  1. Hi Kev If you do Model that, put the photo on here, out of Interest bud. Regards Jamie
  2. Yes... I know what you mean from those childhood long journeys, I think the RMWeb is a great central place for information of many kinds of subjects to exchange knowledge and to upload photos to pass on Information that mean nothing to some and means everything to some one else. Like I said earlier, the only way of learning is to ask questions, I think Modellers tend to have a wealth of information, because when you model something, then all things have to have a purpose in life, it's not just there because it looks good. Same is true when I pass an Oil Refinery (at night the lights off all those gangways would look great to model) with so many pipes that just seem to go to nowhere, lol (says someone who know nothing) but they are there for a purpose as an example. Pylons to me are like... always been there, was there ever a time they weren't Pylons, well obviously there must have been but as we have had electricity for 100 or more years, it's something we see in our every day life when out n about and on our travels but you never think twice why they are they... (I'll worry about that when my iPad doesn't turn on or charge up haha we take Electricity for granted) that's where RMWeb plays a part, as it brings people and knowledge together. Regards Jamie
  3. Wow Kev, where do you find your Pylons from... Is there something extra going up the inside of that Pylon, maybe to carry Communication cable up etc... maybe... I never thought they would ever mix Mast with Electrical or does the new 5G have something to do with it, my Towers are in different folds to my Pylons, have I now got to merge the two together...lol Regards Jamie
  4. Blimey we all on tonight... We expecting a electrical thunderstorm or something lol Jamie
  5. They look more Foreign than UK, I only say that because when I went to Florida, the Pylons were so weird looking, I wish I was in to this back then as I would have Photos... You look at some, and they just don't look British. Now were back out the EU can we go back to all things British and have the British Kite mark back as the British have the Best Standards anywhere in the World... Erm... lets not go there just yet... lol Doh! haha I have a few similar oddly looking Telegraph pole type Electrical Post, (can't call them Pylons can we... Hmmm) I will find out again back on the A5 when I visit family... we may have pointed some out several Posts back. Regards Jamie
  6. Blimey Kev... Model that Pylon for a Layout, that's an awesome Pylon to Model... and Yeah I agree... I dare not touch the subject of D2' L2's, just in case R2D2 and Starwars comes into the equation, I like to thing Starwars is an excellent mythical film, no arm done hey lol it's to early for my brain to take on, still working on my Type1 D1 and Type2 D2, sods laws I have that wrong way round to... hahah Yet, I guess these going underground (in the Car park ABOVE) to cross a carriageway or a shopping Centre of some sort to prevent Extreme Dangers to Human Life... Hey, I've watched Starwars I already seen what goes on in Space hahah and now Kev as put D's and L's into my head and I come up with R2D2, you can tell why I have to ask the many questions lol Regards Jamie
  7. So do some of you RMWeber's actually work in this field lol having to climb them... (out of Interest) or is it knowledge you all picked up and like Paul said the more you read in to anything the more you notice the changes... Paul, I only know you, who can real off just about any 3 Letter wagon Acronyms, I guess publishing Books helps that lol, you should release on Pylons... Is there such a publication on Pylons... !?! Hmmm Regards Jamie
  8. Wow Pylon King That's a great Pylon, so when you " the latter also takes the line down from quad to duo. " .... Are you referring to the Number of Cable Power Lines... 4 down to 2 per arm on the Pylon...? Would I be correct in saying there is insulators for every Cable Line where a New Cable Ends/Starts on the D1 Type (Hmmm is it...!) so to speak...? Regards Jamie
  9. Great Diagrams... Interesting, sorry my lack of knowledge on this... so why are some Wider at the bottom and others narrower, I presume weight will play a part or stability of some kind...? (3 part Question) Why is it, that some... have EQUAL ARM Lengths...? Others Start WIDER at the TOP ARM and Progressively get Narrower on the BOTTOM ARM...? While others ONLY the MIDDLE ARM is WIDER...? Thanks. Regards Jamie
