This! How many people will care about another variation of a black locomotive. I do and others certainly do but the majority of purchasers won't.
RMweb Gold Dunsignalling Posted December 5, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 5, 2020 (edited) When it comes to black 0-6-0s, most people only "need" however many as will sit on the layout at any one time, with maybe a couple extras to rotate for variety. Equally, though, few will want/need more than one of these in MR red. John Edited December 5, 2020 by Dunsignalling

John However the Midland red one looks pretty - and as someone else observed are likely to be desirable as display pieces, not just running models. A plain black loco just doesn't have the same visual pull in a display cabinet. When first released we saw a similar thing happen with the SECR C class - although a goods loco and having nothing to pull, the orate livery was a big hit with customers. Granted the most recent release has not sold as fast - but I suspect the higher prices Bachmann charge these days may have had an effect. 1
Isambard Smith
I'd love a C class for that reason alone...bit pricey tho, made do with a P. 42 minutes ago, Dunsignalling said: Equally, though, few will want/need more than one of these in MR red. MonsalDan
Rails now have most of them in stock, although the MR version doesn't appear to be available without sound anymore. 2

That and there has been a glut of SECR Wainwright locos since. Wainwright P class are now bargains on Hattons for example....
MonsalDan
Glad that the early signs suggest this seems to be a good seller. Hopefully it shows we don't always need to have a preserved example in existence to have a successful pre-grouping model. Joseph the L&YR lover
as someone who has the midland 4f i say i like it more than the br and lms ones, but then again it may just be me loving the old midland number's and safety valve 3
Butler Henderson
An issue with poorly selling red boxed locos is that they keep on falling into the trap of releasing quickly a new batch of 3 or 4 different models whenthe original batch fulfilled most of the demand.
Joseph the L&YR lover
what we need is people to model the midland as it was, many double headers

Even Essery & Jenkinson cite that poem. 9402 Fredrick
I'm guessing the emails will be sent either tomorrow or Monday, either way, if I don't get the regular ones I'm gonna finally buy myself the international collector club membership and pay for the SDJR Blue one.

MR Chuffer
Oh, well I paid by card over a month ago, got email notification and it's sitting there in my account as order pending. Still nervous though. Perhaps as you said you hadn't dealt with Rails before, their email went to spam? Anyway, squeaky bum time for us all.
