kirley
NIR 70 Class #74 A month ago my layout developed a 'short' but it was only today did I summon up the resolve to get underneath the layout and fix it. As a reward I ran my Class 70 4 Car Set made back in 2010. As you can hear the power is provided by a Lima motor. 3
RMweb Gold Robert Shrives Posted March 27, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 27, 2021 Who needs sound when you have a lima pancake motor and its gears . Thanks for sharing a lovely rendition of piece of historic traction. 2

Hunslet 102
Great video and 70 class set Kieran, Kirley Junction looking as good as ever
kirley
It all started with a CIE Container snagging on Kirley Junction Station canopy, and got me thinking I was never really happy with this part of the layout. So decision made and the yellow machines were sent in. Two weeks work gone in 40 minutes. On the revised layout the Station building would be facing outwards. I tried to place the Engine Shed but the Station looked too cluttered. I managed to squeeze a passing loop with some small sidings. The GNR(I) coach supplied the wide body and the Mk III the length for testing any snags. Finally settled on where the Station and Signal Cabin would go. A better view of Kirley Junction Station (Navin). Tried there new point motors from Peco with smart switches, not convinced they are an easier fit. One switch sent back faulty. Used a Hornby kit for the footbridge. I had forgotten how tough the plastic was and how hard it was to stick the shortened parts to it. Got there in the end. Ran out of ballast so I did some of the scenics while waiting on delivery. Still lots to do.

jhb171achil
Janey mac! It just reminded me of Strabane when I saw it just after they'd lifted the track! Well done, good amendments. If only you had been about to get Strabane going again in real life!

Here depicted in it's last working role with an NIR PW train. The Brake Van was scratch built by Gareth Brennan using plasticard.

Hunslet 102
The brake van looks great Kieran. The colour looks spot on, your builder certainly has an eye for detail
NoelG
Fair dos Kieran, it takes courage to rip up a mature section of a layout and rearrange it so skilfully.
kirley
20T CIE Brake Van -JM Design My model arrived today from New Zealand after been held in Customs for over a week. It’s contained in well designed packaging and was intact. I see holes have been left for the addition of hand rails and some minor fettling is needed to make the roof a tight fit to the body. The body was clear of any marks denoting the 3D construction of the model. In addition I got a nickel silver logo and name of the ‘Radio Train’ a nice surprise. Lambeg Man
Great work as always Kirley. However, surely that van at the front is a 'W 1', not a 'Y 5'? May I also ask why the last carriage appears to be oversize compared to the rest of the rake? Just interested. LM
kirley
Of course you are correct Steve, a W1 Shapeways Model. The L12 Brake/3rd is a Worsley Works Model, the others are Silver Fox Models on an Airfix chassis.
