  1. Hi Mike, Excellent work so far, following this with interest. Michael
  2. Hi Guy's Thank you very much for all the help and for taking the trouble to post photos and links, the hopper wagon photos taken at Fenwick in Backworth and posted by Jeremy C are of particular interest as my layout will be 70s based , although at the time of my original post I had no idea of the wagons used in collieries but the type shown at Fenwick would be something that I would like to use on my colliery or something similar. I have done a quick search online but have not up anything of any real interest either RTR or kit form. Michael
  3. I might have some plastic Vitrains 37 horns in my bits box, if I have and you want them you can have them. Michael
  4. Thanks for that Brian I will check Paul Bartlett's site. Michael
  5. Hi all, I am building a 1970s colliery on my layout and was wondering which would be the best type of wagon to use as internal user wagons, either RTR or kits. I had thought of 16T minerals but thought someone might know of a better type of wagon appropriate to the era. Thanks in advance Michael
  6. Thanks for the info Les. Michael
  7. Hello Les, That hedging you have used in the last photo looks very realistic, who's is it please, good to see progress being made. Michael
  8. I remember the funfair well, during the 70s when I was around 12 dad used to drive us to Burntisland to visit an elderly distant relative, from what I can remember she lived in a very big stone built apartment type of building just a few yards from the funfair. After we arrived it was a quick 'hello' then myself and my cousin dashed out, money in hand to the funfair! There always seemed to be Class 20s trundling through the station back then......what it was to be young!
  9. It's good to know that there is a variety of products and ideas to help with construction. Thanks again all. Michael
  10. Thanks to all who took the time and trouble to post a reply and post photos. Michael
  11. Thanks Jeff I will bear that in mind when I make a start.
  12. Hi Jeff, The layout is permanent and no track has been laid in that section yet but will be laid on flat baseboard (9mm plywood)
  13. Hi all, I want to build an embankment (if thats the correct name) on my layout. I have absolutely no experience at all with working with model railway scenics. I have done a bit research online but not really found anything that might help. Are there any kits/materials available that assist in building these structures, when built what is the best way to add covering ie, grass, bushes etc? The type of hill/embankment I want to build with sidings on top sloping down to the lower sidings can be seen at the link below. https://www.flickr.com/photos/irishswissernie/5663776130/in/set-72157626472020361 Thanks in advance to anyone who might be able to help. 14. I remember the Class 101s carrying the 'Tynerail' crests in the early 70s, some of the names included 'Bobby Shaftoe' 'Adam Buckham' and 'Cushy Butterfield' I'm not sure of any others. Michael
  15. Great photos Chris, thanks for posting. Looking forward to more!
  16. Thank you to everyone who took the time to reply to my post.
  17. Hi Thanks for your reply, so is the outside curve formed first and fixed to the baseboard then any straights are simply joined on? I have always used Setrack in the past so flexi is very new to me. Thanks again Michael
  18. As I have no idea how to use Peco flextrack for making curves I have used Peco Setrack 3rd radius curves for the inner loop on my layout but I want to use flexi for the outside curves which I assume would be close to a 4th radius curve, problem is I don't know how to start the curves because of the way the rails go shorter or longer as the track is manipulated. If anyone can advise me on this I would be very grateful. Thanks in advance Michael
  19. Hi Nick, Finally got it sorted, I had to enter the part number in the search box, strange thing was it wouldn't work first time. Thanks again Nick for your help. Michael
  20. Hi Guy's thank you for the replies, I want to order some MSE items so is the ordering process the same? Michael
  21. Has anyone purchased from 'Wizard Models' using the online shop? I would like to do so but just cannot find how to add items to basket or how to check out. All I can find is how to place orders by phone or email. Any help would be much appreciated. Michael
  22. I dont run DMUs but wondered if it would be possible to mount a very small pb or slide switch discreetly on the DMU body to control the lighting? As I said I dont run any DMUs so my knowledge of them is limited. Michael
  23. Thank you very much to everyone for taking the time to reply to my post and for giving me loads of advice, ideas and information. Regards to all Michael
