have the Articulated Bogie Sets. The Scenario on your layout can be... Buy the 7-Car Set which as the APT-U Ex-TS (48204 / 977527) as standard as part of the 7-Car Train Pack, then this coach will have the Twin Bogie Sets at each end of the same coach and NOT the Articulated Bogie Sets like the normal APT-P Coaches have, but if you were to buy R40011 which as the running numbers 48203 & 48204 which will have Articulated Bogie Sets... This will enable you run the APT-P as a Test Train OR you could swap the Test Coach for the normal Twin Pack Coach Set and run the APT-P before the Coach 48204 ever got converted and run the APT-P as a Normal Service on your layout as appose to a Test Train Set up... then if you add the other coach number in the Twin Pack Set aka 48203, you could run your APT-P as a 8-Car Set, instead of a 7-Car Set. Which would be interesting to do... depending on whether you want to run your APT-P in the Earlier Years or the Later Years of it's service, thus covering a wider range of the Years that the APT-P ran. This a thought. Regards Jamie

  11. Hi sandwich station I have only ever seen the Hornby R.543 with the Yellow Front Only. Hornby Catalogues 1980/1981/1982/1983/1984/1985, these years featured the Advanced Passenger Train. Regards Jamie
  12. Hi Anthony Wow, those Arches are looking brilliant... I like the way you have made the Curved Vertical Upright Structure between the Arches, that's photo's were interesting to look at on your Step-By-Step progress on How-To's, you should write your own N-Gauge Model Book in Detail using those type of photo's. It good that Ross comes over to help you out in Modelling your layout. Interestingly, Peter was a Book Publisher and his business Partner Paul Harrison, who between them have produced a series of Wagon Books under Cheona Publications. I have most of them now, as most are now out of Print but do come up from time to time for sale and they are of Wagons so there are several books in the series, E.G (there a good 25 or so approximate) GWR Wagons Before 1948 Vol.1 & Vol. 2, British Railways Private Owner Tank Wagons, British Railways Vans Vol. 1 Vol.2, British Railways Private Owner Wagons Opens & Hoppers, British Railways Wagons Engineer's Stockal - 1, An Illustrated History of the ICI Hopper Wagon by Paul Harrison That's to name just a few of the 25 plus books. I have recently just bought one of the last books I needed, as they don't always come up for sale often, but I like to look at them as there are so many types of wagons and the details of each are excellent for correct bogies and Brake Boxes/Pipes, Springs Couplings etc. Paul Harrison as just released a new book under a new publisher for his latest book in late 2019, entitled Freight in the Peak District by Paul Harrison and is in the final stages of his second book to be published some time this year I think. Paul as excellent knowledge on many things like the Wagons and the 3/4 Letter Acronym that each wagon as. He is on RMWeb ID: pharrc20 aka Paul Harrison. You can see where GTD Layout took there inspiration from in some of the books that both Peter and Paul as produced either together or individually, and the actual building that Peter scratch built for GTD layout. Paul's latest Book Releases is based on Peak District in the UK and the use of the ICI Hoppers. Another Question on the Viaduct... I was looking on Earth Google (See Photo's Below) and just before the Road enters Pen-Y-Clip Tunnel, Is the Viaduct that seems to have 13 Arches in Length, is this the Viaduct we are referring to in your own modelling of ...? (Just so I know I am on the right page) Its a lot further down the line than I though after looking on Earth Google. I also tool the measurements on the whole Length of the Viaduct, if that helps you. (You may already of passed this point due to seeing your photos in the above posts of your. Measured in FEET...! Length of Both Arch & Rounded Pier (Below) Anthony, I am looking at the correct area of what I think must be the Viaduct...? Just so I know where I'm going when the Sun gives me the chance to go and take some photo's etc... Regards Jamie
  13. Wow, really, now I wouldn't have thought it would have in today's industries. When this type of think ever happens, is the power pulled or switch off instantly... I was just thinking, if you went in to attend to a crash down like that, how do you know the power is off, do you have equipment on you that picks up some kind of electrical field or force in some way as you approach the Pylon Cables...? it's interesting I must say... Regard Jamie
  14. Hi Jim, They are great photo's Big Jim, so in all this high winds and floods we are having at present is there ever a limit to what you let a train go through or are the lines generally fairly free from flooding...? I take it most of your work is through the early hours of the night...! You go on some great jobs, all your photos are always excellent to look at, I don't envy you much lol... if only I could hey haha I notice you drive several Liveries Colas Rail before and GBRf this time so are you allowed to take what ever locomotive you are given on that shift you are working, or are you like freelance and qualified to drive all types. I though if you worked for GBRf then you only drive GBRf locomotives... but that can't be the case, unless Companies own other companies locomotive in your industry...? I'm down visiting family in Wolverhampton in March so few visits to Bescot are in hand... Regards Jamie
  15. Hi Scott aka jukebox Thank you for that input, and I was like, tilting my head to try and work out what the Pylon was but now I realise they have folded over in high winds I guess, and a bit further down, how did that happen, a weakness in the structure of the Pylon, and would we ever see that happen today... but it's a great photo Scott, appropriate that mate. Regards Jamie
