  1. Do as I say not do as I do! Anyway, having found madera contrachapada marino in my local Leroy's, I'm onto plan B. It's 53 euros a sheet, don't know how that compares to blighty, can anybody oblige? Mike.
  2. Thanks for that, there was me thinking lager was German for weasel p!ss. Mike.
  3. Going from prototype photo's, as a layout model, that looks fine, the slats, (front bar of the louvres), cover up most of the hole, and the black backing finishes the job off. In order to give the louvres a bit of 3D relief, would it be possible to leave the bit of brass in between the slats, etch it through on the two sides and along the top, then half etch the top of the slat on the inside and fold the bit back in at a jaunty angle to give the impression of a louvre? I realise that this is a monumental task with the number of louvres involved, but, having got used to the millions of rivets on the coke hoppers, shouldn't be too onerous a task. Mike.
  4. The roof ventilators came into the equation for widened line clearances too, I believe the acceptable ones were further out from the vehicle centre line. Mike.
  5. Solder. Grammar. Kettles. ECML Horsetrading. Wolf of Badenough. DJH Gaugewars. I think that about covers most weeks. Mike.
  6. One hopes Bachmann are aware of this, or at least have now read the thread? Mike.
  7. Clearance, as we old fuddy duddies would call it? Methinks someone has had a university education somewhere along the way. Mike.
  8. Pardon my igmorance, but what is a kinematic envelope, is it something The Odeon send their tickets out in? Mike.
  9. A couple of suggestion on the louvres, ( I know it's your kit and you'll do it so you'll be happy with it!). A seperate fret of folding louvres like Mike Edge does for the diesel radiators. I pushed the boat out for the cement wagon and had Modelu 3D print the fillers, although for the amount of real estate it takes up on a siphon G, that might get a bit expensive. Mike.
  10. Wow. you've got a bloody good memory Jol . Mike.
  11. What a brilliant idea, why didn't someone think of that? Oh, wait, 1st January 1948. Mike.
  12. You really should use a computer Bill, it's the modern way! Mike.
  13. Lets hope the yard isn't the white elephant that the TIRFP seems to be? Mike.
  14. This layout mobilised into looking for Shap steam on youtube, having watched the real thing, I now appreciate the excellence of the model even more, give it a go if you haven't already. Mike.
  15. Substitute "model railway things" for "pots" and you've pretty much got a Warley traders view of the weekend! Mike.