  10. Hi Felix aka L2's are great! Blimey, that's better than the one I put up, but your appears to be in fairly more open land and not so mountainous or hilly like I get here in North Wales... Would that be due to high cross winds being so fairly flat and open, I can only think of Norfolk or Suffolk area's are very flat and open or somewhere more south rather than North... I say that based on South Wales become more rolley hills than the jaggedness I get here in North Wales. Regards Jamie
  11. Hi Paul and Everyone... That makes good sense to as I did say that the Extra Insulator was only on the one side and both... It's amazing what you see in everyday life but have no clue as to why they are different... till you start asking ones who know, like Paul aka pharrc20, Felx aka L2's are great!, Matthew aka LMS_LNER_SR_GWR_fan2004, Kev aka SHMD and Pylon King. Knowledge brings people together on a subject not many would go out of there way to be so interested in, Watching Modellers make the things they do, is what interests me and I knew Paul was very knowledgeable in this area and Modeller, but at least I grasp the true understanding why they are, how they are...! We are just normal people wanting to ask questions, if you don't ask questions, how can learn the important's of... and improve on it. Thanks Everyone for all your inputs thus far, along with Photo's and Diagrams of, to understand the differences... Much Appropriated. Regards Jamie
  12. Hi Felix aka L2's are great! That's very interesting and make sense once you know the correct logic behind the purpose as to why they are, like they are. Thanks for that Felix, much appropriated my friend. Regards Jamie
  13. Interesting... Only the Highlighted Apt-P Number (Below) are the ones (Seven) that are now preserved at 'Crewe Heritage Centre'. Not even 49003, the one of (Six) Centre Power Cars produced and the only one that was Named ‘City of Derby’ was also scrapped. While M 49006 was the N-DM was the Power Unit on loan at Coventry and was only saved shortly before the DJM Open Day, it arrived the week before, while M 49002 makes up part of the Six-Car Rake at Crewe. The Scrapping of the APT-P was in 1987. 14. Hi All, some Extra Information. Taken from British Rail Coaching Stock (Book) 1980 RCTS ADVANCED PASSENGER TRAIN (APT-P) Six half trains are being formed, each of which will consist of six trailers articulated on seven bogies plus one power car. Whne in service two power cars will be adjacent and will share one pantograph for the 25kV overhead line. In addition, two spare trailers have been built; one for each end of the six-car articulated set. These trains were built at Derby and their lot numbers are included with other details below. DTS Lot 30923 LE2.01.0A 33.7T. 52S. 1L. BT12a end bogie. TS 30924 LH02.01.0A 24.0T. 72S 2L BT11 articulated bogies. TRSB 30925 LK02.01.0A 26.7T. 28S 1L. BT11 articulated bogies. It will be seen that these vehicles have not been put together according to the final digit of their numbers. At the end of 1979 only the following were in stock: DTS 48101-4, TS 48201/2/6, TU 48301/2, 48401, TF 48501/2, RBF 48601/2/3, M 48001-5 (Total 20). The statistics below apply to each half train. End of Book Information. Extra Information. In service 1972–1976 (APT-E) In service 1980–1986 (APT-P) I find it very hard to believe or just to take in that the APT-P information (Above) is from the British Rail Coaching Stock (Book) 1980 RCTS, when you consider the 'In Service' Years were 1980-1986 (APT-P) and yet a Total of just 20 vehicles (See... RED Numbers in the Above List) were left running until 1986 when it was then scrapped, although some must have been Stored for a good 5 years, (See... BLACK Numbers in the Above List had already been scrapped or Stored as few In Black are now at Crewe, which why I say Stored), Yet this is as stated in the British Rail Coaching Stock (Book) 1980 RCTS, (Above) Rather sad really, R4970 BR APT-U Ex-TS 48204 Development Vehicle 48204 / 977527 Single Coach Pack Regards Jamie
  15. I'd stick to Two Heep's of Baking Powder in warm water, stir till dissolved then place Loco Body in the warm water... Most of the YouTube Channels I watch on stripping pains, is for Metals like Matchbox, Corgi and Dinky Cars, not sure how that compares to using Dettol on Plastic and using Baking Powder, as we can use Baking Powder to put in food or edible, If Baking Powder may not be strong enough to strip your insides out, so you may need something stronger with a little quick in it, like a good Vindaloo that normally drains me totally, or if want to pay a little more, then 3 weeks in Deli, that way I can guarantee I will always get Deli Belly, Two days in... I become a costume of a man, you can hang me up on the back of the bedroom door for 3 weeks after that...! haha Although these tips may be funny, they can also be very serious... Dettol you may get gunk residue at the end but the Deli Trip you get none of that gunk lark, and Top Tip... don't push whatever you do, it certainly not just a fart that comes out of you, trust me. haha This comment (Above) still brings a smile to my face... When dasatcopthorne Repied .... NO... (not even a WHY after NO...) RMWeb Gold right there.... Brilliant Regards Jamie
