  1. . Can anyone tell me whether the units forming the semi-fast stopping trains calling at Mitcham Junction in the early 1960's would have been formed of 2-BILs, 2-HALs or 6-PANs ? Also, can anyone say when the Southern Region got rid of "Ladies Only" compartments and their stickers ? Thanks ( and Merry Christmas). .
  2. . Thanks for that - lovely. However "realistic outside motion" ? ( I suppose that it is at least "realistic". ) .
  3. . Re. any possible "Dummy" units, I seem to remember reading that the motor coach has a metal chassis, so a simple re-use may be both more weighty and more expensive than necessary. .
  4. . Hornby have announced a new CCT model. There are two links to the "BR" version which seem to contradict each other. This one ; http://www.Hornby.com/shop/2013-range/wagons/r6641-br-4-wheel-cct-van/ States its period as "the 1980s" which IMPLIES that it will be blue ( ????? ) --------- Whilst this one ; https://www.model-railways-live.co.uk/News/New_Hornby_2013_passenger_stock/ States it is Maroon (and "- BR Parcels Van (2 variants) Maroon. " ) Can anyone clarify the colour and date, Thanks. .
  5. . So, any news of a 4-VEP re-vamp? Seemingly no new one in 2013 ??????????????? .
  6. . I find the best place to look is here ; http://www.ayrey.co.uk/reframe.asp?manuf.asp?id=OXF Ayrey's are a wholesaler/distributer and they have MANY pages of ranges, e.g. for Base Toys (BT) ; http://www.ayrey.co.uk/reframe.asp?items.asp?id=308 Their index page is ; http://www.ayrey.co.uk/reframe.asp?welcome.asp ----------------- Whilst Oxford tend to announce the general marques first in the "Globe", Ayrey tend to show the specific models first. .
  7. . Back to headcodes, you could see some oddities between the penultimate stop and a terminus, or connection location, or a terminus. This would be because the driver/motorman might want to change ends or get away quickly and wanted to get out of his cab fast. For terminii, often it would be the double red, for the Chipstead Valley line, often the train would arrive at Purley showing either two white or blank blinds to hook-up with the Caterham train. I am sure that at other locations there were oddities. .
  8. . So the Black items would be suitable for all post war ??? .
  9. . I found this whilst looking around on the web :- http://www.nrm.org.uk/OurCollection/RunningTheRailway/CollectionItem.aspx?objid=1978-7336&pageNo=416#panel-1 http://www.nrm.org.uk/globalmedia/pic1_1978-7336_2.png http://www.nrm.org.uk/globalmedia/pic_1978-7336_2.png http://www.nrm.org.uk/globalmedia/pic2_1978-7336_2.png .
  10. . Can the close couplers work with the M7 ?
  11. Thanks for that. I probably won't get one as I have one already and another gate set on order from Kernow, but it is good news. .
  12. . Well ! Yet another call from a Liverpudlian box shifter ( really good customer service ) - confirming that Hornby will get SOME more coach sets delivered, but that that PARTICULAR box shifter won't be getting any more. .
  13. Graham Muz has clarified his understanding of the outstanding deliveries on his website ; "............As per my subsequent post regarding availability of these sets here further deliveries to complete retailers outstanding pre-orders of R3087 and R4534 should be completed in July. I would add that this does not mean that retailers whom have either not got outstanding orders or ordered enough at the time will be able to order more of this batch as they may already be all accounted for." .
  14. . It is still available at Hornby's on-line store ( £74.99 - post free ) - I ordered mine yesterday and it arrived 11:00 this morning. .
  15. . After this problem raised its head I THOUGHT I was happy as I had mine coach-pack on order from a Liverpudlian box shifter since last June - however it appears I was too late in my order. Yesterday I rang up the company and asked then to check. Just now (10:00 am Wednesday) I received a phone call back stating that they have been in touch with Hornby and that there will NOT be any further deliveries, and my order is definitely cancelled ! (IF it is re-released I will need to re-order it.) So, either Simon Kohler has it wrong, or he needs to get his people better informed. .
  16. . Good luck to Dapol and Model Rail - but I won't be buying one, too many other interesting Southern Region tank engines to come. .
  17. . Now, how many of those had air pumps ? .
  18. Is the probable change to a "JA" type later going to be reversible ? I.E. Will a later class 73 be mouldable at a still later date ? THANKS.
  19. Pennine MC is correct, I was wondering which type Bachmann would find easiest to backdate the Dukedog to.
  20. From the point of view of future choices, does the "Dukedog" lend itself better to back-dating to a "Duke" or a "Bulldog" ? (Presumably the boiler moulding is easier to change than any adjustment to the double frames ???)
  21. . I didn't know that that version of the Ringfield motor came from Fleishmann, I had ASSUMED that it came from Hornby-Dublo from the time it was part of Rovex. .
  22. . By showing all 4 from near-enough dead-ahead you flatter Hornby by not showing the false-depth of the door recess and the lack of shadow effect between the two pieces of the gangway .
