A bit of head scratching working out the beast way to tackle the body build.  Due to lack of instructions for the turbo and working from limited photos.  I think I'm somewhere near being right.  The next stage is the lower castings and the many pipes. That's for another day though. You will notice the large weight in the s/box to balance the rear with the motor and firebox.

Well that's the pipe work sorted. Getting on of top this build now. I'm itching to be at the stage of removing all ash visible solder and a good clean.

There is still a fair bit to do as yet though.

You're probably fed up with now. But here is the final product, at last. I'm quite pleased with the out come considering it has been not easy to do with a fair bit of searching for photos. Even though Geoff did sully me with a couple of interesting books on this loco the photos did leave a little to the imagination.

Had fun over the Christmas period, during quiet spells I dabbled with the Bowen Cooke 0-8-2T.  I broke away from the instruction sheet regarding the chassis and decided to attach all the fittings, except cab steps, to the chassis and not the body. This allowed pipe work to join up both sides to the balance pipes behind the steps and did not interfere with the sand boxes.

The pony truck was hitting the balance pipes and could not swing. So quite a chunk was removed from the rears of them. This is not noticeable from normal viewing on the track.

The body was pretty much as the kit intended, I added a large weight in the boiler central over the wheels.

Not much left to do on it now.

Nice work, but it really was quite ugly, wasn't it?

It was with the smoke deflecters. I think without them,  certainly on the driver's side, it was a handsome machine.

Another one done to add to the coke wagon.  This is another Gladiator kit (ex North Star).   Quite a nice kit to build. I added the roof gas pipes and large under floor gas tanks, also fitted the partitions.

Assembly was in four parts,  the wheel carriers,  chassis, body then finally the roof. All removable for painting. I also made one wheel carrier able to rock as the wheel base is a little long for fixed wheels.