  16. Hi All More of the Odd Looking Pylon at Blaenau Ffestiniog in North Wales.... Below is the Pylon at the Top... Tried a Bigger Format on Size to bring in Bigger as if its Closer... however that works lol its confusing as the Isolator's are both Vertical and Horizontal on the same Pylon... I would of asked, is that ever possible... !?! but obviously Yes it is... Taken in two halves, the Top and Middle Arms, then the Middle and Bottoms Arms of the Pylon... Is it a Pass Through Pylon or a Joining a New Cable Pylon.... What is also confusing on this Pylon is that Furthest Arm side seems to only have Two Isolator's but Three Isolator's on the nearest side as we see from the view in the Photo... Above...! Is this a Check-Mate Move on the Pylons... Paul... hahaha Regards Jamie
  17. Interesting... never knew you could QUOTE yourself... lol Anyways... back to Blaenau Ffestiniog, and this is an excellent pylon for you to explain Paul or anyone else for that matter... Regards Jamie
  18. Hi Paul Yes I have read you correctly then on that one, cheers Paul Does that APPLY for the same DEGREE's UP or DOWN... as well LEFT and RIGHT, I'll find a photo out of a couple of Pylons of when I was in Blaenau Ffestiniog last, the Pylon's came down a real steep part and it was only One Length of Cable to Each D1's is that...!?! they did not carry on through the Pylon the Conductor's were Horizonal as appose to Vertical... saying that they were Diagonal due to the steepness of the Incline up to the next Pylon. Regards Jamie
  19. Hi Anthony Do you have any of the Books by Middleton Press (MP, Publishers) as they also do some fantastic books, I only have the those in the Pile below:- (Yes, I have two of some, it's what happens when you don't make a list of the Books I do have, hence this photo is now in my phone to refer to) lol Those are the only ones I have but I they to have good information and for just about every route in the UK. Few Front Cover views of them the PM Books:- And also this Book is another good one... Hmmm Pen-y-clip Rail Viaduct... Would that happen to be it in the above photo which is on the Front Cover of that Book...? When you said Pen-y-clip, I refer to the Road Tunnels which I do have many of inside the road tunnel as they recently upgraded all the lighting inside the road tunnel to LED Lighting which I do have, but if you are referring to the Railway Via Viaduct, which I never knew existed till now... and from the Dual Carriage way seen to the Left on the Front Cover (Above), then it would be a challenge but also a mission... plus even though I have this book and the photo on the front cover, it as never accrued to me before... (go on say Anthony, You know you want to lol ... what my Brother always says... I bet you ain't got a photograph of that have you Jay... hahahaha lol) I'm laughing myself here... sad... lol Just wondering if I can access it from the beach while the tide is out, or Drone It would be brilliant... if you can expand a little more as I have never venture over the edge and looked down at this bit of the railway before and there is actually a cyclist / walkers path that goes round the edge of Pen-y-clip Road Tunnel, for Cyclists & Walkers Path Only, as No Pedestrian aloud through the Road Tunnel which is just as well as the view down onto that Railway will be a good one and I'm taking it that, that photo as been taken on that very walk path... gosh i want to go out now... man...! Even if you know say to me, no that's not the viaduct I was referring to, well still tell me more, as I will not have it, I'm pretty sure of that but I will have at some point, some photos of the one on the Front Cover of the Book above... Hmmm.... whatever it is... I need my Zoom Lens that's for sure. Regards Jamie
  20. Hi Paul So the D10, D30, D60 or D90 all have the Half of the number in the degree's in how much the cables will turn, E.G. D10 as 5 Degree's either way, D30 as 15 Degree's either way, D60 as 30 Degree's either way, D90 as 45 Degree's either way... Have I understood that correctly...? Interesting Paul with the above Posts... Regards Jamie
