  1. I am about to start and solder the dropper wires to my track but I am unsure of the best way to do this. Do I solder the wires to the bottom of the rails and how are the droppers routed through the baseboards, do I drill a hole under each rail in the baseboard or just one central hole, also, how long can I safely leave my Antex soldering iron switched on? I am new to DCC and just want to get it right first time.....hopefully! Thanks in advance. Michael
  2. Exactly the same for me, I got the Dynamis set and pro box as a starter set up but ended up selling it to get a Lenz 100, best thing I could have done! Michael
  3. Thanks for all the replies chaps, I had messed around with Hornby flexible track a while back but going off what I have read in all your informative replies the Peco track is way better than Hornby. I will get some Peco Flexi and have a play around with it. Thanks again guy's Michael
  4. I have normally used Hornby track for straights and curves in the past but with a new layout looming I want to use Peco Flexi track, I have never used this before can anyone give me some hints on getting it right first time with regard to forming curves and leading away from turnouts etc. Any advice would be gratefully received. Thanks in advance. Michael
  5. Mine worked fine for a while after I bought it, I was using it in my loft with three five foot tube lights but it started losing signal but nothing had been changed in my loft. So it was goodbye Dynamis, went down the Lenz route....end of problems. Michael
  6. Been following this, absolutely brilliant! To me there is something special about colliery based layouts, I am going to build a loft layout with a colliery loosely based on Lynemouth Colliery up here in the North East, if mine turns out only half as good as yours I will be very pleased! Michael
  7. Hi all, Thanks for the replies, I got a copy of the magazine.......eventually! Michael
  8. Hi thanks for that, I've just been on the their web site but it is listed as out of stock.
  9. Sorry, forgot about that, it's issue 171 the Class 37s.
  10. I wasn't sure where to post this but here goes, I'm desperate to find the above magazine, if anyone can help with this issue I would be very grateful. Will pay cost and P&P Thanks in advance.
  11. Some useful and helpful comments posted, thank you very much and thanks to the guy's for taking the time to post the excellent photos.
  12. Hi Brian, Thanks for that, what does the 'Kip' part mean? yes the 37s were sometimes stabled that way too at West Blyth and would come into the upper and lower sidings with van leading.
  13. Hi guy's Phil, PM sent Alun, yes some sort of track diagram would be most helpful! bigd, At West Blyth sometimes a Class 37 would propel a BV to the lower yard sidings to collect empties, the loco would stop short of a point switched for a short siding with a slight incline, the BV would be uncoupled and the loco would give it a hard push and stop at the point, the BV would run up the siding and the guard would apply the brake. When the loco was coupled to the empties the train would draw forward just past the point then the guard would release the BV brakes and the van would simply gravitate down to the rear of the train at which point it was coupled up to the last wagon then off to the colliery, often Lynemouth Colliery.
  14. Hi Phil, Thanks for your reply, your description makes it sound so obvious. A big help to a problem I couldn't figure out!
  15. What shunting would be required to remove a brake van from a rake of empty hoppers and attach it to the rear of a rake of full hoppers prior to leaving colliery sidings? I am building a colliery on my layout but can't work out how to carry out this manoeuvre. I've not had much luck searching for colliery trackplans to help figure this out. If anyone is running a colliery on their layout a few pointers would be much appreciated.
  16. I stand corrected.....sorry, sit corrected.
  17. Thinners will melt the plastic also.
  18. Is it my pc or is there a problem with the Fotopic links?
  19. You are doing an excellent job there, keep up the good work.