  16. Hi Anthony I have few more photo's all are of Penmaenmaw All the Photo's below are taken looking in the opposite direction from those in the previous above post. So you have the Road Tunnels seen on the dual carriageway, which spits in to two the one side (Left) carriageway heading towards the tunnel and towards Bangor while the other half (Right) side of the carriageway heading towards us round the far Right side which goes through Pen-Y-Clip Road Tunnel and then lower down you will see the Railway Tunnel or Pen-y-Clip Railway tunnel so you are looking at the tunnel mouth, the other side of the tunnel will be your viaduct.... We see the Railway crosses under the dual carriageway to enter the tunnel shortly after, which you can just about see in the very bottom left corner in the photo's below. This Photo below is taken on the other side of the carriageway from those above, so to your left, you have the dual carriageway then the Railway after that, hope that makes sense to you... so you can try to grasp where I am in relation to the Railway line. Below is a much better close-up (excuse the blurriness) but you can see One half of the dual carriageway going round the edge of the mountain and through Pen-y-Clip Tunnel, while the other half of the carriageways goes through the inside of the mountain itself. and below the carriageway that goes round the edge of the mountain, you can see right through the Railway tunnel lower down, to which is the Viaduct. So the train comes off the Viaduct and enters the tunnel from the other side of the mountain and we see it coming of of the tunnel to enter Penmaenmaw side. All the ABOVE PHOTOS are taken in 2009... I will be uploading 2013 Photo's next and they will be better of better quality as my camera is newer... and much better m-pixel, I'm trying to keep to the years together so I know those photo's have been uploaded. Hope that is OK...! Regards Jamie
  17. Hi Anthony I have few more photo's hope they can be of good us, excuse some as it was an old camera and most are zoomed in so a bit blerd but I will be updating those when the sun next comes out lol all are of Penmaenmawr. Regards Jamie
  18. Wow Anthony, Those Rocks are looking even better, so you have a resin into rock mould that you are using...? Is that just one Mould or Moulds of several shapes etc...? Is the Resin expensive to buy to create the Rock face...? In the past on the RMWeb I have seen up close a guy named Peter in a model club I used to be in and he used Celtex Insulation in sheets of 4ft x 2 ft (buy it in 25mm, 50,, 100mm thicknesses) from any builder store, and he would build it to the height he wanted then shape it with a knife to his liking and then he used Finishing Plaster by using a mini trawl to shape it in the shape of all the cracks etc. of the rock formation. and that looks really good to, paint the rock in greys and with mixed with Blue, Browns, Blacks and Whites to get the different colour shades of Rock Colours etc... I have uploaded many photos of his progress on his many Threads, sadly I don't see him anymore but I used to love and go and watch him model his layouts, you learn a great deal from just watching someone. I took step by step photo's and uploaded them on his Thread, If you search for Peter Midwinter User ID TRAINS12 on here, the RMWeb you will see all my photos on virtually every Layout of his, I took all the photo while he did the work etc, and he was brilliant to watch. In fact, I ran all my modern stock on his layout, as he was in the Steam Era like yourself. But you will 100's of photo's (no surprise there lol) of mine on his threads. He makes all his own track work points with SMP Thrack and Copper Clad... some of his layout are based around North Wales area's in parts. Search his Thread for the following layouts, Great Tunsley Dale, (worth a Look) its you type of Layout for the Buildings you are modelling. all have been scratch built by Peter, I have learned so much in the 5 years I spent with him, loads of How-To's... techniques etc...! Great Tunsley Dale Revisited, The Final Dream, (the Final Dream is every Layout in one huge shed he built to put them all in), Glen Gillie, Loch Inch & Bridge of Muir, Water Mill Halt a small oil/creosote/tar works, Scratch built bridges, How big is your library of reference books?, Trains 12 / Peters workbench, Layout Without A Name, Great Central Model show, Kinmundy, Porth Eithin, Connel Ferry Railway/road bridge 4mm scale, Llanberis Model Railway Show, Barrow Hill 22/23rd September, Porth Penrhyn, His Porth Penrhyn is based just outside Bangor 2 minutes up the road from Bangor. look at his other layouts to, as there is a photo theme of mine lol that I used to upload to his thread to, he models all those type buildings you have in Penmaenmawr, on GTD aka Great Tunsley Dale, his building work is absolutely superb, one of the best models I have seen for detail. GTD is all OO-Gauge and all are of a good length (34ft x 12ft) for exhibition which I used to help him with. As you can see he as many more thread, but for modelling is second to none, superb in detail and It was from being with Peter aka Trains12 that I started to observe what he looks for when modelling hence I guess the photo's I know take today. Regards Jamie
  19. Hi Sarahagain Nice Thread, so this is based on the Wrexham area, it's a shame a line as been gone for however many years. I used to live in Leeswood in Mold and I used to nip down to Peny-Ffordd Station, in fact in 2010, I went from Wrexham to Shotton and I found every station in between by car and took photos of every station in detail on that line... Regards Jamie