  21. Hi Anthony I don't have a Thread for my layout unfortunately, but I plan to when I stop buy the latest loco's and the Hornby Catalogue and me being a Huge APT fan of, Dec2020/Jan2021 is going to be a huge payout to Hornby, but a savings plan as been put in to place lol By Oldest Brother is into N-Gauge so I know the sizes we are referring to and personally, several years ago N-Gauge have always lead the way in certainly Modern Day Livery by far, which is more my era or from BR Blue, Br Blue/Grey on wards, can't say I ever even remember the BR Green, Era EVER...! But on my way back to visit family in the Midlands, I always drop in at the Dapol Factory and Shop in Chirk on the A5, who always tempt me into N-00 & 0-Gauges... I put it down to Staff Training personally... lol Your Books... You seem to have just about all and more than me if that is just for North Wales Coast Line... Some I have documented for future the next time I go to WHHR in Porthmadog. Is your... Lost Lines of Wales; Chester to Holyhead by GRAFFEG...? I have at least Nine Variants that they have released of most of Lost Lines of Wales Series all are great. Glad you said the 3 Places again... I was going to ask what the third place was, I got Penmaenmawr and Bangor, and I was thinking Llanfairfechan, but I take it, it's Conwy Station, I have only been once to Conwy Station itself although I have been many times before to Conwy as they have Festival Fairs on several times a year but I tend to miss the station when I go to those, but there is a Hill I walk up to take some great photos of Conwy Castle and Railway Cage Tunnel over the Estuary, I try and catch the WAG train (Welsh Assembly Government Train) which is Class 67 with Mk3 Coach with DVT on the rear in Arriva Livery which prior to that was a Class 57 and Mk2 Coaches back in about 2010 or 2012 maybe and they store it at Holyhead on a weekend as its the Main very Limited Stops down to the City Train on Monday to Friday's and starts out around 5;30am to get to Cardiff for around 9-9:30 and again on the night back start back around 5:30pm/6'ish and it arrives at Holyhead around 10pm, its ran to pick up all MP's (Government) and those who worked in the City (Remembering the Capital of Wales is Cardiff) When I first heard them say the City Train, me being from the Midlands, I took it as London, the City haha, that was my First Welsh Lesson. I still laugh now whenever I hear anyone say the WAG Train... I'm like oh... that's the Train that goes to the City of London... haha I have plenty of photos of the WAG Train as it's always parked up in Holyhead over the weekend. They use it on special Welsh Government Outings (because WE are paying for them to use it, for the MP's and there Families) when the Welsh Assemble have there yearly Conference/Convention at Venue Cymru (Cymru = Wales and Cymraeg = Welsh [that was my Second Lesson in Welsh...lol]) in Llandudno, and that is when I tend to catch Photo's of the WAG Train, in the light as it passed Conwy Castle, but it takes me some time to get in the spot I want to take the photo's of, as it is literally on the side of a Steep Hill, and I can't talk for a week when I get into place... lol I do have several Photo of the Conwy station, but I think a re-visit is on the cards, in Order to update some Photo's I could do with a few more close-ups of some area's in the station, so I have that on my to-do list... Just give me a year or so... lol I hope the Foot Bridge Photo's were to you liking, not to many I hope... tell me if there were to many as I tend to get carried away, like I said in my previews POST, they are for Modelling purposes hence I try and cover every angle I can and more. In fact, when my Brother and I go out on the ELR Railway aka (East Lancs Railways) or the SVR Railway aka (Seven Valley Railway) he will only take 10 to 20 photo's max, while I will take sometime over a 1000 plus photo's. in fact It's a running joke with him now, as he will ALWAYS point at something stupid like a screw head on some Lamp on the Coach or Fire Extinguisher Holder and say... Jay... I bet you you ain't got a photograph of this..., as he points at the Screw Head... followed by the words... Is it not killing you, to take a photo of that... You know you don't have a photograph of that Screw head... haha, haha (Brother for You hey lol, but we have a good laugh) oh... between You and Me... I can admit, He's Friggin right every time... lol Obviously If I ever find out he as started looking at the RMWeb, this Sentence will be Edited and Deleted... Doh...! (that's for Sure, I'm not going to give him the Enjoyment, as it will just be another Micky take out of me AGAIN...lol, it's what happens when you are the youngest of the siblings) I do always say that The Midland Humour is always the best... we're so use to to having the 'P taken out of you'. Regards Jamie
  22. Hi Eden Road TMD Cool, I helped exhibit one of our Club layout for two running in 2012 and 2013 at Bonnubridge MRC and was a great Show.... REgard Jamie