  20. Hi Pylon King Those are great mate, do you have any more of other types, in this kind of format...? Regards Jamie
  21. Hi Anthony Penmaenmawr Sidings Photo's Taken on August 10, 2009 Funny, I don't have many photo's for this end of the sidings in general, and when I took these photo's if was to catch the Train I saw in the station as I came round the bend in the distance and so I got off at the junction, I didn't go on, to the station for a close-ups of the Class 66 Freight Liner sadly.... so I only have these photo's of when it was last seen used, which was taken on August 10, 2009 But I'm glad I have taken Photo's of this end of the sidings with Buffer stop as seen in Above Photo, as I tend to have more photos taken from the Penmaenmawr station end and taken up on the bridge to enable me to zoom in more up to this end of the sidings you see here on these 3 Photo's, but again that is on my list to update to. Do you want photo's of the Machinery for the conveyor belts etc., taking the Aggregate to the train and the building you see in the distance...? Just so I know what I need to update on photo wise.... lol Regards Jamie
  22. Hi Anthony I'm just happy I can help as it's near to where I live and I already taken photo's of some things you require Photos on, the Viaduct, it is on my radar to do leave that with me, we are in the middle of Storms at present and as not stopped raining for the last 24 hours where I am... maybe I live to near the Mt.Snowdon and under it's own little weather pastern as I can go one/two miles out of my village and its all good, still cloudy though lol. Penmaenmawr Sidings Photo's I have few photos of the Penmaenmawr Sidings round the back of the station, between Penmaenmawr station and the Dual Carriageway, quiet over grown now, as the last time I took a photo of any movement of filling Wagons with aggregate with a Class 66 was back in 2009, never seen nothing there since but the track work is all there and they did drop a load of new Ballast down in that area back in 2012/13 with talks of a new contract for more aggregate but whether that feel through I don't know as I say, I have never seen movement in that part since 2009, I think it was...? The points levers to change Points are still look like the originals, I guess it was the place where the Irish Night Mail accident happened after reading the book on the shunting at 3am in the early hours moving wagons out on to the UP line. You say and I'll try and deliver the goods... lol Your Photos are looking great, love the way you have made that clevis looking area in the rocks as if water should be trickling down of the mountains, looks really good. (Photo 1,3 & 4) Your Rock face look superb to... Look forward to seeing the end result of your hard work... Regards Jamie
  23. Hi woodenhead Totally agree, and yes I noticed that to on the Engine Shed, and I smiled thinking he's just dropped a bollock there! You would think Hornby in the comfort of the HQ just need to read the comments on here to see what they need to update on there website, and what area's are of important's in a model to take note of, or even getting the information correct before going public on the YouTube Channel... It's an embarrassment for them and bad PR... Few Director's at the top need sacking instead of looking if the share price is ever going to recover, which in the last month since they announcements of 2020 is been down overall, and Down 59% in the last half decade, even though it's gone up by 1.7% in the last 7 days, why that is I don't know and down by 9.2% for the year, not a good company to invest in over the last 15 years. To much in debt to, so they are at the mercy of there lenders to, once they say enough is enough, that will be it for Hornby, is just a matter of time, possibly... although I hope not, personally with so many great brands under their belt. Someone said on the Hornby Announcement thread that there are several Hornby Reps who are on the RMWeb, well if that is the case, do they not read the comments and report back to Hornby HQ there findings... (or are those just classed as fancy Sales Guys and only work on Commission on what they sell on and therefore not interested in passing information on but what they bring home at the end of the week/month) Regards Jamie
  24. Hi Colin I think personally Colin, I prefer to have the extra coach sitting around than wishing I bough another Twin Pack and none to be found anywhere... than having to pay over the odds on eBay... Just in case like the real APT had two spares coaches made, I prefer to do the same I think and have a spare coach for future mods or parts it I have to... trouble is the extra spare I want and prefer are only in the 5-car and 7-car sets and not in the Twin Packs which makes my spares even dearer to keep as a spare... It grieves me that Shops can go over the RRP Price... they should capped the price at the RRP price,... I know that will never happen lol So only 49002 NDM is an Empty Un-Powered Coach with no motor inside it, (Dummy Only), have I read and understood the List Correctly ..? and the other three of the NDM will all be Powered with Motor's...! Well... I can stick a speaker in the Dummy 49002 NDM Coach if the Powered NDM Coach as no room inside it... that's good... Regards Jamie
  25. Ah man... Tempted today to Drone it first... with the glimmer of sunshine we had for couple of hours this morning. I have an App I use that tell's me if it's good to fly or not, based on perimeter's I set... [ If Wind Speed is <=24mph ] as the wind speed is the major factor and although it was Equal or below 24mph and in GREEN which is what I want, but the Cross Winds were over double [ >24mpg ] and was 62mph for the Cross Wind Speed and was in RED... so Big NO NO... Never mind, lets hope weather is better over the weekend... Regards Jamie
